kirottu Posted February 21, 2006 Posted February 21, 2006 Date Movie. Quite bad actually. This post is not to be enjoyed, discussed, or referenced on company time.
thepixiesrock Posted February 21, 2006 Posted February 21, 2006 Date movie and every other movie like it is bad, and will continue to suck. I think Jay Pinkerton said it best, "Comedies getting laughs sending up films that were already intended to be funny is like someone making fun of The Daily Show for resembling a news program. It turns out the joke was already there, and you were too stupid to get it." 11XHooah Posted February 21, 2006 Posted February 21, 2006 So what do you guys think about the new Indy movie that's coming out? Think Harrison Ford will still have his whip skills? War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things. The decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic feeling which thinks that nothing is worth war is much worse. The person who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing which is more important than his own personal safety, is a miserable creature and has no chance of being free unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself. --John Stewart Mill-- "Victory was for those willing to fight and die. Intellectuals could theorize until they sucked their thumbs right off their hands, but in the real world, power still flowed from the barrel of a gun.....you could send in your bleeding-heart do-gooders, you could hold hands and pray and sing hootenanny songs and invoke the great gods CNN and BBC, but the only way to finally open the roads to the big-eyed babies was to show up with more guns." --Black Hawk Down-- MySpace: http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fusea...iendid=44500195
Petay Posted February 21, 2006 Posted February 21, 2006 No! Isn't he something like 50-60 range now? I'd love to see him pull it off however.
Baley Posted February 21, 2006 Author Posted February 21, 2006 11XHooah, have you seen Jarhead? Thoughts? Sunset Blvd. Hana-bi
11XHooah Posted February 21, 2006 Posted February 21, 2006 11XHooah, have you seen Jarhead? Thoughts? Sunset Blvd. Hana-bi <{POST_SNAPBACK}> No, but I've heard from my friends that it was pretty bad. I might see it one of these days. War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things. Petay Posted February 21, 2006 Posted February 21, 2006 Nothing wrong with a bit of an age difference now is there? Am I right, fellas? Am I right? As long as it's legal, of course
alanschu Posted February 21, 2006 Posted February 21, 2006 I would bet the new Indy has a "passing of the torch" type theme. Dr. Jones is getting pretty up there in age....and you can only keep it in the 30s for so long.
thepixiesrock Posted February 21, 2006 Posted February 21, 2006 I wonder if everything will be CGI, and the only real person will be Harrison. Surreptishus Posted February 21, 2006 Posted February 21, 2006 Only the handle of the whip will be real, and possibly one of the fingernails on Ford's right hand.
thepixiesrock Posted February 21, 2006 Posted February 21, 2006 I would pay to see that. Surreptishus Posted February 21, 2006 Posted February 21, 2006 Well, you usually pay to see most films... right?
thepixiesrock Posted February 21, 2006 Posted February 21, 2006 Not porn. I mean, yes, porn. I mean, I don't watch porn. alanschu Posted February 21, 2006 Posted February 21, 2006 You just don't pay for it. No shame in that "
Surreptishus Posted February 21, 2006 Posted February 21, 2006 For those kinds of films you pay with your soul.
Dark_Raven Posted February 21, 2006 Posted February 21, 2006 I would hate to think that I would have to close the movie thread. <_< Hades was the life of the party. RIP You'll be missed.

Surreptishus Posted February 21, 2006 Posted February 21, 2006 I actually feel guilt for derailing this thread. I watched a Nick BroomField film the other day: The Leader, The Driver and The Driver's Wife. Its a film about Nick trying to get an interview with Eugene Terre'Blanche, leader of the South African Neo Nazis. The film was made in 1991 so the timing is important as it was shortly before the end of apartheid. Its quite funny in places as Nick repeatedly tries and fails to get an interview with the Leader. This is in contrast to scenes where a town Mayor describes how white Christians are God's chosen people and that AIDS is here to kill the black population. Ultimately it provides a close up of the end of an era portraying a group of people that are afraid of being marginalised in the new free South Africa.
Baley Posted February 22, 2006 Author Posted February 22, 2006 I watched Kukushka or Cuckoo. And it was damn good.
Laozi Posted February 22, 2006 Posted February 22, 2006 The Life Aquatic. Bill Murray is so great in it. I think I might have to get Caddyshack tomorrow. People laugh when I say that I think a jellyfish is one of the most beautiful things in the world. What they don't understand is, I mean a jellyfish with long, blond hair.
