Plano Skywalker Posted October 9, 2005 Posted October 9, 2005 (edited) I thought it would be fun to have a list of any and all RPGs available for Xbox (current gen). This is not about Xbox exclusives but ANY title that is available for Xbox. (Note: for the purposes of this list, I am including any game that has stat-based gameplay and/or at least some user-controlled dialogue. So, this would included action-RPGs and FPS crossovers.) * Arx Fatalis * Balder's Gate: Dark Alliance * Balder's Gate: Dark Alliance II * Bard's Tale * Crimson Sea * D&D Heroes * Demon Stone * Deus Ex: Invisible War * Digimon World 4 * Fable * Fallout: Brotherhood of Steel * Future Tactics: The Uprising * Jade Empire * Metal Dungeon (generally gets bad reviews) * Morrowind * Morrowind:GOTY (with Tribunal and Bloodmoon) * Phantom Dust * Pirates of the Caribbean * Sonic Adventure 2TM * Sonic HeroesTM * Sudeki * SW: Knights of the Old Republic * SW: Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords * Third Age (Lord of the Rings) * X-Men Legends * X-Men Legends II: Rise of Apocalypse ========================== Upcoming Action/RPG/Adventure games: * Armada 2: Star Command and Resonance * Dreamfall: The Longest Journey * Fable: The Lost Chapters (this is a rerelease of Fable but with extra content) * Gauntlet: Seven Sorrows * Legion: Legend of Excalibur * Master Slave * The Roots * Times of Trouble ========================== Honorable Mention (not-quite an RPG): * Dynasty Warriors 5 * Gladius * Indigo Prophecy * Kingdom Under Fire: The Crusaders (RTS with RPG elements) * Kingdom Under Fire: Heroes (RTS with RPG elements) * Pirates! * Sparta: Total Warrior (RTS/RPG hybrid) * Thief: Deadly Shadows Edited October 11, 2005 by Plano Skywalker

Plano Skywalker Posted October 10, 2005 Author Posted October 10, 2005 (edited) So Pirates! is a RPG but Jade Empire isn't? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> actually JE was on my original rough draft but after moving stuff around, I guess I "misplaced" it. Anyway, that will be corrected real soon. In fact, as people bring titles to my attention, I will add those titles to the original post. I would agree, BTW, that Jade Empire is more of an RPG than Pirates! Edited October 10, 2005 by Plano Skywalker

Musopticon? Posted October 10, 2005 Posted October 10, 2005 ^That's a better list. Thief doesn't even have any kind of experience or development like the other titles Eru(CoF) lined over. kirottu said: I was raised by polar bears. Child of Flame Posted October 10, 2005 Posted October 10, 2005 (edited) I am not even sure about some of the ones I didn't line over, I just hadn't read enough about them to know whether or not they constituted an RPG. Fable is just a sandbox game, Pirates! is a bunch of mini-games thrown together in a fun way, some of the other titles I crossed off were Action RPGs like Diablo, and while they can be considered RPGs I doubt many people on this board do. Basically I am just persnickity, but I reserve that right on the internet. Edited October 10, 2005 by Child of Flame

But yeah, thats a much more accurate list. Off topic a little bit, has anyone else become annoyed when they go to RPGamer.com and check the upcoming RPGs list and 60% of them are MMORPGs and 35% are action games with RPG elements? The area between the balls and the butt is a hotbed of terrorist activity.
ShadowPaladin V1.0 Posted October 10, 2005 Posted October 10, 2005 What are indigo prophecy and phantom dust ? I think I've got Crimson Sea lurking around somewhere. Dont recall anythin particularly RPGish about it. Reminded me more of Dynasty Warriors if anything. I have to agree with Volourn. Bioware is pretty much dead now. Child of Flame Posted October 10, 2005 Posted October 10, 2005 Which is also what Spartan: Total Warrior is supposed to be similar to [Dynasty Warriors]. Which is a shame, when I first read about it, I was hoping it would be a rather realistic experience similar to Rome: Total War but instead of playing a faction you'd play a grunt.
ShadowPaladin V1.0 Posted October 10, 2005 Posted October 10, 2005 Indigo Prophecy is not an RPG. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> It's a questionable list. Found an entry for it on the PS2 under survival horror. I have to agree with Volourn. Bioware is pretty much dead now. Deals like this kills development studios. 478327

At least thats what I've been told anyway. I havnt seen it in action yet. Not a long game by all accounts but one that keeps the adrenaline pumping from start to finish. I have to agree with Volourn. Kaftan Barlast Posted October 10, 2005 Posted October 10, 2005 Indigo Prophecy is not an RPG. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> And why is it called Fahrenheit on ATARi's official site when the US version seems to be called "Indigo Prophecy" ? ..and its not an RPG, its an adventure game DISCLAIMER: Do not take what I write seriously unless it is clearly and in no uncertain terms, declared by me to be meant in a serious and non-humoristic manner. Judge Hades Posted October 10, 2005 Posted October 10, 2005 What are indigo prophecy and phantom dust ? I think I've got Crimson Sea lurking around somewhere. Dont recall anythin particularly RPGish about it. Reminded me more of Dynasty Warriors if anything. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> What I saw of Indigo Prophecy I most defintely would not call it a role playing game. You can't even make your own character or customize it in any shape whatsoever.
Hurlshort Posted October 10, 2005 Posted October 10, 2005 Fable is definitely a role playing game. Just because it has an ultra short story does not make it a sandbox game. You choose how your character develops, you pick skills to fit your playstyle, and you even have choices on how to approach the story. It's not an action-RPG...there's hardly any action in it. BG Dark Alliance are action RPG's. I hate them, but I would still put them on an RPG list.
Judge Hades Posted October 10, 2005 Posted October 10, 2005 (edited) I would not count Fable as a RPG because there are too many out of character aspects to the game and well, it is a rather silly game. Baldur's Gate is a CRPG. Fable is not. Edited October 10, 2005 by Hades_One
ShadowPaladin V1.0 Posted October 10, 2005 Posted October 10, 2005 Fable has some pretty frantic action. I dont think you can just pick and choose what you call an RPG unless your just applying your own criteria. I have to agree with Volourn. Bioware is pretty much dead now. Deals like this kills development studios. 478327
