Indeed. Top marks on your ninja skills. But I'll stick to my machete. You still haven't answered my price point.

Crushed red pepper (flakes, not fine grind)

Whole peppercorns

Garlic powder (fresh is best of course, but sometimes you're in a pinch)

Hot sauce of choice

Sesame seed oil

Soy sauce (unless you're allergic to soy, of course...)

Homemade teriyaki sauce (soy sauce, sugar, garlic, that's it)

Jalepeno's (they're almost non-perishable in a fridge...)

Croutons (they're already stale...)

A really good blender

A large broiler pan

A very large non-sloped high-wall frying pan

A small food processor/chopper for specific tasks like mincing onions to save your eyes. For just plain chopping/slicing, knives are always better.

A good colander (plastic ones SUCK)

Uh....that's it for now.

Salt and pepper are very important. So are things like crushed basil, and crushed oragono. Just remember that they do have a shelf life, so you might not want to get huge ones if you aren't going to cook that much.

Keeping pasta and rice in your cupboard are good options also... so is popcorn for those quicky meals.

olive oil is good to keep onhand and canned tomatoes.

I can't help but to pint out the importance of olive oil. Butter and oil are not an option after you acquire a taste for virgin oil. And it's way more healthy. Do it now.

I use tea for healing purposes more often then I drink it.

Eru's Sunburn Cure:

1 Teabag

1 Coffee Mug Full of Water

1 Bag Cotton Swabs

Brew the tea, let it sit until it's room temperature, or even chill it in the fridge, apply the tea with cotton swabs. The tannic acid in the tea will take the sting right out of a sunburn, though it doesn't promote healing so use of Aloe Vera is still suggested.

Also, tea can be used to perk up a wilted plant on the verge of death, again, the tannic acid.

^ Yes!!! A wonderful use for tea . - Granted I drink it more than I apply it, but I have definately had summers where the application out raced the drinking of.

You can also use Vinegar for sunburns, but lets face it... tea smells better.

Tsk Tsk.....suntan lotion! Wear it, roll around in it...it's your friend!

I'll have to remember the tea thing the next time my husband decides he doesn't need lotion on his fair skin whilst doing yardwork.

If you get stung by jellyfish(the big nasty kind) you should pour vinegar on it to make the stinging-cells let go... or if it was to neutralize the poison? I dont know, its good anyway

A cooking thread? We haven't had that before.  Good God man - gamers don't "cook"...unless you call pushing microwave buttons cooking. :D

Yeah?

I went to school for two years learning the culinary arts.

Anyway, to answer the thread, if you really want to have everything you'll need in case of emergency, just go to walmart (or any big supermarket) and buy one of each thing (spice, hurbs, salts, etc). Why are you trying to stock up on obscure seasonings, anyway? It's not exactly something that impresses the ladies...or your friends.

"Of course the people don't want war. But after all, it's the leaders of the country who determine the policy, and it's always a simple matter to drag the people along whether it's a democracy, a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism, and exposing the country to greater danger."
