alanschu Posted July 18, 2005 Posted July 18, 2005 As long as they can find a way to limit the exploitation of the use system, I'm sure I could support it. I don't want people casting "light" simply for the sake of getting Fire Magic points or something. Although I hear the Fable implementation wasn't too bad.
Darque Posted July 18, 2005 Posted July 18, 2005 Darque, Did you play Fable? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I refuse to based on the game's gender bias.
Laozi Posted July 18, 2005 Posted July 18, 2005 I'd like a sort of being taught stuff system rather then "use" system, or XPs. People laugh when I say that I think a jellyfish is one of the most beautiful things in the world. What they don't understand is, I mean a jellyfish with long, blond hair.
EnderAndrew Posted July 18, 2005 Posted July 18, 2005 Fair enough. It was a ****ty feature to be cut. You can have homosexual romances, but you can't play as a woman. Let's cater to a 5% audience per se, and eliminate 50% of the population.
alanschu Posted July 18, 2005 Posted July 18, 2005 Did it get cut? I wonder if it was too demanding on the art resources. Still, even Ultima allowed for different sex Avatars (although I believe this disappeared towards the end of the series).
EnderAndrew Posted July 18, 2005 Posted July 18, 2005 Yep. The player model changes based upon your alignment. Then again KOTOR pulls this off with multiple sexes, and multiple models. Fable only has one player model.
alanschu Posted July 18, 2005 Posted July 18, 2005 Tsk Tsk. Maybe the model is way way way way better? :D Sometimes a story could revolve around a male protagonist....but somehow I doubt this is the case.
EnderAndrew Posted July 18, 2005 Posted July 18, 2005 The story was generic, and about a generic hero, though your family history comes into play a bit. The game had a lengthy development cycle and they outright promised an RPG masterpiece. They delivered a moderately fun Action-RPG.
alanschu Posted July 18, 2005 Posted July 18, 2005 Hmmmmmmmm..... Meh, I'll probably still get it despite the shortcomings you mention. Every game experience allows for additional ideas for my game :D
EnderAndrew Posted July 18, 2005 Posted July 18, 2005 You might as well wait for the new version with 33% more content.
Darque Posted July 18, 2005 Posted July 18, 2005 Come on Alan, post again, you have to hit the all time record of 200 posts per day
alanschu Posted July 18, 2005 Posted July 18, 2005 I was just noticing that I was one away. Alas......I am unable to think of anything to post ..... Wait a minute.... (w00t)
alanschu Posted July 18, 2005 Posted July 18, 2005 My posts per day have gone from 4.2 to 5.9 in the span of 11 days
EnderAndrew Posted July 18, 2005 Posted July 18, 2005 Alanschu is going to unseat Baley before you know it.
alanschu Posted July 18, 2005 Posted July 18, 2005 I am the lesser of two evils. EDIT: With a sw33t avatar!
Weiser_Cain Posted July 18, 2005 Posted July 18, 2005 Your ideas were more detail oriented in your last post, and can be easiliy incorporated into the EnderAllan design. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> No I wouldn't want to work with that guy anymore, Can we get back to actually trying to talk about what we want to see in the next game and quit the fantasizing about getting to actually working on this title? Yaw devs, Yaw!!! (
EnderAndrew Posted July 18, 2005 Posted July 18, 2005 We had three pages batting around what we wanted to see. Bitter much?
Weiser_Cain Posted July 18, 2005 Posted July 18, 2005 Always. I see three pages of frantic back patting, get back to batting ideas. Yaw devs, Yaw!!! (
alanschu Posted July 18, 2005 Posted July 18, 2005 You should never have made the reference to any of those posts then, lest you get dragged into it. We were just having some fun related to the subject at hand. If you have an idea you'd like to see, just post it. The reason why there's 3 pages of "back patting" is because we were trying to decide what would be good in the game. Pretending to actually create the game is simply a means of actually expressing the things you'd like to see in the game, since you're going to put stuff into your game that you'd like to see. We were having a discussion and were comparing contrasting ideas, shaping our ever-evolving idea of what we would like to see in the game.
Calax Posted July 18, 2005 Posted July 18, 2005 and yet i still beat him by almost 15. This seems unreal. Victor of the 5 year fan fic competition! Kevin Butler will awesome your face off.
