EnderAndrew Posted June 26, 2005 Posted June 26, 2005 Give the average budget for a major console game is in the $25 million dollar mark these days, I'm not sure 10,000 signatures is enough.
11XHooah Posted June 26, 2005 Posted June 26, 2005 After forwarding the petition to LA, this is what I got: Hello, Thank you for the comments and information, we will pass this along to the appropriate group. Your customer number is 1242388 Please refer to case #:: 1841184 if you have any further questions. If you need further assistance, you can also reach us online at http://support.lucasarts.com. Please include all previous replies when/if responding to this message. Best Regards, RichV at LucasArts Technical Support lucasarts@aqinc.com I wonder if it will even reach the "appropriate group" War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things. The decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic feeling which thinks that nothing is worth war is much worse. The person who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing which is more important than his own personal safety, is a miserable creature and has no chance of being free unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself. --John Stewart Mill-- "Victory was for those willing to fight and die. Intellectuals could theorize until they sucked their thumbs right off their hands, but in the real world, power still flowed from the barrel of a gun.....you could send in your bleeding-heart do-gooders, you could hold hands and pray and sing hootenanny songs and invoke the great gods CNN and BBC, but the only way to finally open the roads to the big-eyed babies was to show up with more guns." --Black Hawk Down-- MySpace: http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fusea...iendid=44500195

GhostofAnakin Posted June 26, 2005 Posted June 26, 2005 I wonder if it will even reach the "appropriate group" <{POST_SNAPBACK}> "Appropriate group" means that tech support's desktop recycle bin. It seems way too high given that it would require sales of one million games at a wholesale price of $25 just to break even (most companies prefer to make a profit btw). But average sales of a "hit" game doesn't currently approach that. So you got any backup for that number?
Titosros Posted June 26, 2005 Posted June 26, 2005 Petitions didn't work for swg i don't see it working for KOTOR2 lol.
GhostofAnakin Posted June 26, 2005 Posted June 26, 2005 Petitions didn't work for swg i don't see it working for KOTOR2 lol. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Actually, didn't the petitions work the opposite way for SWG? I heard they made changes based on what people who didn't even play the game wanted, rather than listening to those who actually did play it. RevanRedefined Posted June 26, 2005 Posted June 26, 2005 I don't mean to rain on you're guys cause, its for the better but no one listens to online petitions. A bunch of people have started like 50 petitions to try and get a fan-made game of Chrono Trigger in 3-D ( 10 scene demo merely ) and Square-Enix blew them all off. But, we all know SE are pricks :D BTW if you want to check out their project go to Chrono Trigger Ressurection
Titosros Posted June 27, 2005 Posted June 27, 2005 Maybe the ending with a set up when KOTOR3 comes out.

Certain games are no doubt cheaper, especially if they don't predict large sales. However, I said major console games. It should be noted that some games cost significanly more as well. GTA:SA cost some $85 million dollars to make.
Darth Flatus Posted June 27, 2005 Posted June 27, 2005 Thats the upper limit and although the average cost is nowhere near that, the trend is that it is increasing and is predicted to keep on increasiing so as to make use of the super flashy graphics power of new technology. Small developers are worried that this will kill them.
jodo kast 5 Posted June 27, 2005 Posted June 27, 2005 Guys, your beating a dead horse, everyone knows Lucasarts won't change it and you know it! , they're moving on to new games and new profits .
EnderAndrew Posted June 27, 2005 Posted June 27, 2005 Halo 2 made more in it's opening weekend than Spiderman 2 (the then record-holder) made in it's opening weekend. As video game grosses become more like movie grosses, video game budgets will become more like movie budgets.
SteveThaiBinh Posted June 27, 2005 Posted June 27, 2005 Guys, your beating a dead horse, everyone knows Lucasarts won't change it and you know it! <{POST_SNAPBACK}> The petition is less about fixing Kotor 2 and more about fixing Kotor 3 and other future LucasArts games. In the beginning, maybe there was some hope they would release a proper content patch, but Obsidian told us fairly early on that wouldn't happen, so now it's just about conveying consumer dissatisfaction for future reference.
