Sarjahurmaaja. Posted April 29, 2005 Posted April 29, 2005 (edited) Oh boy, this game is awesome! I came accross it reading the PA forums and decided to give it a try. Mount&Blade Preview on RPGDot Download it, NOW! Edited April 29, 2005 by Fionavar 9/30 -- NEVER FORGET!
Kaftan Barlast Posted April 29, 2005 Posted April 29, 2005 WTF?! Doesnt ANYONE care about things like story and characters anymore? Its like the recipe for an RPG these days seem to be -lots of fighting -levelling so you can fight better -lots of loot to help you buy sh*t to fight better -maybe some generic excuse for a story for those strange people who wants a reason for the fighting DISCLAIMER: Do not take what I write seriously unless it is clearly and in no uncertain terms, declared by me to be meant in a serious and non-humoristic manner. If there is no clear indication, asume the post is written in jest. This notification is meant very seriously and its purpouse is to avoid misunderstandings and the consequences thereof. Furthermore; I can not be held accountable for anything I write on these forums since the idea of taking serious responsability for my unserious actions, is an oxymoron in itself. Important: as the following sentence contains many naughty words I warn you not to read it under any circumstances; botty, knickers, wee, erogenous zone, psychiatrist, clitoris, stockings, bosom, poetry reading, dentist, fellatio and the department of agriculture. Darque Posted April 29, 2005 Posted April 29, 2005 RPGs are interactive stories... This is an action game
Musopticon? Posted April 29, 2005 Posted April 29, 2005 An rpg focusing on different aspects than most of us BIS-fans like, but an rpg still. kirottu said: I was raised by polar bears. I had to fight against blood thirsty wolves and rabid penguins to get my food. Those who were too weak to survive were sent to Sweden. It has made me the man I am today. A man who craves furry hentai. So let us go and embrace the rustling smells of unseen worlds
Kaftan Barlast Posted April 29, 2005 Posted April 29, 2005 RPGs are interactive stories... This is an action game <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Precisely. The only roleplaying that usually goes on is that you may choose wether to smite your foes with an axe or a sword. Hawk! Eggplant! AWAKEN!
Baley Posted April 29, 2005 Posted April 29, 2005 WOW progress quest is awesome :D Eveyone should play it....JE killer
Dhruin Posted April 29, 2005 Posted April 29, 2005 Geez, it's v0.6 - only a bit over halfway done. The story and quests come after the basic mechanics are in place.
Kaftan Barlast Posted April 29, 2005 Posted April 29, 2005 You can see a Hack n' Slash game come from a mile away, usually its all the hyping about combat, skills, spell and not a thing about the gaming world or the story that give em away.. You can see it on the "features" that they supply retailers with, a good game like PsT or K2 will have atleast 2-3 dibs about story, character etc while your garden variety slasher will have 0-1 DISCLAIMER: Do not take what I write seriously unless it is clearly and in no uncertain terms, declared by me to be meant in a serious and non-humoristic manner. Baley Posted April 29, 2005 Posted April 29, 2005 Well I played it and it doesn't seem that bad compared to MW ...true the story is almost non-existent but as Dhruin said it's just 0.6...so there is still hope ...it does seem too H&S for my taste, tho :">

Have you actually played it, by the way? 'Cause, y'know, it's awesome. Sure, it's not an RPG. So what? It's awesome. 9/30 -- NEVER FORGET!
Diogo Ribeiro Posted May 1, 2005 Posted May 1, 2005 JRPGs are interactive stories... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Edited for clarity.
Darque Posted May 1, 2005 Posted May 1, 2005 ^ Phail'd Unless games like Planescape Torment are now considered jrpgs
Diogo Ribeiro Posted May 1, 2005 Posted May 1, 2005 ^ Phail'd Unless games like Planescape Torment are now considered jrpgs <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Torment is one RPG, not all of them. There are RPGs which both adhere to your description as well as defy it.
Sarjahurmaaja. Posted May 4, 2005 Author Posted May 4, 2005 This game needs more people playing it. 9/30 -- NEVER FORGET!
Yann Posted May 4, 2005 Posted May 4, 2005 Meh it was ok....Combat was a bit boring and the computer takes pleasure in running faster than you so it can lay on the pain
Sarjahurmaaja. Posted May 4, 2005 Author Posted May 4, 2005 Hey, it's your own fault if you don't get a horse or invest enough in AGI and Athletics. 9/30 -- NEVER FORGET!
