Most people have enough sense to realise that writing NPCs is different when you need to write them for variable characters. Just as most people realise writing a book is a lot more predictable than writing a multi path adventure. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> ...different and "a whole lot easier" are two different things, lad...like I said; PS:T may have only had one or two differences here and there on replays, but the "differences" 'tween class/race/gender fer BG/SoA were laughable...a few words here and there; that's it...repetition is what it is, with a word or two changed here and there...yer not foolin' anyone who played BG or SoA inta believin' there was "huge" differences, or e'en moderate ones fer that matter, that relied upon which race/class/gender ya was...ye was a cookie-cutter...a cookie-cutter in interchangeable Barbie outfits, but a cookie-cutter nonetheless... ...WHO LUVS YA, BABY!!... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> You qualify those as reviews.... You try writing a story without knowing in advance who your lead actor is going to be. When you let people create their own characters they fill in the blanks. On the other hand give them a pre gen and it relies very much on whether or not they identify with it. I have to agree with Volourn. Bioware is pretty much dead now. Deals like this kills development studios. 478327[/snapback]
mkreku
Why do people keep discussing things with Volourn? He's been caught lying over and over and never adds anything constructive (unless you count lies as being constructive) to any discussion.. And when you catch him lying he just keeps crying about how he doesn't need to prove anything to anyone (because mommy said so!). Why bother? Somewhat on topic: Why isn't it possible to edit polls after they've been posted? Couldn't you just wipe the current poll result and start anew whenever someone edits a poll (by adding more options for example)? This thread could have been a lot more interesting with a few more voting options. At least an "other" option! Swedes, go to: Spel2, for the latest game reviews in swedish! roshan
"baldurs gate 2 and icewind dale 2 sucked." Make up your mind. You go from saying it sucks to it being good. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Relative to the original games, they do suck.
The Coordinator
BG2 is the better game than the OC. But, NWN *easily* has better overall graphics though the backgrounds for BG2 were better in many ways. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Not only the backgrounds were better. The overall atmosphere in BG was better. The characters were more fun to play with. And the dialogue, gui, music, party control set BG before NWN (for me that is). If you like NWN more than BG that

Sure you could be a slew of races and classes in SoA, but the difference it made in actual roleplaying, other than a select few quests and combat tactics, was laughable, and no way, no how "better" than that of PS:T Fot: Yeah, the game was 95% the same overal the second time we played it. Cantousent
Good God, my hopes are dashed by Sarge on the one hand but I get a chance to participate in SP's ol' stand-by argument on the other. It's good to know you're still alive SP. I thought I should answer based on the choice in the poll. Of everything, I am only certain of two... PS:T has everything beat in terms of setting and atmosphere. NWN is a disappointment and the setting is a bit raw. Arkan
Raw? I found it to be more of an overcooked piece of moldy beef, dry as the sahara and, surrounded by charred remains of what could have been a delicious meal. "Of course the people don't want war. But after all, it's the leaders of the country who determine the policy, and it's always a simple matter to drag the people along whether it's a democracy, a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism, and exposing the country to greater danger." - Herman Goering at the Nuremberg trials "I have also been slowly coming to the realisation that knowledge and happiness are not necessarily coincident, and quite often mutually exclusive" - meta

jaguars4ever
Off the top of my head, the "best ingame feeling" games for me were King's Quest 6, Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis, Fallout, Planecape : Torment and KotOR. From that list, I'd say the first Baldur's Gate.
Exar Dulo
I don't have the time to read the whole thread, but I simply can't understand why BGII: SoA is not present in the possible pool votes? It was far better than ToB!
Cantousent
My understanding of the poll is that the expansions are included with the original game. So, BGII - ToB is actually BGII: SoA and ToB combined. roshan
"Relative to the original games, they do suck." You didn't say that. And, still, just because theya ren't as good as the originals (iyo) doens't mean they'd suck. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> If you learned to apply logic, then there will be no need to spell out everything for you.
