The_Prodigal_Knight
it appears that what you is getting with the prestige classes well, then you takes either the lightside <_< or you takes the darkside but the obsidians IS being rather economical, ain't they? they is, for the most part.... <_< but they add nifty labels and you thinks you got 9? yeah, 'cause the shotgun spread o' inane smileys is a much better way to show you is a smart guy. btw, not everything is related to star wars... Whitemithrandir
I have trouble reading english at the best of times, does that even qualify as a langauge Gromnir? shh, he's stuck in a perpetual state of role-playing a half-orc. Dark Wanderer
Back to topic. It has been stated that you can complete the game even without gaining a prestige class. I hope that won't happen to me O_o. I WANT to reach a prestige class dammit! Despite the fact that many people who've played KOTOR has a negative view on it, I'm still very optimistic about the Februari release and can't wait to get my paws on the game :D

"Back to topic. It has been stated that you can complete the game even without gaining a prestige class. " this should be no surprise as the prestige classes is simply the base classes with a couple super powers added in for kewlness. even for a crpg, kotor was not expecting much from players in terms o' tactics or cleverness... combat was pretty damned easy. the obsidians has already stated that kotor 2 will play much as did kotor, and if this is true, depriving your character of a couple extra nifty powhaz should not slow you down much. HA! Good Fun! OLD SKOOL WHEELMAN
People who don't understand Gromnir need Hooked on Phonics, or something like that...honestly... Here's a translation of what I think the poster is trying to convey: Prestige classes, still a mystery, but make us shiver in our boots... Sith Marauder, Jedi Watchman, Jedi Weapon master... Don't you think they are corresponding to the starting Jedi classes? E.g. sentinel=watchman, guardian=marauder(but what about the assassin?)? From my view, he's not complaining, but merely asking.... Meshugger
it appears that what you is getting with the prestige classes is simply a limited late game opportunity to multi-class. you start out consular and want to multi to a more combat focused class? well, then you takes either the lightside combat focused prestige class, or you takes the darkside focused prestige class... will pretty much be like simply allowing you to multi to guardian. no doubt there will be some little special power or two that comes with the kotor 2 prestige classes, but the obsidians IS being rather economical, ain't they? they is, for the most part, giving you even less than you got in kotor. at least in that game you had 6 distinct classes. in this game you is gonna be getting 3... but they add nifty labels and you thinks you got 9? *shrug* not particularly bother Gromnir that there is simply 3 classes "Some men see things as they are and say why?""I dream things that never were and say why not?"- George Bernard Shaw"Hope in reality is the worst of all evils because it prolongs the torments of man."- Friedrich Nietzsche "The amount of energy necessary to refute bull**** is an order of magnitude bigger than to produce it." - Some guy

Gromnir
"Your the one who can't utter a word of proper English from that deteriorating mouth of yours." anybody wanna explain to the sw geekling why the above sentence is so amusing? we purposefully post like we does. what is your excuse? son, Gromnir have been posting this way a long time. if you thinks ridiculous smileys is gonna affect a change in our posting style, you is more confused than we would think. " IIRC, prestige classes surve the purpuse of specializing one of your character's feats/skills. For me, it gives that perticular specialization a 'name', a certain identification of your character. Not entirely lack of substance IMO." is no question that prestige classes is more specialized than base d20 classes, but how does the prestige classes specialize? a character is required to follow a particular character development path, and by doing so, they is granted a special power or two when they adopt a prestige class. (this design choice sadly leads to actually less customization as two jedi masters is likely to look very similar... which were something d20 was striving to get away from.) so why on earth does you need a separate prestige class... particularly in kotor 2 where the prestige classes is simply powered up and alignment charged versions of the base classes? why not simply make those prestige powhaz available as feats (or as jedi powers in the case of kotor,) and skip the prestige class nonsense? obsidian could leave a blank field on your character record sheet and you could then type in whatever name suits your fancy. we ain't saying that choosing a prestige class gets you nothing. point is that all your choice o' a prestige class gives you, beyond what you might get from basic d20 multiclassing, is a special power and a name... which is stuff that coulda' been added to game w/o need for prestige class prerequisites. Synaesthesia
HEY! LOOKEY HERE! Another thread that's degenerated into an "OMG j00 r teh illitr8, gromneer!" thread. What does Gromnir's posting style have to do with anything? As difficult as his style can be to read, I must admit that it annoys me less than people that truncate "you are" into "your". There's an apostrophe and an "e" there. Anyway, back on topic, what is this thread all about?
