DSLuke Posted October 2, 2004 Author Posted October 2, 2004 The only SW book I've read so far is Heir to the Empire which I must say took completely by surprize, as it was far better than I expected. I'm waiting for amazon now to deliver me the next two volumes of the Thrawn trilogy. And by the light of the moon He prays for their beauty not doom
Nur Ab Sal Posted October 2, 2004 Posted October 2, 2004 Good start. HERMOCRATES: Nur Ab Sal was one such king. He it was, say the wise men of Egypt, who first put men in the colossus, making many freaks of nature at times when the celestial spheres were well aligned. SOCRATES: This I doubt. We are hearing a child's tale.
Laozi Posted October 2, 2004 Posted October 2, 2004 it was the first one i read and there are only a few things that you would say are"just not quite right" People laugh when I say that I think a jellyfish is one of the most beautiful things in the world. What they don't understand is, I mean a jellyfish with long, blond hair.

But aside from a few, they won't be. Some will be just outright horrible in comparison. Stay away from the Crystal Star and the "Callista" trilogy if you can. DSLuke Posted October 2, 2004 Author Posted October 2, 2004 Maybe we should start a new topic about eu books And by the light of the moon He prays for their beauty not doom

Laozi Posted October 2, 2004 Posted October 2, 2004 but essentially they are all stupid People laugh when I say that I think a jellyfish is one of the most beautiful things in the world. What they don't understand is, I mean a jellyfish with long, blond hair.
DSLuke Posted October 2, 2004 Author Posted October 2, 2004 It just wouldn't be possible to agree on more than one subject, would it? And by the light of the moon He prays for their beauty not doom
Laozi Posted October 2, 2004 Posted October 2, 2004 Well if you haven't read the books you really don't know. When I first read the Zahn Trilogy I was excited about the Star wars book, then I read "The Courtship of Princess Leia" and it just snowballed from there. Its like that episode of southpark where the cop read Atlas Shrugged and decided reading suckes ass People laugh when I say that I think a jellyfish is one of the most beautiful things in the world. What they don't understand is, I mean a jellyfish with long, blond hair.
GhostofAnakin Posted October 2, 2004 Posted October 2, 2004 Here is my list of favourite star wars novels (you can use it if you want):Dark Journey by Elaine Cunningham <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Seriously? I kind of thought Cunningham didn't really grasp the SW universe or characters she used. It seemed more like she was writing a "young adult" fantasy novel than a Star Wars novel. I also didn't think it portrayed Jaina Solo falling to the DS properly. Instead, it made her just seem like a bitchy little spoiled brat. DSLuke Posted October 2, 2004 Author Posted October 2, 2004 i've noticed that survivor's quest wasn't on that list. isn't that book good? And by the light of the moon He prays for their beauty not doom
Laozi Posted October 2, 2004 Posted October 2, 2004 no People laugh when I say that I think a jellyfish is one of the most beautiful things in the world. What they don't understand is, I mean a jellyfish with long, blond hair.
GhostofAnakin Posted October 2, 2004 Posted October 2, 2004 i've noticed that survivor's quest wasn't on that list. isn't that book good? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Not one of Zahn's better works. The ending, IMO, is a bit....unsatisfying. Basically, it seemed as if he wrote it to set up his upcoming "Outbound Flight" duology, rather than writing a story for the single book. "Console exclusive is such a harsh word." - Darque"Console exclusive is two words Darque." - Nartwak (in response to Darque's observation)
Fearless_Jedi Posted October 2, 2004 Posted October 2, 2004 Since it is gonna be called Knight of the Old Republic I would expect it to be either the same time period or take place 1000 years before Ep1....when the Sith where thought to be extinct. however I wouldn't mind seeing a clone wars related timeline...those Grevous body guards are cool and I cant wait to tear them apart in the new Ep3 game that is gonna come out. Oh and PS: Traitor was the best NJO book even though the whole concept of the Yuuzhan Vong shouldn't have been put in Star Wars in the first place. "Some people are always trying to iceskate uphill." DSLuke Posted October 2, 2004 Author Posted October 2, 2004 A bit off topic but I think that site has some good info about SW. www.supershadow.com And by the light of the moon He prays for their beauty not doom

DSLuke Posted October 3, 2004 Author Posted October 3, 2004 Does anyone have any ideas on what books should be used as a source for KOTOR 3 or KOTNR?? And by the light of the moon He prays for their beauty not doom
Nur Ab Sal Posted October 3, 2004 Posted October 3, 2004 I think that Gallo as usual will make references to TOTJ and maybe throw some ideas from "Tales of the Jedi Companion" (like in KOTOR with Czerka Corporation) We'll see what ideas Karpyshyn and Hand will bring in their upcoming hardcovers. HERMOCRATES: Nur Ab Sal was one such king. He it was, say the wise men of Egypt, who first put men in the colossus, making many freaks of nature at times when the celestial spheres were well aligned. SOCRATES: This I doubt. We are hearing a child's tale.

Indeed, I imagine in KoToR 3 is set in the same time period, we may see some references to their novels in the game.
thepixiesrock Posted October 3, 2004 Posted October 3, 2004 Yeah right and in the third gam the npc would have to ask what happened to both first two games, you would need half an hour to tackle with the question alone You can't have it 1000 years later or else it wouldnt be knights of the old republic 3. It would take place in a whole new time period... Lou Gutman, P.I.- It's like I'm not even trying anymore!http://theatomicdanger.iforumer.com/index....theatomicdangerOne billion b-balls dribbling simultaneously throughout the galaxy. One trillion b-balls being slam dunked through a hoop throughout the galaxy. I can feel every single b-ball that has ever existed at my fingertips. I can feel their collective knowledge channeling through my viens. Every jumpshot, every rebound and three-pointer, every layup, dunk, and free throw. I am there.
Influence Posted October 4, 2004 Posted October 4, 2004 KOTOR 3 shoudl not take place any less than 2000 years before episode I. But I think that after KOTOR 2 it may be tiem to start a new series depending on how they tied up teh story line Maybe you are a descendant of Revan or something like that. It REALLY SHOULD be SOMEHOW loosely connected to the old one but with a brand new plot and completely new set of characters , adventures, and should be loosely based off of pre-existing information, but be original at teh same time Something of great importance, must have Jedi of Course, maybe an OPTION to pick an apprentice. And Alos, i think a modified 20 level system would be good. YOu can tell this will be a great game if we are already talking about what we want in the third installment even before the second one comes out.
Influence Posted October 4, 2004 Posted October 4, 2004 Does anyone have any ideas on what books should be used as a source for KOTOR 3 or KOTNR?? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> PLEASE NO KOTNR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THis will set a precedent for only two games per era!!!!!! Not a good idea At LEAST one more KOTOR and then play it from their, Perhaps two more that tie together like the first two. There Is still so much they can write about teh old republic it would be a shame to skip that whole time period. They should have Like 5 or 6 KOTORs and then 5 or six KOTNR and then you would have a huge catalog of star wars games that can catalogogue the entire republican history and could be seen as the authority on Star Wars history. THis is all assuming they keep the quality of the games
