icebox15 Posted July 5, 2004 Posted July 5, 2004 Why is it always necessary to use a major port where ever you fly your ship. Why not put the Ebon Hawk where you really need it. That should be an option KOTOR II, to choose where you want to parkyour ship. Like when you travel to Edean you should have the option of docking either on the landing platform or down in the shadowlands. Same goes for the other planets.
ShinIchiro Posted July 5, 2004 Posted July 5, 2004 That doesn't necesarily work for plot. Since when have there been ports in the shadowlands. Speaking of the lower Kashyyk (no clue how to spell that) levels, the game either misrepresented them or didn't explain that we weren't on the lowest level. Isn't it pretty much impossible for anyone to survive in the lowest levels?
Ratamacue Posted July 5, 2004 Posted July 5, 2004 Well, the Shadowlands were supposed to be extremely dangerous, much more so than in the game. Of course, the ease in the game could be accounted for in the fact that you're a Jedi (or at least somewhat).
icebox15 Posted July 5, 2004 Author Posted July 5, 2004 Since when have there been ports in the shadowlands. Think back to Ep1, they didn't land on a port when they went to Tatooine. You don't need a landing plat form all you need is some flat ground.

Isn't it pretty much impossible for anyone to survive in the lowest levels? You were an maybe a 10th level Jedi by the time you got to Kashyyk. Surviving the Shadowlands wouldn't have been terribly difficult. Remember most people don't have many class levels, so it would've still been dangerous to them.
ShinIchiro Posted July 5, 2004 Posted July 5, 2004 I've heard stuff like teams of wookies won't even go to the bottom. A very powerful group of nightsisters were demolished in the shadowlands and almost all of their stormtrooper escort died. Also, about the flat ground and taking your ship to the shadowlands, do you volunteer to fly your ship through a nearly impenetrable group of massive trees?
icebox15 Posted July 6, 2004 Author Posted July 6, 2004 The Ebon Hawk's a small ship it could make it.
ShinIchiro Posted July 6, 2004 Posted July 6, 2004 Not through that much plant life with that many trees. There are so many layers with so many branches. I hear it's hard for a speeder bike to make it, forget a freighter.
EnderAndrew Posted July 6, 2004 Posted July 6, 2004 It's against the law to not dock properly and pay docking fees. Â Also, theorhetically when you dock, you get fresh water on board, get rid of trash, get new supplies, refuel, etc.
Dead Skin Mask Posted July 6, 2004 Posted July 6, 2004 Jolee tried to land in the shadowlands once and we all know how that turned out. If the terrian is fit for landing the Ebon Hawk outside of a port which is the case for Dantooine or Tatooine sure you could do it but you would be forfeiting the protection and maintenance a space port provides. Now how long would it have been before the Mandalorians on Dantooine noticed their ticket off that rock in the shape of a state of the art smugglers ship and luanched an all out assualt to capture it? 5 maybe ten minutes? Ports make sense when flying such a prized vessel as the Ebon Hawk because it needs constant attention and protection. Perhaps Obsidian will include shuttles of some kind which will carry you from location to location for a fee when quick travel via the menu screen isn't avalible. Â Cheers!
OLD SKOOL WHEELMAN Posted July 6, 2004 Posted July 6, 2004 Jolee and Czerka could have cleared out some of those bigger and badder monsters somehow, or at least that's how they could explain it...good point DSM...although it would be cool to have a special docking bay in Kashyyyk like in the Han Solo Trilogy...
Grandpa Posted July 6, 2004 Posted July 6, 2004 To add to it, add some "fighting your way out" action like in the original trilogy...they were constantly fighting their way to the ship to get out of Dodge.
OLD SKOOL WHEELMAN Posted July 6, 2004 Posted July 6, 2004 That could be a reason they added a bottom turret...
Grandpa Posted July 6, 2004 Posted July 6, 2004 Right, but wouldn't it fit the known method of operation for Star Wars evacuations if you also had to fight a few bad guys on your way to the ship itself? Â I realize that this is supposed to be an RPG and not an Action/Adventure, but it would be appropriate I think.
OLD SKOOL WHEELMAN Posted July 6, 2004 Posted July 6, 2004 Sounds okay to me, but do you want to fight criminals who want to kill you, or the local fuzz wanting to take you in? Many possibilities as well as many explanations...
Grandpa Posted July 6, 2004 Posted July 6, 2004 Sounds okay to me, but do you want to fight criminals who want to kill you, or the local fuzz wanting to take you in? Many possibilities as well as many explanations... .....yes.....

icebox15 Posted July 6, 2004 Author Posted July 6, 2004 Sounds good to me, but how many suggestions do you think Obsidian is actually taking?
OLD SKOOL WHEELMAN Posted July 6, 2004 Posted July 6, 2004 I don't know, but I heard they cut out the extra NPC's you could have...so they must working hard on something...unless the glass is half empty...
icebox15 Posted July 6, 2004 Author Posted July 6, 2004 I don't know, but I heard they cut out the extra NPC's you could have...so they must working hard on something...unless the glass is half empty... Half empty is pessimistic, half full is optimistic...you have to be optimistic about this game. Anyway, how many extra NPCs did they cut.
DesertHawk Posted July 6, 2004 Posted July 6, 2004 I'd rather have more NPCs than dock somewhere else. I hope that's just a rumor. I really do. Fnord.

Someone else posted it up, I don't know if it is true or not, said the problem was time "constraints". I know it is pessimistic, because that's my developing view on the game...
icebox15 Posted July 6, 2004 Author Posted July 6, 2004 You must remain optimistic or the game could suffer because of it.
OLD SKOOL WHEELMAN Posted July 6, 2004 Posted July 6, 2004 I know, I guess it's because I'm the Top Dawg with the Devs... And I think the Devs know I'll love the game...
