maia Posted July 3, 2004 Posted July 3, 2004 I liked the swoop sequence in JA. One of my favourite levels, in fact. And the controls were adequate to the task, IMHO. I'd love to see vehicles like that in CRPG.
ShinIchiro Posted July 3, 2004 Posted July 3, 2004 Yah, just the JA turning was a little...impossible. You either got someone head on head or you missed. It made using blasters impossible.
Carrie Posted July 3, 2004 Posted July 3, 2004 It's not just that, Shin. JA needs a serious patch to make it OBEY the settings you put into options. I had it very deliberately set to "NO SLOW MOTION DEATHS" because it ****ed up that level, you bumped into things while it was doing slowmos of kills, and moving your view behind you. Other than that, I didn't like the swoop level because losing the bike was an 'autodeath' basically, in field.
ShinIchiro Posted July 4, 2004 Posted July 4, 2004 I actually won by dismounting. Got them all couped up and ran by swinging my saber. I killed everyone following me (all 4 of them) and proceded to get the next bike.
Craigboy2 Posted July 4, 2004 Author Posted July 4, 2004 I avoided most of them with out killing anyone (I killed like 2 people who went up beside me). This guy's just a homeless heroin junkie who got in a internet caf
WIDOWMAKER Posted July 4, 2004 Posted July 4, 2004 the speeder lvl was MUCH BETTER in Shadows of the Empire. the one in JA was a joke.
Craigboy2 Posted July 4, 2004 Author Posted July 4, 2004 the speeder lvl was MUCH BETTER in Shadows of the Empire. the one in JA was a joke. the whole game was a joke and thats why i regrat buying it "Your total disregard for the law and human decency both disgusts me and touches my heart. ShinIchiro Posted July 4, 2004 Posted July 4, 2004 I'm talking about the idea, not the specifics of how well it worked or how badly it failed. I had forgotten about the Shadows of the empire speeder lvl. That was fun. The concept of both should be incorporated into swoop racing. Anyone ever played the tatooine racing in Rogue Squadron? Another idea to use.
EnderAndrew Posted July 5, 2004 Posted July 5, 2004 I think Shadows of the Empire was one of the better Star Wars titles despite it being on the N64.
ShinIchiro Posted July 5, 2004 Posted July 5, 2004 So would it be a good idea to completely alter the style of swoop racing from a straightaway to a track?
EnderAndrew Posted July 5, 2004 Posted July 5, 2004 Either was is fine with me. I think multiple laps on a track would be better because there is no room for error in a 20 second race. More importantly, I'd like to race against someone on the track rather than racing against a clock. Even if it was only 1-on-1 heats, it would be a vast improvement.
icebox15 Posted July 6, 2004 Posted July 6, 2004 I'd prefer a genuine quarter mile drag race except with swoop bikes. Four bikes take the starting line all waiting for the green light and then flying down the track where you can cut others off and draft off of them to make the finalpass right at the finish line. A cool upgrade would be the Star Wars equivalent of NOS.
ShinIchiro Posted July 6, 2004 Posted July 6, 2004 Exactly. It would also make swoop modification/upgrades be more essential if you have a longer track/straightaway.
OLD SKOOL WHEELMAN Posted July 6, 2004 Posted July 6, 2004 What about the pit maneuver? Can I do the pit maneuver? Please?
Wraith Posted July 6, 2004 Posted July 6, 2004 I would like to Be able to buy extra boosters change hype it up my cutom one would probably be th ugliest one but it would smoke anything on the track
icebox15 Posted July 6, 2004 Posted July 6, 2004 And you can wreck other racers on the track with you.
OLD SKOOL WHEELMAN Posted July 6, 2004 Posted July 6, 2004 What is the pit maneuver? The Precision Immobilization Technique, or pit maneuver, is when someone, usually like the cops, uses their front bumper to stop you by administering force with the right corner of their bumper to the left corner of your rear bumper, or vice versa; which then causes you to fishtail out of control...it's pretty cool...but you can get out of it...
icebox15 Posted July 6, 2004 Posted July 6, 2004 Yeah but if they break abruptly you could spinout if your not careful.
OLD SKOOL WHEELMAN Posted July 6, 2004 Posted July 6, 2004 Aye, that's why you have to use it when the time is right...but it is funny when a guy can evade the cops like that...
icebox15 Posted July 7, 2004 Posted July 7, 2004 C.O.P.S. "Bad boys bad boys, whatcha gonna do, whatcha gonna do when they come for you."
EnderAndrew Posted July 7, 2004 Posted July 7, 2004 Grand Theft Auto: Sith Andreas - coming soon! Well, it's been too long since I've updated the Questions of the Dev's Take 2 sticky. I need to take all the news about upgradable swoops and the like and do some updates.
OLD SKOOL WHEELMAN Posted July 7, 2004 Posted July 7, 2004 Definately...I guess this topic has no more pep left...goodbye swoop bike topic...farewell...
icebox15 Posted July 7, 2004 Posted July 7, 2004 What about playing chicken on swoop bikes, let's talk about what a cool feature that would be.
