Usually such positions come with expection that person is at least bit familiar with the job.
October 20Oct 20 Alberta rejects a move toward independence from Canada in a victory for CarneyVoters in Canada’s oil-rich Alberta province overwhelmingly backed remaining in Canada, with early referendum results Tuesday delivering a boost to Prime Minister Mark Carney's push for national unity amid U.S. President Donald Trump's trade war and annexation threats.Didn't that entire "independence" movement seem driven by a Trumpian oil company agenda? I mean, an independent Alberta could be environmentally exploited by big oil to extract every last drop of petroleum without oversight from the Canadian government. Alberta could have ended up like Venezuela with a puppet government run by the US. Well good on them for sticking with our friends to the north. Friday at 06:52 PM3 days With the House likely being lost to the Dems, Stinky now seeks to legally overrule a particular Senate race election outcome in Alaska... before the votes are even counted. I wonder what the voters up there think of this?Trump says he ordered the Justice Department’s lawsuit over Alaska’s US Senate race "Can't sleep the drones will kill me."
Sunday at 09:59 PM1 day The long ruling party in Serbia lost the elections convincingly. No one expected it to be that much of a difference. Now we see how and if our foreign policies change. "because they filled mommy with enough mythic power to become a demi-god" - KP
Yesterday at 02:46 AM1 day Bolsonaro lost, apparently he refuses to concede though. Why has elegance found so little following? Elegance has the disadvantage that hard work is needed to achieve it and a good education to appreciate it. - Edsger Wybe Dijkstra

Now we see how and if our foreign policies change. Its a fascinating outcome and its surprising how very little global attention this election got What really surprised me is the student movement was started by the corruption and mishandling of the Novi Sad train station disaster in 2024Im concerned the student movement has no defined leaders and no political experience but lets wait and see how things unfoldThey do have a 11 point manifesto so that's something they can focus on. But this must be the first time I can ever recall that this type of grassroots movement has won an election so quickly. Its more about overall issues around corruption and inefficiency with Vucic but its an impressive and unexpected election outcome "The elected MPs will have the task of fulfilling what is in effect a manifesto. In the words of the students themselves, they were looking for people who could enter institutions "do their jobs responsibly and not forget why they are there".Under an 11-point programme, the student movement wants to:Eradicate corruption by forming a police unit to arrest those responsible for itPurge officials in the internal affairs ministry of anyone who broke rules on cracking down on protesters, or anyone linked to organised crimeReform Serbia's skewed media scene and free the public broadcaster of political controlStop recruiting party loyalists to head public enterprises.Vučić and the SNS party deny corruption and seeking to influence the media." Yesterday at 08:00 AM1 day The difference was too big and the party leader conceded before the results were out. He was preparing for conflict in case the results were close, but he lost by 13%.The big scare is that the ones pulling the strings for this winning party are the powers from the west. Its too early to say how successful they will be but its definitely something unexpected I typically dismiss these types of student protests because of how inconsistent and unrealistic there demands are in countries like South Africa and the USA. But here we seeing an election being won because of something that students started "Abashed the devil stood and felt how awful goodness is and saw Virtue in her shape how lovely: and pined his loss” John Milton "We don't stop playing because we grow old; we grow old because we stop playing.” - George Bernard Shaw "What counts in life is not the mere fact that we have lived. But the west was largely working fine with Vucic- eg he was selling them weaponry/ ammo to send to Ukraine.Given the state of things now though, I'd question whether the collective west wants a populist challenge to anyone nearby. Too much potential for contagion in distinctly pro west Albania. Or France. Or Spain. Gotta protect that neolib status quo; Euro Forbid we end up with Le Pen in France or even worse, Mélenchon instead of some slimy photogenic vacuum like Macron.Ironic though, all the assurances and assertions that Vucic and Orban were quasi dictators who'd do anything to hold onto power and... well. Both gone, quietly. Pretty much sums up the current state of media.
19 hours ago19 hr Either way the new goverment will need the active support of the people to make any headway in changing anything that matters. Vucic was able to integrate in every level of power that exists in the country and even though he lost the people still remain in those positions of power. Ministers will be changed but that won't matter much if they can't control the institutions they are in charge of.I predict a lot of chaos in the short term, but am still cautiously optimistic that there will be some change. Orban was worse than Vucic but he was limited in how he could undermine free and fair elections because Hungary was part of the EU. But neither country was like Russia, both countries did have free and fair elections which is why you seeing legitimate political change. Thats why Putin and other autocracies will never allow free and fair elections, they cant take the chance of losing an election even if they could win fairly7 hours ago, Sarex said:Either way the new goverment will need the active support of the people to make any headway in changing anything that matters. He has rejected any suggestion that this movement was somehow funded and controlled by the deep state\EU\USAID which is the expected comments how some people dismiss this outcomeHe is pro-Serbia but not anti-Russian or anti-EU but his biggest concern and motivation was the structural corruption and inefficiency that existed under VucicThis is a new party with bold but achievable aspirations and political objectives , We need to give them time. I would say wait 2 years to assess the outcomes? But its good to be cautiously optimistic. As I mentioned I still think its an incredible outcome and unique in modern Democracies that was started from outrage protestsThis type of political change obviously requires commitment and support from enough citizens to make a voting difference. That's whats missing from protests in other countries like USA or South Africa , not enough people agree with the reasons people are protesting about or some of the protesters are not sincere about the issue themselves and that reflects how they decide to voteIn Serbia it was much simpler and enough citizens were united. But that doesnt mean this cant happen in other countries, you just need to find the significant issues that unite people on the ground Edited 11 hours ago11 hr by BruceVC "Abashed the devil stood and felt how awful goodness is and saw Virtue in her shape how lovely: and pined his loss” John Milton "We don't stop playing because we grow old; we grow old because we stop playing.” - George Bernard Shaw "What counts in life is not the mere fact that we have lived. 3 hours ago3 hr Stinky's sock puppet department of injustice is making accusations of "massive" voter fraud, just in time for the election ballot collection.Trump administration asks Washington to set aside ballots from 400 voters it says may be noncitizensNeedless to say, by this point I'm highly skeptical of this claim. But I'm sure it'll be investigated. "Can't sleep the drones will kill me."
1 hour ago1 hr Considering the views on Israel's ostensible global influence this Israeli election should be getting more attentionArab parties make up 16 seats in the Knesset and since no landslide victory or majority is predicted for either main party\coalition these Arab parties will become kingmakersHuge political changes could be coming to Israel and I think many people are underestimating the significance of this electionI was watching on CNN how many Israelis living in other countries are flying back just to vote. They interviewed a large group from the USA who will be voting for change and the opposition blockThis election also has the highest voter turnout in 50 yearshttps://edition.cnn.com/2026/10/27/world/live-news/israel-elections-live-results-latest-votes-intl "Abashed the devil stood and felt how awful goodness is and saw Virtue in her shape how lovely: and pined his loss” John Milton "We don't stop playing because we grow old; we grow old because we stop playing.” - George Bernard Shaw "What counts in life is not the mere fact that we have lived.
