All I recall about that game Amerzone was a PCG review savaging it.  But I guess can't beat the price...although Still Life 2 taught me that free can be too expensive

The survey about a GOG subscription service is terrible.

You can't pick the option "f off, I hate subscription services".

Instead they go "even if you do not find the service interesting what do you think other people could find interesting".

In the end people like myself will quit the survey, so they will only get a limited feedback that will show a 100% interest in the service. And as a bonus they will get some people who will be irritated their time was wasted with a stupid survey (as demonstrated by this post).

  • Sad 1

Unobtrusively informing you about my new ebook (which you should feel free to read and shower with praise).

Posted

Dunno, I was kind of going to ignore the survey but now I feel like I see what's up

..

They should get non completion figures, ie people who started and stopped before completion. They will also get when they stopped. I imagine they will also get some, uh, feedback in other ways on the idea.

In the end, it's a bad survey and a bad idea.

There is a section that let's you rate the idea more directly. That should have come before the 'pick three things five times that you think other people might like' section though for sure if they want an honest response since that section was bad. All 'imagine what other people like' sections are bad on principle and worthless statistically. Not a good approach even if you liked the idea.

As it is it does rather feel like an MBA put it together to confirm the appeal of their brilliant ideas, but personally I tend to think it's just GOG being cackhanded again- let us not forget their marketing team thought saying their service was shutting down was a great idea at one point. The vibe is more overenthusiastic intern to me.

A competent MBA would, of course, outsource to a controlled focus group to make sure they got the results they wanted and with minimal backlash.

I do rather like them making the click through test (the question that determines whether people are reading the questions or answering randomly) extremely obvious instead of asking the same question multiple times with slightly different wording.

Looks like GOG and Capcom struck extensive “retro” deal. After RE 1-3 and Dino Crisis 1-2 PC releases, they released today Breath of Fire IV 😱

I still fire up Heroes of Might and Magic III from time to time. Has the list wrapped up or are more titles still being added?

Unfortunately nothing which required/s Ubisofts stupid DRM was added and probably will not be added in the future, unless Ubi gets sold to someone more willing to remove it from their games.

If you have thoughts about the recent issue with payment processors enforcing some rules about "wrongthink", GOG has put up a press release about it and is offering a bundle for grabs for 48 hours (now already less).

Well, the culprit behind the censorship "drama" is pretty much attacking both "woke" and "anti-woke" content 🤷‍♂️

Not too sure we're showing them by adding this to our libraries, though. But gamers are rising up.

Maybe Postal 2 will be worth a look see, Civvie 11 always praises it.  I was wondering where Hatred was, but that edgelord dross isn't even on the store.

Not too sure we're showing them by adding this to our libraries, though. But gamers are rising up.

Maybe Postal 2 will be worth a look see, Civvie 11 always praises it.  I was wondering where Hatred was, but that edgelord dross isn't even on the store.

Why has elegance found so little following? Elegance has the disadvantage that hard work is needed to achieve it and a good education to appreciate it. - Edsger Wybe Dijkstra

I have claimed the bundle and played Treasure of Nadia for 30 minutes. I am unsure what I expected in terms of writing and gameplay. The 7GB of looped pre-rendered animations are generally fine, I guess. If anyone else tried any of the other games in the bundle, is there anything worth playing (that is not Postal 2)?

I dove deep into the adulty parts of the interwebz and looked around a bit.

Well, there is a lot of Renpy in that list, so expect those games to be a similar experience to Treasure of Nadia (so not really worth your time).

Leap of Love changes the formula to at least to such extend that you are boosting your skills to impress a girl and live happily ever after - so the adult part isn't the main focus as in those other games, that are just an excuse to throw mediocre renders at you. Honestly, reading up on Leap of Love, I like the concept that you are a frog turned prince, but now you have to make sure a princes will actually want you around for ever after, so you don't get re-frogged. Adult version of Long Live The Queen, without being the queen.

HuniePop is the only one on the list I actually played years and years ago. It is a decent match 3 game, and I play match 3 games to zone out. But there is so many, I have enough SFW choices that I don't need the NSFW ones.

Sapphire Safari seems to be national geographics meets monster girl porn. So again at least it gets points for trying something different. Personally not my thing once more. But then again, nothing in that bundle is 😛

If I were to play any of the games on that list, it would be HuniePop for matching threes, Leap of Love for helping an amphibian out, or Sapphire Safari as a walking simulator. But match 3s and walking simulators you have better choices in the SFW part of gaming, because as always, those aspects of a game you aren't interested in do affect the ones you are - dev time is limited. For example the devs who thought King Arthur Knight's Tale needs a VS mode, took time away from the programmers that could have been used to properly integrate the free dlc into the campaign.

Which means, meh. I wouldn't waste my time if I were you.

Unobtrusively informing you about my new ebook (which you should feel free to read and shower with praise).

Thank you very much for the detailed response. Leap of Faith and Sapphire Safari sound fine - I liked Long Live the Queen (including the untimely demise near the ending because I did not get the magic crystal), so will try after completing the games I am currently playing (Planescape: Torment and Blasphemous 2).

Regarding the match-3 games, I recently finished Creepy Redneck Dinosaur Mansion 3 and it was an amazing experience (the story was about game development). Though, might not be the most suitable title to zone out to.

I can only repeat myself: Fetish Locator is a gem of an adult visual novel.

It even has a taboo mode for whoever doesn't want to boff their sister. If that doesn't tell you how much thought went into the game then I don't know what will.
