The thing I don't really get about MAGA is, where's the plan? If supporters want to succeed, how are they going to do it? Nobody seems to be asking about that. About all the first term administration of DJT accomplished in that regard was adding tariffs, but that's a recidivist approach that history demonstrates will fail. Nations become great through advancing knowledge and technology, combined with resources. If you don't keep up with advances, others will leave you behind. But the MAGA party is decidedly opposed to various aspects of modern science: just take their views on RNA-based vaccines, for example. They merely seem content to roll back the clock, and succeed by making it worse for others. It's a zero-sum perspective with little chance of success.

It’s almost impossible to differentiate between maga cultists and interwar German brown shirts and Italian black shirts. Their main concern isn’t building a better future but to have a go (sometimes violently) at what they fear and what they hate. People who live high enough up on Mazlows(sp?) pyramid cant necessarily empathise with such people

Project 2025?

But thats not the official policy of Trump, this   has been  clarified many times  by the  Trump campaign

https://www.npr.org/2024/08/22/g-s1-19202/trump-project-2025-border-immigration

""They've been told officially, legally, in every way, that we have nothing to do with Project 25,” Trump said. β€œThey know it, but they bring it up anyway. They bring up every single thing that you can bring up. Every one of them was false.”

The Heritage Foundation is just one of   over 100 Conservative thinktanks   that has people who advise Trump or might advise Trump if he wins

Project 2025 is a 930 document and some Conservative  ideas in that document are normal Conservative views that Trump claims to support

But there is constant fake news suggestions that Trump  is going to implement the entirety of Project 2025  if he wins ,  including the worst policies,  and thats not true

It has also been established several times that Trump is lying about that and only started lying about that when it became clear project 2025 was deeply unpopular.

If you can  post the links around how Trump is planning to implement Project 2025 that would be interesting

Let me give you an example so its clear what I mean

Project 2025 believes in a Federal ban on abortion, Trump has said he doesn't believe in that and he will leave it up to states to decide

Do you think Trump is lying about that and if he wins the election he will implement a Federal ban?

This is just one example of where he doesnt support what Project 2025 believes should be policy

Yes. He is constantly lying. He supported abortion bans and suddenly walked it the heck back and tried to downplay it when he realised what a deeply unpopular move it was.

Thats fine but you acknowledging he doesn't agree with the Federal ban around abortion that Project 2025 espouses?

The point is Trumps policies and views are not the same as the  Project 2025 doctrine but there are some things he agrees with because they considered standard Conservative policies or policies Trump does believe in

Here is one of the images that clearly creates the wrong impression and uses fearmongering as if Project 2025 doctrine is the same as Trumps policies (most of these points you can reference in the  930 page  Project 2025 manifesto which is why the pages are included )

So if you interested in the truth you should look at each point individually and see if Trump agrees with them and then you can be concerned

Half these things points would be rejected and  challenged at the state level in Democratic controlled states , I cant  imagine liberal California banning gender studies  or African American history but Texas might

No! I acknowledge that he SAID he doesn't agree with it once it became apparent that it was deeply unpopular! Again, he is a liar!

Okay but we werent talking about if  Trump is a liar

This debate is about Project 2025 and does it align with Trumps policies that he wants to implement

Are you saying you believe Trump will in fact implement a Federal ban on abortion if he wins the election?

Im not sure if you aware but his wife, Melania, is openly pro-choice but respects pro-life views

https://www.axios.com/2024/10/02/melania-trump-abortion-rights-memoir

" What she's saying: In her first memoir, set to be released Tuesday, Melania Trump wrote that it's "imperative to guarantee that women have autonomy in deciding their preference of having children, based on their own convictions, free from any intervention or pressure from the government," per The Guardian.

"Why should anyone other than the woman herself have the power to determine what she does with her own body?" she questioned. "A woman's fundamental right of individual liberty, to her own life, grants her the authority to terminate her pregnancy if she wishes."

"Restricting a woman's right to choose whether to terminate an unwanted pregnancy is the same as denying her control over her own body. I have carried this belief with me throughout my entire adult life," the former first lady continued.

"The slogan 'My Body, My Choice' is typically associated with women activists and those who align with the pro-choice side of the debate," she added. "But if you really think about it, 'My Body, My Choice' applies to both sides β€” a woman's right to make an independent decision involving her own body, including the right to choose life. Personal freedom."

The problem with a guy like Trump is he has no policy, nor does he represent anyone but his own interests. He'll change opinion faster than an A/C current if he thinks it benefits him personally. Which is also why it's hard to quote him sometimes, because he'll champion both sides depending on the audience. As long as they declare their undying love for him... I.e. trying to attribute a particular policy (for or against) to Trump is an exercise in futility.

I concur. Even many of his supporters say he'd be great, if only he'd shut up and stop saying stupid things. I find now the news services are grabbing just the bits and pieces of his rambling that they can assemble into a rational statement. It almost doesn't matter what he says, people will just pick out what they want to hear. Expect four more years of stupid concepts, instability, and a misguided foreign policy. I plan to tune him out as much as is humanly possible.

I edited the post to make it a little clearer, I sometimes forget that I am no longer as active in these discussions as I used to be. :) No, I am not serious, The Tangerine in Chief is a serious challenge to my humanist and pacifist outlook, to the point where my first reaction to the assassination attempt at his rally was not "damn, did we reach the next level of escalation?" but rather "why'd he miss?"...
