Malcador Posted September 24, 2020 Posted September 24, 2020 We provide an example that people of different ideologies can peacefully co-exist. As long as we don't know where each other live. And don't have access to weapons. 1 Why has elegance found so little following? Elegance has the disadvantage that hard work is needed to achieve it and a good education to appreciate it. - Edsger Wybe Dijkstra
Darkpriest Posted September 25, 2020 Posted September 25, 2020 Oh, 2020 election will be so much fun. If you don't have reliable methods of voting remotely, you just should nit do that... https://www.the-sun.com/news/1529924/mail-in-ballots-trump-trashed-pennsylvania/ Things like this, will only give fuel for both sides to toss more **** at each other and push polarization to a breaking point. You have big tech located in US, yet you cannot get something simple as online voting, where post service reps could walk house to house and collect votes via a remote pad after verification of the voter. And this could also be tracked as each voter would have their own profile (name/address/id) and they could check if they are marked as "voted" or not, to control if they are the ones who gave a vote.

Other areas included. The crime statistics are just... Well you know best. Would you really feel safe outside of living in a gated and privately secured community? Guest The Architect Posted September 25, 2020 Posted September 25, 2020 (edited) As for Australian politics, there's a nickname for our Prime Minister, Scott Morrison, which is 'ScoMo.' He tries to play up the 'ocker' persona in an attempt to feel relatable to the working class, and his nickname is one way of doing that. Another way is his piss poor beer sculling attempt. The truth is, he is a pimple on the arse cheek of the deceased Bob Hawke. I saw a comment referring to fossil fuel puppet man as 'Scovid.' Now that's a nickname I can get behind. It's too bad, though, that the opposition is as soft as a fleece blanket. Edited September 25, 2020 by The Architect

Guard Dog Posted September 25, 2020 Posted September 25, 2020 Democrats prepare bill limiting U.S. Supreme Court justice terms to 18 years So.... is anyone going to tell them Article 3 fixes SCOTUS appointments for life? This law, even if passed and signed, will be struck down. Not that Democrats give a flying f--k what the Constitution says unless it allows them to do what they want. Used to be the Republicans were the defenders of the Constitution. Ah the joy of remembering days long gone. Anyway. The only way this happens id by Constitutional Amendment. That is sort of a pain in the butt. And it takes years. But the Democrats are many things. Stupid isn't one of them. Other than AOC. I suspect they know this bill goes nowhere. Sometimes politicians do this kind of s--t to appear to be "doing" something about one of Mencken's Hobgoblins. Considering that USPS and therefore handling of mail-in-ballots is responsibility of executive branch or government and therefore ultimately it is sitting president whose job it is to ensure that all the ballots go in right place. Which makes it bit funny when Trump accuses that you can't trust in the vote by mail system.

Gfted1 Posted September 25, 2020 Posted September 25, 2020 Religion doesnt exclude science. But it is a fantastically effective way to control billions of people. Btw, your "all US" schtick will probably work better on Reddit. EDIT: Nevermind, GD on the hook. "I'm your biggest fan, Ill follow you until you love me, Papa"

It's hard to believe that, this close to the election, that anyone who intends on voting would still be undecided. If Trump supporters haven't been swayed by now, after all his failures, then nothing will, least of all not by facts and evidence. I like the Socratic method, but that's not going to work on everyone, and you have to be good at asking questions that make their clarification a cluster****. I couldn't keep count of how many times I've seen a politician dodge a good question.
Guard Dog Posted September 25, 2020 Posted September 25, 2020 Well I’m of the opinion that a persons religion is unique and personal to them. The best way to spread it is to be an example of it. Not use it as a club to browbeat other people into thinking like you do. But that’s just me. I also think religious convictions deserve to be and should be challenged from time to time. Besides, what do you think is more pleasing to God? Blind acceptance of what someone said? Or cold rational deduction that God is real and does, on occasion, takin an interest in the humans. And the other critters to. "While it is true you learn with age, the down side is what you often learn is what a damn fool you were before" Thomas Sowell

Well given all countries are different and do things their own way, it's fair to comment on it. As for the border being closed that's due to the virus running more free in the US than here (although the closure is a bit fake, Americans are still coming through). I think gangs here get a lot of their guns from MI, and since the border's closed a lot more stabbings in Toronto so I assume they got their bullets from there too Edited September 25, 2020 by Malcador 1 Why has elegance found so little following? Gfted1 Posted September 25, 2020 Posted September 25, 2020 I really should check my mailbox for the vote by mail ballot. Since we pay everything electronically we only check the mail every 7-10 days.
