Force Enlightenment. Master Speed, Master Valour, Master Armour (I think that's what the power's called), turn 'em all on with force enlightenment, and I was dancing around the Ravager, dealing graceful death left and right, with nary a hit on my character. (the fact I threw in master battle meditation and master energy resistance too helped). Yes, as you may have noticed, my play style basically consists of force-buffing powers and lightsaber 'em to death. Used to do that in Jedi Knight 2 as well....

What would you have the next 'Darth' be?
Ashe replied to Sithmasteryoungy's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Darth Helmet. *ducks* -
Nihilus as the exiles' dark reflection/echo. Certainly one of the more plausible and popular theories out there, although I should like to know when the scene with Traya, Sion and Nihilus was so I can pin down whether Nihilus was around before malachor (even if only as a normal jedi)

KOTOR2: Hottest Male Character

Sion for his voice. -
No specific setting for "image settings" but there's one option I've swapped from "quality" to "high quality." I'll try that and see what happens.

Only if I can have a sniper called Cain the Longshot... or heck, an older LS (or maybe DS or neutral) consular called Chapel the Evergreen.. with his former padawan (spoiler tags for anyone unlucky enough not to have seen the anime) Although actually, can you imagine the programming and plot-device effort i you had an LS guardian/weaponmaster named Ranma Saotome? With all that implies? It'd make Dxun highly amusing.... not to mention the romance issues...

I'm not sure whether this is a bug or a side efect, but I've tried this on all AA/AnIso settings, and it seems to keep happening if I've got the framebuffer effects set to on. When I ignite a lightsaber (anybodys,) the glow that surrounds it looks blocky and polygon-like, with radiating lines where the blocks meet (sort oflike a starburst effect.) This, I would assume, happens with all sabres, but the effect is most noticeable with the silver, cyan and viridian blades (ie. the lightest, whitest ones.) Is this a graphics glitch? A graphics side efect? Or could it be my gamma/monitor settings? Athlon XP 2000+ nforce2 mb. 512mb Ram. Geforce fx5900xt (128mb) using forceware 66.93 WinXp Pro SP2 Latest Dx.

Heh, turn your subwoofer up to max, speak with any ithorian, and feel the walls shake. Damn that's some heavy bass in there.

Nice little tie-in to Baldur's Gate
Ashe replied to BruceDickenson's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Read the game entries on IMDB at some point. It's quite enlightenening what some of these voice actors have actually done., not just in terms of games, but in terms of cartoons, and in some cases Hollywood films (and the obvious Star Trek bloke from KotOR1) -
So, can we have a link for that one? As far as I can tell, Luasforums have disables search, so hunting through every one of those posts is going to be a soul-grinding experience, much like Peragus.

Disciple has something too, though I can't remember what it is. What I do know is that it's far more useless than what you get from the handmaiden, so that's a black mark against playing a female exile right there. Damn my mistyping

Anything better than Jal Shey Mentor Armour?
Ashe replied to a topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Best I've been able to find in terms of the force armours is Zeison Sha Initiate armour. Still trying to get a warrior armour though. Anyone know if it only spawns above specific levels? (and yes, I realise that I can just cheat some in, but oddly, while I don't mind reloading for ages to try and get some from a shop or a cache, I really don't want to have to cross that line into enabling the cheats to do it.) -
I dunnow. Palpy's a devious barsteward, manipulative old buzzard, call him what you will. Question is, people call yoda things like "little green wrinkly frog." Are we now speciesist. too? I still maintain with this topic that there are no hangups but the ones you bring with you, like the dark side cave on dagobah.

That's the international version patches I think, the ones that correct the manual file and supposedly correct some of the dialogue spellings for assorted locales. Don't know how well it works, but I've had no problems caused by installing the uk version. They are from lucasarts.

the beginning of one phrase... "Chiding Statement: Oh jedi..."

Umm. No. This may just be my interpretation, but something atton says to her implies that it's a little more than that. Pretty much he implies that he knows echani ettiquette, and implies that the lack of clothing is not part of it, thus that she is deliberatly stripping down, and stripping down the exile. Admittedly, it's odd, but it seems to be an attempt at seduction. Maybe you could see that as demeaning, but look at it from another way, this is a woman who has no need of a man to defend her, so isn't conforming to the stereotype of "i'm weak, come here you big strong man and protect me." I don't knowmuch about seduction, so I can't say too much more on this. I interpret that as less of a "broken woman" and more of a "broken person of whatever gender." To me the emphasis is on the being subordinate to the will, not the gender issue. it's about the person, their spirit, mind and will, not what organs the person has. Kreia is Such tactics are stock in trade of that kind of person. Out and Out combat prowess isn't. Leave that to people like Sion or Maul. Most of what Kreia does, I could see done by a male equivalent with no differences. Which leaves it down to a 50/50 choice. Although you're also tapping into the crone/wise woman archetypes, which are by no means demeaning or derogratry to women (ask any pagan.) I don't personally see that gender politics has any need to be brought in here. No hangups, except what you bring with you. Look at the characters in terms of powers and personalities, not as mere gender ciphers.

I mostly chose buddy christ because he's about the only male face not to have a buzz-cut or other really really short haircut. Damnit, I know it's not that easy to animate, but the female faces with longer haircuts were pretty much cool, so why couldn't some longer-haired men get in on the act? (Yes, this is a pet gripe of mine. I don't like really short haircuts on men. It just seems like, for technical reasons (or otherwise, there were certainly jedi men with long hair *cough*qui-gon*cough*) we aren't allowed to have long hair in game. So I'm left looking like my character just stepped out of a burberry catalogue.)

What kotor1 character do you want to see in kotor3
Ashe replied to Bokishi's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Carth as Admiral? Kind of works, ish, but I always saw him as more of a James T Kirk kind of officer, much happier in his pilot chair or command chair of his ship cruising the galaxy, than behind a desk. (Which is one of the nice things about the SW universe. Even admirals still get to ply the space-lanes.) Aside from the obvious (Bastila, hah, how do I love thee, let me count the ways... ) , I's ay Mission. if you could get around the fact that if you DS's KOTOR1 you had a good chance of killing her (Never tried sending her away, does that work, or do you still have to wipe her out?) then you could have her come back as a fairly strong character. I suppose the whole question is, does she actually die or do you leave her for dead? Cheesy plot hook, but venerable and well-respected movies have used it. Zalbaar would have been interesting to see.... Zalbaar vs Hanharr for the honour of Kashyyykk (I think thats spelt right) Although a mix cvould be quite... interesting. Female revan, female exile, Bastila, growed-up Mission, Mira, handmaiden, Visas, all in the same party... Vogga the Hutts party, preferably. I'll get me coat. :"> -
What we can do about the state of TSL
Ashe replied to Dehumanizer's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Yeah true. I'd like to see the droid factory, amongst other things. The Atton debate has more or less been done to death, except that I personally agree that the provided ending is pants, but on the whole, I'd rather half my characters didn't die, thank you very much. Leave 'em barely alive, and in prime location to be rescued, but give me an opportunity to mount a heroic rescue (with all that entails). Star Wars had always been about heroes and villains, good vs. evil. While often dramatic and emotional, I'm not sure that a phyrric victory or one of those "well, all my friends died... but I won" endings is apropriate to the setting, unless maybe at a stretch you're talking an ESB/ROTS kind of deal (bad things just happened, but there's another episode to set it all right.) I'm just a sucker for a happy ending, really.
