  1. Intellect isn't a dump stat as the duration of effects and AOE for certain abilities is important for certain builds. Might is op; which why I suggested moving the it's influence over healing to resolve which would make might less appealing to certain builds. That and we should get 2 less attribute points. Overall the attribute system is fine; it just needs tweaking. Perfectly understandable considering this is just the beta.
  2. I'm hoping they will give you xp in the future for finding that dungeon entrance and getting it open, and dealing with that enemy party. If Obsidian leaves it as it is though poe is screwed. I feel like broken record.
  3. Overall, I'm pretty happy with the attribute system. Might/Perception/Resolve could use the tweaks I mentioned before, but overall it works.
  4. The 2D environments are great, the combat is beyond abysmal. On a scale of 1 to 10, I'm enjoying the beta regret/10. Obviously the ship has sailed, but I'd cancel my order to get even a quarter of what I pledged back. I'm hoping I can offload an unopened collectors for like $40 after release. And I thought I was upset. It's too early to give up man. This is just the beta; give Obsidian a chance to make things right. How is the beta so far? Very buggy. Buggy and flawed; like a beta would normally be.
  5. This is an issue I'd like to comment on. There are two major problems that need to discussed: A) First Issue: Laws preventing self-employment. One of the main reasons people can't get work is because in most of the country these days it is almost impossible in America to be self employed, and thus people need to find a business to hire them. There are many reasons people can't be self employed very easily. A big one is licensing. Basically, it's illegal to do almost anything without a license. Illegals can easily self employ themselves since they don't follow the law anyway. So, there is no way the menial jobs illegals do could be done by citizens because it would be illegal for said citizen to do so. Get rid of stupid licensing laws and you'll see unemployment go down, and you'll see Americans doing work that many illegals do. B) Second Issue: Ferguson. I need to be quite frank; no one is entitled to be given a job. You need to go get or make one yourself. If there are no jobs in Ferguson; move. There are towns in this country where unemployment is very low and a quick look on the internet could tell you where they are.
  6. That's exactly what would happen; I have heard however, that they will be adding additional xp for killing special monsters, or finding hidden ruins. If that is the case; there will be xp for general exploration which is good. If that isn't the case; poe is in serious trouble.
  7. I'm not saying if you have low resolve a healer won't heal you as much, but those who do heal themselves and others have a major need for might, and little need for resolve. This will remedy that. If you are say, a priest: Priests have spells that hurt/impare foes, and spells that heal allies. As of now; both spells are influenced by might. Thus priest basically NEED might. If however, resolve handled healing instead of might; a priest would be torn between might and resolve. Which attribute to pick would be chosen based on the desired build. As for other classes; the concentration issue affects front-liners since they are always being attacked, and if I recall correctly; they will/do have some abilities that heal at least themselves. Those abilities should be influenced by resolve.
  8. That's an interesting idea, but the default range of attacks would probably have to be nerfed a bit first; otherwise it'll be game breaking. Maybe 30% max range downgrade from the default and that range could end up doubled. I could see that working. Too be honest; I think that is too radical a change for Obsidian to do, but it could have worked if that was their idea from the begining. My idea is to just give perception a + 0.25% chance to crit. This is assuming you keep the interrupt effect.
  9. I've looked into this issue and I believe I have a simple solution to poe's attribute woes: A) Might should not affect healing rate. Damage and fortitude defense is enough. Right now might is op. This will fix it. B) Resolve should affect healing instead of might. Resolve is both under-powered and not useful enough for every class. This will fix it. C) Perception needs to be given a very minor chance to increase your crit rate. I'd say about +0.25%. This will fix perception. Give us 2 less attribute points Done. Poe will now have pretty balanced attributes.
  10. I'd say it almost justifies a samurai class.
  11. I thought one of the problems with Resolve was that casters (positioned correctly) weren't getting hit at all and so interruption never even came into play. I like the idea of adding a crit bonus to Perception, though. The fact they aren't getting hit has more to do with the ai and current engagement mechanics so far. Once the ai is improved (and it will be improved) you will find keeping casters completely safe to be a real challenge.
  12. Yes because you skipped through tons of content with knowledge about enemies that you couldnt have on your first playthrough. You basicaly exploited the games balance problems like basiliks beeing complelty useless if you have a potion against petrification. Of course you can get a very high level in baldurs gate without doing quest, but thats easy in a game where you can exploit win any fight because of the ****ty combat AI and mages beeing completly not balanced. About ignorant posts, you should look into a mirror. Most of your posts are rather self centric whines about how your oppinion matters more than everyone else. What you said was objectively not true and deserved exactly the treatment it got. I should also note that on my very first play through of BG I got multiple level ups while exploring. It was a central aspect of that game. Needing to do quests exclusively for xp is role-play killing if you are playing anything but a servant. Kill xp was very important in BG. To deny that is simply idiotic.
  13. So Resolve will only be useful to classes with access to healing? Resolve is already useful for casters due to the concentration boost. Now it will also be useful for healers due to the healing boost. before they would rush for might, but now it would be a tougher call.
  14. I'm gonna post my solution poe's attribute system: I've looked into this issue and I believe I have a simple solution to poe's attribute woes: A) Might should not affect healing rate. 15. There really ought to be a dislike button. This is the most absurd nonsense I have ever read. Let's make one thing very clear: the kill xp in BG leads to many level ups. When I first killed a greater basalisk I got 7000 xp and went strait from level 2 to level 3. Killing sirens gets you 1000 xp per kill; in BG that's a lot. I justplayed through BG a month ago and skipped half the quests; I reached the level cap. What's bizarre is how some one could even post something so ignorant.

  18. It's in beta and these kinds of issues are typical. Expect poe to run smoother upon release.
  19. Interesting. So we actually don't need kill XP. We just have to let people think they get it when in fact they don't. They'll get wise when they don't ever level up.
  20. Complicated fighting techniques require you are smart enough to learn them.
  21. Am I to understand that you played the beta and enjoyed the combat just fine until reading on the forum that you weren't receiving XP for each kill? Because, if so, that's absurd. Please tell me that you didn't get retroactively upset about not having received an instant gratification reward that you didn't even miss at the time. I'll just hope that you haven't played the beta and you just meant that you thought per-kill XP was hidden from view in gameplay videos you watched. "Let's all be rogues and go around them! puh-leez." = "completing objectives in any way besides my favorite way is wrong and shouldn't be rewarded equally to my favorite way." Okay, if you say so. It was a placebo effect. He thought he was getting xp; so he felt the xp high.
  22. Does anyone know if this is true? If it is; I'm not upset about the lack of kill xp. I just wanted to explore and make progress without being on a quest.
  23. It was probably a waste of development time to make it, but getting rid of it is as much a waste.
  24. Ugh. Why would you want them to matter? Classes forcing race choices for optimization is one of the things I hate most in DnD. If they doesn't matter then you should remove them totally. Adding something in system that doesn't matter - is bad game design. Why? Who does it hurt? Yes they play only a bit different, but that doesn't mean it needs to go. Getting rid of race modifiers would be like killing a mocking bird.
  25. Carole King knows why this is a bad idea.
