I'm all for horn sections, but I have to admit I liked the keyboard filling in the sounds and the Tsugaru Syamisen doing the lead vocals more than I expected to.

Weird. Thanks for the information; the linked article was confusing, and it seems the situation itself may just be confusing even with your added information.

So is the issue that he just didn't have the proper permits? Or was storing it in an disallowed area? Why is it not okay for him to have it but a different German collector could have the anti-air gun?
-
So he's a collector and they're telling him he must sell or donate to a museum or a...collector? Yes, I assume they mean a collector outside of Germany whose local laws allow them to own the items, but you'd think they'd bother to point that out...

It was announced as a multiyear project, Hollywood Reporter putting it at 5 seasons.

Not sure why it'd matter that the Russians were pushing it; its my understanding the ADHD medicine is allowed for athletes (and that she was using it wouldn't be known had someone not leaked her medical report).

That would be really sad. I guess ironic funny, but also sad.

I think the Biles connection came because the interviewer prefaced his question about Djokovic's own pressure seeking the Gold in context of his year so far with a comment mentioning Biles' statements upon withdrawing. "Pressure is a Privilege" is the title of a memoir by Billie Jean King, so makes sense as a phrase to discuss the pressures of tennis specifcally. While there is no clear evidence one way or the other specific to Biles medication for ADHD, athletes have been given an exemption for medicines that were prescribed to them even if that medicine would otherwise be illegal in Japan as is typical with Olympic competitions. While its not specifically known if Biles filed for permission to bring her ADHD medicine, since she had done so for Rio it makes sense she would have for Japan as well. Djokovic's reaction was a bit over the top, but being injured during the Olympics is a big blow to his entire year, so I understand his frustration even if I don't really condone his method of venting that frustration (I'm not a fan of any of the racket abuse, shouting or other things that you see in pro-Tennis; didn't like it with John McEnroe, don't like it now). Also to be fair understanding that you have to find constructive ways to deal with pressure and actually having a constructive way to deal with pressure aren't really the same thing.

Last I heard the MegaCity 1 TV show that was being developed (with the possibility Urban might guest star occasionally as Dredd) was still in development, but I admit its been awhile since I heard any new news. It was a pity Dredd wasn't received well enough to get an automatic sequel; I really liked it and Urban as Dredd and Thirlby as Anderson were both good, IMO.

Nope, I don't see cup.

Honestly ViacomCBS seems to be happy with his work; I'm guessing that the ST shows have driven users to CBS ALL ACCESS and subsequently PARAMOUNT+ regardless of the internet reaction. That said with so much expansion in the ST shows, I can't imagine Kurtzman will have the ability to be superhands onto every project. So who gets picked to showrun might be more important. Also does it help that he mentions a Worf pitch?

Eh, a company selling merchandise(?) already has the Cleveland Spiders .com registration, so they'll just be changing one fight for another. Unless they do like the Cleveland Spidazzzzz or something.
-
Yeah, that was real awkward.

The visuals are great, I'm not disputing that. Back in 1989(?) when Streamline put it in theaters I was impressed with the visuals of the film, and I think a lot of it is still top notch work today. Story...eh... Again visually its a solid film, but narratively - well, I didn't like the manga. I never claimed to have taste! Have you seen some of the z-grade films I've liked? *resists urge to make jokes regarding the sexy lady art in Shirow's work*

IMO, if you're going to do anything with Akira (1988), I'd recommend reading the manga. The movie isn't really a great movie, IMO, and while I can appreciate the technical virtuosity of the film, I think the story is far, far too condensed in the film version. Then again, I thought the Ghost in the Shell manga was the weakest work by Masamune Shirow I'd read, and didn't like the anime adaption either, so my tastes don't seem to align with everyone else when it comes to anime...

What you've done today - There will be no dawn for Men
Amentep replied to Gorth's topic in Way Off-Topic
Yeah they're super-territorial. So when you get a group that realizes you've got food in their yard you'll see them chasing one another off. Makes it harder to watch them though as they tend to not spend as much time still (but I also think it may be why your hummingbird didn't alight, in case another hummingbird came by). -

Wait until you get two and they start trying to drive one another off! -
I'm really, really going to be intrigued to see what I think when I get around to Discovery/Picard/Short Treks/Lower Decks/Prodigy....

I think the Voyager spin-off is something Duncan McNeil has had in mind for some time and would like to put together in the new climate. If so, he'll need to talk to Alex Kurtzman who recently made an overall deal for his production company to remain with Paramount, including possibly 6 more years heading the Star Trek franchise.

I think when you're a kid you don't think about the origin of stuff. I remember watching the movies Alakazam the Great (Saiyūki -1960) and Jack and the Witch (Shōnen Jakku to Mahōtsukai - 1967) and the tv shows Battle of the Planets (Kagaku Ninja Tai Gatchaman - 1972) and Star Blazers (Uchū Senkan Yamato 1974) and didn't really think about their origin until years later when Robotech started getting popular and I was older. The big difference to me as a kid was the serialized storytelling, unlike the US cartoons that were self contained stories with no real continuity.

THE GREEN KNIGHT (2021) - surprisingly faithful art film like take on the source material. Very striking images. There are some minor changes (in the original story, Gawain's early adventures are glossed over, yet they are seen here. This shortens the time in the later part of the story and there is some restructuring of the end. The biggest change, IMO, WILLY'S WONDERLAND (2020) - Nick Cage gets an odd job in order to repair his car, and spends the night cleaning a restaurant. Some teens bother him and the local sheriff dislikes him. 10/10. RISE OF THE MUMMY (2021) - microbudgeted horror film from the UK. The kind of film where a priceless mummy is left unguarded in a classroom and characters look straight at things but don't see them for a scare later on. Fun if you like this type of film, terrible for everyone else.

TNG Ship in a Bottle You know you've encountered Q too many times when you experience something that you state repeatedly defies the laws of physics and you just roll with it rather than look for ways that it could have been faked. Episode mainly sails on the strength of Moriarty and Barclay.
