  1. Confess! And repent! That most of you have used scroll of paralysis! (At least I did) There's no shame in that, I treated the fight just as if it were my Vailian Warband fighting against the Adra Dragon.
  2. There is no need to bash on players who min/max and disregard the RP aspect of PoE. Many of them (including me) are often fans of the IWD series who focus more on combat and mechanics over RP and immersion. If anything, min/max'ing actually allows for more clarity on the balance of the game. Our inputs on whether a certain stat or class are useless or not are just as important as the RP players' inputs on whether some of the pre-made companions are cookie-cutter or mary sues. After all, PoE is a spiritual successor of all the IE games, and that includes IWD, too.
  3. Folks gon' OD on those magico items man. *Crimson cervical vertebrae voice*
  4. There are times when we as players are required to use our own intuition and figure things out the good ol' fashioned way: trial and error. People have perfected the art of throwing fireballs without harming teammates in BG even without those AoE indicators, afterall.. But yes, it would be nice if more info is given without such hassle.
  5. I have actually tried that on my earlier PotD runs with a Rautai Dwarf, maxed 21 Con, at the expense of some perception. As others have pointed out, since constitution is percentage based, my old tank took more hits and gained only so little extra endurance/health that maxed perception/resolve still outweighs constitution with the current stats. I really hope they'd put minimal might restriction on armors and increase constitution % per point to discourage min/max'ing. Can you explain better please cuz i'm not really familiar with English. In one word : are you dissapointed from gave 21 CON to your dwarf ? Yes. While difficulty makes min/max more or less important, I agree that it isn't a necessity. Though this game probably have 2 extreme types of gamers with the majority somewhere in between: those who care mostly about the story and not so much about combat, and those who care far more about the challenge of combat. So for those who combat is a significantly higher focus than the RP experience, it makes sense to min/max stats and chars. While I prefer to have characters with slightly flawed stats (don't mind the companion stats whatsoever) since they make them more interesting and realistic in my mind. I'm still on my first playthrough with an orlan melee rogue whose stats I assigned before I had a proper grasp on how the system worked, she's kinda flawed but still fun to play since it's a challenge sometimes to make things work around those flaws. I did the same with Icewind Dale. Once I'm comfortable with the content, I stopped min/max'ing and have just good enough/mediocre stats to get by. That in itself is another challenge.

  7. I know but i see here people who minimize that stat (so it goes down to 3 or less) Mostly for the backline characters where they are specialized in doing damage rather than taking damage.. I believe this guide will give you much more insights: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=416939844
  8. Depends on what difficulty you're playing on and what roles you want for your characters, constitution can be either important or useless. For my Path of the Damned run frontline tanks, I have his stats at: The White that Wends Human (Hearth Orlans are still the best option I believe) 4 Might (Min) 15 Cons (Average) 3 Dex (Min) 19 Per (Max) 18 Int (Max) 19 Res (Max) Although for everyone else except my DPS Fighter I have either minimal constitution or below average constitution. Here are the three screenshots that will probably tell the story better than my descriptions: Tank Fighter DPS Fighter DPS Mage Note that the tank fighter have deflected more attacks than the DPS one, though the statistics is not available for dodges (Still lobbying for it)
  9. It would also be nice if Statistics can store more information: Crowd Controls: How many times a character has caused knocked down, stunned, whatever status effect there is. Defenses: How many attacks have the character dodged/deflected or saved against. (Perfect for front-line statistics) For #1, it might confuse players the most since it grants the actual ability to the character without specifying the details. You can still check the granted ability and what it does through character sheet by clicking on it.. in most cases, anyways. It's somewhat of a clutch and can be improved, but the information is still there. You are probably aware of this, but for #3, you can hover your cursor over the ability and press F1 through F11 to hotkey it. The hotkey is automatically disabled if those are keybound to other purposes such as Quick Save/Load. (I have mine the same as the good ol' IE games, Q for quicksave and L for quickload) I prefer it this way as it is far similar to the IE games as opposed to other sandbox RPGs. The rest on your list is comprehensive and agreeable.
  10. Make that all companions (NPC ones included) and I'm all aboard. As long as I'll have to get a hold of a ___keeper tool to make cosmetic changes to my NPC companions, I'd see no point in doing it half-assed with just PC companions. The perks of those joinable NPCs are that they have stories, dialogues, and interjections of their own; even their description the first time the player had met them are fixated. Hired Adventurers don't, therefore changing their voice-sets and portraits won't impact immersion as much as predefined joinable NPCs. I'd still keep it similar to BG multiplayer mode. If it is more in-depth changes such as stats, abilities, and such even after hiring/joining that you're advocating, then those are beyond my original suggestion. Depends on personal preferences, though. That would make the stronghold resting bonus too OP and turn the other inns around the world obsolete, can't say I agree with this change completely. Some extra buffs to the resting bonus would be welcome though. The B*tch Queen's Envoy from Icewind Dale still echoes in my head to this day... Can't say PoE unique items have done the same. Perhaps something can be done with Magren the Wh*re Goddess, lol I somewhat like how they disallowed pre-buffing, it discourages meta-gaming (still possible, but even less so) as well as forcing the players to make efficient decisions through battles. I like these suggestions, too many pets, not enough slots! Yea, I think it was mentioned somewhere but the highlighting can be similar to the Diablo series.
  11. Hi, Please post whatever is on your mind that may further balance the mechanics and gameplay. You don't have to agree with mine, and a objective discussion is always welcomed. Here are 4 I can think of: 1. Remove pet collision (Quality of Life improvement) - Pets can still block the way from time to time; when the party is out-of-combat it is possible for the characters to trigger traps due to pets. Taking off pets and then putting it back on kind of defeats the purpose of having something that "passively" observes your progress. 2. Buff Constitution (Mechanics Balancing) - Right now, I believe the consensus is that constitution is the most effective "dump" stat out of all the other stats due to its low negative/positive effect on character health. This drastically makes the joinable companions weaker than hired adventurers even though they have the early advantage of higher exp (2k exp or higher, depends on how fast the player hires the adventurers) Punish the player even further for having low constitution characters, and award those that commit points into it. 3. Allow minimal customization on post-hired Adventurers (Character Portraits, voice sets, perhaps even biography) - I loved the Icewind Dale series, and I dare say the series are held in higher regard to other IE games (for me) due to the fact that I get to fully customize all 6 characters to my heart's fullest extent. Though if I made a mistake on or disliked the character portrait or voice set, I can always change it via character sheet in IWD. Of course, the choices I made on the classes and leveling will still be stuck. 4. "Annoyed" Voice-overs (Quality of Life improvement, not urgent) - Icewind Dale had the best player character voice-overs out of all the IE games, I dare say. And as of now only 5 selection of voices for each gender is simply not enough! I really missed how if you click the characters enough times, it will voice its annoyance over the player's selection. "I know a druid who can hook you up with some good stuff" - Unknown male rogue
  12. The game can really use more different styles of godlike portraits to match the in-game avatars. Especially the moon godlikes.
