What a terrible test. I would laugh if I weren't so tired. HAHAHA! I'm laughing anyhow. The questions are absolutely horrid... and not by accident. The questions are intentionally geared for a left of center response. How about a test in which the first question is something like: "Do you believe that all material possessions should be taken from every individual in society and distributed evenly among the masses?" The very nature of the question colors the result. That's why questions should be as neutral as possible.

I loved Dungeon Siege and I am looking forward to Dungeon Siege 2. I find that the best way to really enjoy a game is to expect little or nothing out of it. I thought it would be terrible, but I found that I enjoyed it more than Diablo. Did I just imply I enjoyed Diablo?!?! Oh man, I'm gonna get flamed also. I liked Diablo 2 more, though. Dungeon Siege was better than Diablo 1 or 2.

I'm glad I found out I'm going to have to get some decent fighting skills under my belt for the last half of the game. I'm playing a Ventrue clan vampire right now, and I talk my way out of a lot of situations. I have, however, been willing to fight. In fact, if I think someone is evil, I gladly smite them.

That's why the Finnish president commands the greatest military force on the face of the planet.

Based on the advice of quite a few people, I bought Bloodlines. I'd like to thank my numbered friend, Vol, and all the other folks who suggested it. I am so suprised by it that I just had to make mention of it. I hate to say it, but it beats KotOR2 and any of the other CRPGs I've played over the past year. Hell, it actually beats KotOR 1. ...at least so far. Everyone says combat sucks, but I don't think it's that bad and, frankly, I've had virtually no combat anyhow. Now, as always, I might change my mind as I progress, but I have made some progress in Santa Monica and the things I enjoy about the game are unlikely to change. The voice acting is good, sometimes great, and the writing is better than KotOR 2. That really surprises me. Troika has finally created a game that deserves the praise fanboys have been heaping on them for years.

I have copied the transcript of the president's speech from MSNBC. This should clear up exactly what the president said.: Vice President Cheney, Mr. Chief Justice, President Carter, President Bush, President Clinton, members of the United States Congress, reverend clergy, distinguished guests, fellow citizens: On this day, prescribed by law and marked by ceremony, we celebrate the durable wisdom of our Constitution, and recall the deep commitments that unite our country. I am grateful for the honor of this hour, mindful of the consequential times in which we live, and determined to fulfill the oath that I have sworn and you have witnessed. At this second gathering, our duties are defined not by the words I use, but by the history we have seen together. For a half century, America defended our own freedom by standing watch on distant borders. After the shipwreck of communism came years of relative quiet, years of repose, years of sabbatical

It is funny that liberals rail against Limbaugh but conservatives use the same argument... it's just a joke. Frankly, I doubt it's a joke. ...Or, to put it another way, it's only a joke because it simply won't work. If it were feasible, then I have no doubt many of the folks on this board would pursue it. Some of the crazies undoubtedly do take it seriously. Personally, it looks like a great scheme to fleece a few nutjobs. On the other hand, I am surrounded by folks who truly hate George W. Bush. These folks, like the diehard Clinton haters before them, find no accusation too outrageous and know no shame. I watch Fox news myself. I watch Neil Cavuto and Brit Hume daily if I get the chance. That's the extent of my television of any sort. (well, except for what the wife wants to watch.) When it comes to written news, however, I read, almost exclusively, CNN, MSNBC, and the BBC. I find that they all pretty much say the same things, only with a different slant. Nevertheless, to get back to the joke idea... *shrug* It might be a joke, but it's said through gritted teeth and with a snarl.

I like them. The style is distinctive and the colors catch the eye.

One thing that I find reassuring, however, is that some of the more liberal folks are actually taking a stand against this odious device. The idea that the best way to address a point of view is to silence the speaker is simply wrong. It would be just as wrong for a conservative group to sell some sort of device to block a so-called "liberal" station. I don't doubt that could happen. Not at all. ...And, while he might not be quite so vehement about it, I've no doubt taks would have essentially the same stance in that case as he does now.

My understanding of the poll is that the expansions are included with the original game. So, BGII - ToB is actually BGII: SoA and ToB combined.

I don't much care for WC3. I finally bought it because a friend really wanted me to try it. I got through the human campaign, the undead campaign, and I'm struggling with the orc campaign. Why? Not because the computer is difficult. I'm sure I could make the game far more challenging if I engaged in online play. No, it's that the game just does nothing for me. I don't begrudge folks their fun, but WC3 certainly isn't going to convince me to buy SC2. I think Age of Mythology is much more entertaining and, last time I checked, the fun factor beats the balance factor every time.

Okay, what Arkan said.

Good God, my hopes are dashed by Sarge on the one hand but I get a chance to participate in SP's ol' stand-by argument on the other. It's good to know you're still alive SP. I thought I should answer based on the choice in the poll. Of everything, I am only certain of two... PS:T has everything beat in terms of setting and atmosphere. NWN is a disappointment and the setting is a bit raw.

I belong to many. I come to this one.

The BBC is just terrible. I don't mind bias, but the BBC has a major integrity problem right now. One example of many: the "sexed up" document affair. As I've often said on this board, if the truth isn't enough to convince people, then the lie shouldn't suffice. ...And I agree with taks whole-heartedly on this one. I would never dream of censoring the news. I find it ironic that my so called "liberal" friends would rather use censorship than concentrate on presenting different views. Fox is not your problem. The fact that so many people view the mainstream media with distrust is your problem. After all, Fox news doesn't get better rating just because their presentation is better. Some of their rating come from the fact that many Americans thought the existing channels were biased.

Of the limited selection, I choose IWD. Long after the fact for every game, I find that IWD is still my favorite of the crowd. I've played it more often than the rest and I enjoyed the game more than the rest. I loved them all, though, and the TotSC expansion, with Durlog's Tower, is a close second. I'm not counting expansion packs, though, and I think it's unfair to include them as a package with the original game. After all, you have to buy them separately. Anyhow, someone throw Sarge a raw steak and beat him with a stick. We need to get him back in his cage.

Thanks, Hades. I'll look into that. I always go through the company, but that doesn't work after the company is no more.

Any ideas on where I can find a patch for Heroes of Might and Magic 3 without the usual virus worries? Please, companions, help one whom you call friend.

I had a different take. I thought the writing was abysmal... and not only technically. It was just terrible to read. Still, the ideas behind the writing were on the spot. I think I would have loved it if MCA would have cleaned it up a tad. Of course, we don't know who actually did the writing. Still, the ideas were great. I saw a lot of potential to the design. That's why, flaws and all, I find a lot to enjoy in KoTOR2. I'll reserve my judgement, however, until I've finished the game. With all of the things in my life right now, that might be a while. All in all, I've finished everything I could find on four worlds and I don't think I've got much left to do on the fifth. Afterwards, the end-game probably won't be long in coming. Then I can write my own review. After all, it seems writing a review for KoTOR 2 is a mania.

Where do you believe the true majority lies?
Cantousent replied to Kalesar's topic in Computer and Console
The real question is what the publishers think will make the most money. I don't have a link on that one, but is there any doubt? If publishers think FPSes will make the most money, we're going to see more FPSes. The consumer can effect the market, I have no doubt, but the consumer is a fickle animal at best. I'm with mkreku on this one. I'm a true gamer and I figure most folks will consider themselves as such. ...At least the ones who come here. I like the idea behind the thread, but I think things like "combination" and "true gamer" are best left out of such polls because most folks will like variety on the one hand and well balanced game on the other. It makes options like "whole package" a little too tempting for folks to make a real stand. -
Don't make me pull out my +5 sword of doofus slaying, swineheart! I've been a PS:T fan since before you were born.
-
I'm almost done with the game. Overall, I really like it. There are folks who suggest that the ideas are better in KoTOR2 but that the overall package is rushed. I agree. Still, this is a fun game. I've enjoyed it.
-
You could only be so lucky, Sarge. If you get out of hand, I'll sic Volourn on you! Oh, and KoTOR. I didn't know what to expect, but I was quite happy with it.

I agree, Vol. I think the writing showed great natural talent, but it was bloated. It is one of my few complaints about the game. Nevertheless, it was, for me, the best CRPG I've ever played. More than the actual prose or style, the themes themselves resonated with me. I guess that's why I loved PS:T as much as I did. It's not that I see it as perfect in every way. Rather, I felt genuine emotion at virtually every step of the journey.
