  1. This looks really sweet. I could use a new RPG about now and I like idea behind this game. I'd read about it previously, and it's good to see that they're making headway. Much of the same crowd who creted Dialbo is behind this game, so I have my hopes. It looks to be on the hack and slash side, but that doesn't mean the game won't be great.
  2. Are the devs a bit more vocal on the NWN2 boards? This place really bit the dust when Bioware took over the boards for NWN2.
  3. Other than getting to sit down to watch a movie with your wife, you yutz?!?
  4. I never pirate games. Actually, I never pirate software at all, but it's hard to dredge up sympathy for Lucas when the movie has already broken several cinema records. In theory, I agree with Vol. In reality, though, I think this particular case makes for a weak argument. All we can cite are hypothetical arguments of profit loss for a movie that has done extremely well.
  5. ...same as every other edition of dirt-eatin', tree-huggin' puswas...they need to die...long an' excrutiatingly painful deaths... ...WHO LUVS YA, BABY!!... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Who will that happen? You should not urge others to do something far beyond your power, you pathetic, shag-haired miscreant.
  6. It had far greater impact the way it was done.
  7. I only take exception to one part of your statement: My mother, a divorcee, married my father when I was 8 years old. I got in plenty of scrapes as a result of the ugly areas where we lived, but not because I had a single mother nor because my dad adopted me when he married my mom. There comes a point where the loving family is worth the extra troubles in the schoolyard. There comes a point where the loving family is the source of strength to endure troubles in the schoolyard that are part of every child's experience. Homosexuality should be a factor in assessing claims for adoption, but I don't think it should be the whole length of the yardstick by which we measure prospective parents. Instead, it should be factored in the interest of the child. You're experiences and mine are different. My childhood was spent living in government subsidized housing, in the care of a mother reduced to using food stamps to buy groceries for her six children. When she married my father, I went to that "middle class" neighborhood. From what you're saying, it's almost as if you regret being adopted. I'm saddened to think that's the case.
  8. I thought it was a musical instrument.
  9. If you believe that the Soviet Union didn't suffer from it's attempt on Afghanistan, I'm truly surprised. By the way, take a look at some of the people tied to the conflict, including our friend, Osama.
  10. Actually, it was a bit of a compromise, but history claims the USSR backed down. Of course, I think that it's great that the USSR "backed-down." That's far better than the United States backing down. You fear terrorism? So do I. The best way to embolden terrorists is to "back down" to their demands. The Soviet Union was a sick empire. It required continued conquests in order to maintain itself. That, more than anything, led to its destruction. It labored under a deficient economic model. The people lacked even the freedom of expression. Now, we could say that Ronald Reagan helped usher the fall of the Soviet Union, and I would be quite glad to say and, moreover, proud. ...But don't be fooled into thinking that the Soviet Union was brought down by one man. It could never have happened without the willing, even gleeful, compliance of so many Soviet leaders. Terrorism would not be the scourge it is today without the Soviet Union? Perhaps you forget one of the reasons the Soviet Union fell apart: the ill advised attempt to annex Afghanistan. Hmm, the Soviet Union held back terrorists? How about creating the wonderful environment in which the Taliban could flourish.
  11. Creed Five for Fighting Sting
  12. Well, I just threw a few coppers George Lucas' way. I hope he appreciates them. On the non-piracy issue, the movie is definitely the best of the prequels. In fact, I rather liked it. Get rid of the ridiculous romance (poorly acted) and you've got one hell of a film! ...And I'll wait to purchase the DvD. No need for a pirated copy have I.
  13. It's difficult to claim that PS:T's graphics were superior to BG1's. That gets into an issue beyond resolution or processing into a shady area of taste. Technically speaking, PS:T might have sported better graphics, especially in spell effects, but the feel of the graphics is precisely the thing that alienated some of the players. For my part, PS:T is the best game in the world. It's certainly my favorite. I, like you, have been playing these games from the days Pong. ...But the question regarding graphics can't be answered along strictly technological lines. I never look at a game and say, "the graphics are great." I often look at a game and say, "that looks beautiful." Whatever the technology, it's not a technical decision. It's a matter of taste. In that regard, great graphics well used have a definite edge. It is clearly silly to argue from the standpoint of irrelevance. Nevertheless, superior graphics do not always translate to something aesthetically pleasing.
  14. It is imperative that a child know who his biological parents are, even if the parent in question is a physically abusive alcoholic who beats the mother and children daily. Still, I don't think that the accident of conception should make one man more worthy than another. It's the actions that make for a good man and father, not the blood.
  15. Planes, Trains, and Automobiles *nods*
  16. Record breaking sales... lines of hell-spawned Star Wars freaks... fanatics ready to rend would-be pirates limb from limb... Lucas should hope for even more of these terrible looking pirated copies to hit the internet. The only pirated copy of any movie I've ever seen was Fellowship of the Ring. I was in line at the hobby shop picking up the latest copy of some DnD must-have or another. Anyhow, the geeklings in the back of the shop were watching it. Alls I can say is, It's not replacing the theater anytime soon. I'm not even a cinema hard-core, but I'm sure as hell not going to waste my precious time for something I can spend less than $10 to see some afternoon. ...Or buy on DvD for not much more.
  17. ewww Anyhow, I have a friend who went to E3 and he took pictures with his camera of the screens for xbox 360 and ps3. My judgment is... don't invest in a camera phone, the picture quality sucks. He said he liked what he saw of the new xbox and so I have high hopes. I don't know. I suspect that it won't matter which one I get. I'll probably be satisfied with either one as long as it has a few games and I can use it as a console/stereo.
  18. Metadigital, you yutz, I was already confused before I read your post! ...And you have confused Di now, as I can see, and so we're all confused. I was getting ready to write a long Iraq war post, but I'm simply going to go take two asperin and get in bed. You've confounded me! :D
  19. Yeah, I personally was quite a bit confused by the last page. Must be my reading skills. Anyhow, my post was actually directed at you, Di. However, in reading your post and our numbered friend's post, I see that I got some of the wording mixed up between the two. Oh well, my post still conveys my thoughts, but they aren't necessarily pointed at Di. I'm not really sure of your stance concerning abortion, Di. You write: "No matter what one's personal views on the matter happen to be, please have some respect for women, and do not deliberately distort and dismiss the reproductive process simply to bolster your own personal beliefs." Inasmuchas abortion is less physically damaging than child-birth, then I will agree with your statement. ...But are abortions an "easier" decision? I don't believe most women want an abortion. ...Or at least I've only heard one woman say that she was glad to have an abortion and she immediately burst into tears thereafter. (I found that quite suspicious) I've known some women whom I've known truly felt they had no choice. In one particular case, I was just happy I didn't have to make the decision myself. It's an ugly decision to be forced to make. I'm dead set against casual abortions. If that makes me judgemental, then I'll bear the charge gladly.
  20. Actually, I added your comment without further word simply because I didn't think I could improve it.
  21. ...And, as much as I hate to clarify something I wrote earlier, I'm not in the habit of condemning women even if I think the unwanted pregnancy is a result of a
  22. I voted for xbox360. I'm surprised to see that it's winning the poll, although that really doesn't mean anything I suppose. There is a good possibility I'll get both if they both look pleasing. I'd rather have a larger hardrive on the xbox 360, though. A 20GB HD is too small considering that I'll put every CD I own on the new system and use it as my stereo. Alls I can say is that the xbox 360 needs to have some way to get those music files from my current xbox or I probably won't buy it this year anyhow. It's a pain putting in all those CDs.
  23. The Iraq war is clearly a moral question. It's a matter of what is necessary, what is right, and what is politically expedient. I have my own views of the Iraq war, but I'll keep those to myself for the time being. Sometimes it's good to sit back and see what other folks have to say.
  24. I served in the USN because I love my country even with its faults. I'm deeply offended that someone told a jarhead that he was perfect for the Army. Army pukes! ...But, Marine service and love of country notwithstanding, you're still wrong. :D
  25. Of course the lottery should be taxed. It's income. For the record, I thought lottery monies were taxed. The reason the government gives a tax break for purchasing certain items, such as a house, is simple... it's good for the economy for folks to make these purchases. We are in a war. Does that mean we should have a draft? Does that mean we should ration sugar, gasoline, or other such vital materials? The death/estate/"walthy punishment" tax is both bad policy and wrong.
