it appears that what you is getting with the prestige classes is simply a limited late game opportunity to multi-class. you start out consular and want to multi to a more combat focused class? well, then you takes either the lightside combat focused prestige class, or you takes the darkside focused prestige class... will pretty much be like simply allowing you to multi to guardian. no doubt there will be some little special power or two that comes with the kotor 2 prestige classes, but the obsidians IS being rather economical, ain't they? they is, for the most part, giving you even less than you got in kotor. at least in that game you had 6 distinct classes. in this game you is gonna be getting 3... but they add nifty labels and you thinks you got 9? *shrug* not particularly bother Gromnir that there is simply 3 classes

"The point is that American Indians bring down the stats for the country in terms of living conditions. " depends on how tabulated. many native american tribes exist that is simply not recognized by the u.s. government. oh sure, you may be native american, and you may be able to prove that you is native american, but unless you happen to be one of the tribes that the fed has recognized, then you is only native american in your own mind. on the other hand, recognized tribes get the "domestic dependent nation" status... a fiction which were originally created by the supreme court so that they could screw the cherokee. nevertheless, it is a fiction that has been used on occasion to point out that recognized and treaty tribes is separate nations to some degree. often this fiction is used to essentially ignore native americans from various tabulations done by fed... 'cause those folks is separate nations after all. keep in mind that based on way the u.s. tabulates median household income, native americans, from 2000 census, has a higher average income (just 'bout $32,000) than does african americans and pretty much the same as hispanics. notice how one might get the wrong impression from such a finding considering deg's posting that "Indians remain remarkably impoverished. According to the Bureau of the Census, 25.9 percent of American Indians live in poverty, more than twice the national poverty rate. The average household income for Indians in 2000 was only 75 percent of that of the rest of Americans." numbers is funny things. the median household income at pine ridge is $2,500. 69% of families is below poverty. most folks at pine ridge not have any kinda basic health care, and those that do may live too far away to make use of it anyway. is one of those things that not get tabulated... give a person health care w/o any way to access it is kinda pointless, no? oh, and one more thing of note we feel compelled to mention... the supreme court has ruled that the Black Hills were part of an illegal taking by the u.s. the Oglala (those folks with the $2,500 per year incomes,) as a matter of principle, refused to accept the tens of millions of dollars that is part of settlement. *shrug* HA! Good Fun!

sure they do taks. percentages can be very misleading when you is dealing with haves v. have nots. is always gonna be easier to fail than to succeed, and Gromnir would much rather see ceiling raised for 2 or 3 percent than for the basement to be raised for 10 to 15%.... if only 'cause we ain't in the bottom percentages... and regardless of fact that we started off in bottom 2%. sure, the level o' illiteracy is disturbing... but truth is that u.s. also gots an incredibly high rate o' folks with post graduate degrees. does folks with post graduate degrees make the illiterates disappear in the percentages? nope. our only concern is that kids o' the have nots is royally screwed in our system. gotta work twice as hard and is twice as tough. folks that wanna simply do away with welfare rarely take into consideration that the majority of folks benefiting from welfare is children. HA! Good Fun!

Nordic babes? Reindeer? Gromnir lived in Santa Barbara for a number o' years, so we knows what it is like to live someplace with lots o' beautiful women. nevertheless, in spite of fact that we ain't a fan o' blondes, we were very impressed with the women of iceland. was also much impressed with the women o

is impossible for us to describe our ideal npc, 'cause the most important aspect we want is surprise... we want bis to surprise Gromnir. bis should create npcs that maybe at first glance we think is crap or unsuitable... then make us thank you for including 'em. if we is playing a good/lightside character, make us want to bring the dark jedi. if we hate droids, make us wanna have a party full of 'em. if we thinks non-jedi suck, try to make a non-jedi that becomes our favorite joinable npc evar. give folks what they want is easy and ultimately leads to a good game at best. you wanna make a great game? then you gotta give folks what they didn't know they wanted. HA! Good Fun!

http://www.mobygames.com/browse/games/k,2/j,771/?o=100a101 some good. some bad. absent from list are the following: Torn BG3 FO3 it is sad that black isle will be remembered by many crpg fans for the games it cancelled as much as for the games it developed. most of the obsidian developers was once employees of black isle. some good. some bad. HA! Good Fun!

we made up name... wanted something that sounded "barbaric." can decide for self whether we succeeded. by the time most o' you read this, we probably will have changed avatars. currently, we use the fourth rune in the first aett of the elder futhark: ansuz. HA! Good Fun!

we still play 2 times a month with some guys who live in the bay area and sacramento valley. only bad thing is that Gromnir likes to play games and yet we always get stuck being the dm. HA! Good Fun! p.s. oh, and we hate d&d, but these guys is d&d players for the most part. ack.

don't play dumb. everybody knows that krazy is a fergie alt account. ... on a more serious note, it would be nice to see a way to conveniently track developer posts. these boards, if you had not noticed, is kinda dead, and maybe folks would be more interested if they could find posts done by folks not darq, vol or krazy. *shrug*

am not saying that ps:t did romance well. ffg and annah romance stuff did not impress Gromnir. ravel were an exception. HA! Good Fun!
-
repost: the best romance we can recalls from a crpg never even gets mention. ravel loved the nameless one. most other crpg romances is just seem likes kinda silly adolescent pre-teen stuff, but folks like'em. ... obviously Gromnir is not the target audience for romances so far. HA! Good Fun! end repost HA! Good Fun!

Getting away from the Dark Thug concept of evil...
Gromnir replied to Dereth's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
it does seem that the folks that play evil most often simply want to lord it over those who has less power than them... and considering the traditional game design concept that you should be able to beat any opponent you meet, that is essentially everybody. 'course, there haven't been many options for evil. is tough to say that folks wouldn't like more subtle forms o' evil if all we got is almost random encounters where you gets the opportunity to knock some old lady down and take her purse, or after you has done the saved-the-day thing, you hand folks a bill and then threaten to start eating babies if you ain't paid forthwith. Gromnir not play evil, but even we admit that these is kinda lame. however, we might be interested to see what a developer could do with our diabolical plan notion... would have to be largely tangential or supplemental to main plot, and if you want to be compelling, the person making the diabolical plan would largely be unaware as to how plan would turn out til late in game... which is kinda odd, but amn thinking that it is a notion worth considering... if only to give another option. look how popular the romances was... a story w/i a story. the diabolical plan would give evil characters their own special romance option as it were. would also give an option for characters to be evil in a slightly different, if more controlled manner. this was just an off the cuff notion... no doubt folks have better ideas, and we would like to hear 'em... is just that folks usually complain 'bout the present evil options w/o considering how a developer might do different. people is all for better schools until you tell 'em that somebody is gonna have to pay for better schools. so, come up with ideas on how to pay for the idea o' better evil. HA! Good Fun! -
Getting away from the Dark Thug concept of evil...
Gromnir replied to Dereth's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
sneaky evil is tough to write when you is doing with insular and discreet dialogue encounters. a sneaky fellow probably gots a brilliant plan that only becomes obvious late in story. you thought he was helping you and it turns out that all along he was setting you up to take the fall... that kinda thing. how you gonna write that? you can write the plan kinda thing in a book or movie script, but in a game where the player chooses dialogue options... how you get the player to follow the script w/o taking control from him? am guessing that you could insert a Diabolical Plan series o' dialogues into the game... put -

Everyone who signed up post-Sith Lords...
Gromnir replied to Lord Tingeling's topic in Way Off-Topic
which is why your opinion is actually the least important. obsidian knows that you is already sold. the folks who joins very late and probably never post is the folks that these boards is really existing for... is cheap advertising. HA! Good Fun! -
nonsense... no need to be jealous. if Di wants to go, and is discouraged by plane fare/air travel/whatever, Gromnir and Di could do a road trip next year. HA! Good Fun! p.s. eldar should have thought ahead and made hard copies of Gromnir posts... just in case.

gosh spitz, when do you find time to WORK on games? no doubt 'bout it... you is in the right industry. HA! Good Fun!

Alien Races You Would Like To See In KOTOR2
Gromnir replied to Dead Skin Mask's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
klingons. what? HA! Good Fun! -
"As long as Jedis and Force Users are the focus, its not going to happen." the problem is economics. sounds strange? it shouldn't. developers does a major quest... do maps, and critters and scripts and all kinds of stuff. takes lots of time, and resources and money to build that quest or section o' game. now, from developer's perspective, does it make sense that only a certain player build should be able to access or complete the quest? you has just done stuff that 'mounts to an hour or two of gameplay, and you is gonna make unavailable to 90% of players? game is gonna play same for every character, and is gonna throw you some occasional treats for taking extra points in a specific skill. you got computer skills? great, you can access a computer that tells you 'bout some secret room that gots a bunch o' stolen credits and a weapon or two in it... or maybe a computer file leads you to find some kidnapped child that you save... get exp points and light or dark points depending on if you rescue child or sell her to slavers. maybe a half dozen times in game you gets such computer skill treats. wow. hope you ain't expecting anything more substantial from your computer skills... 'cause it not economical to do more. is probably too much to hope for that the developers would actually make game play noticeably different for different folks

heck, Gromnir recalls when sargy was a plain speaking poster (no garbled writing style,) who was hopeful that "Mr. Gaider," might just, maybe, perhaps, put some of sargy's suggestions into the ascension mod. HA! is 'mazing how a couple o' years can twist a person so that now he not even sure whether he is pretending to be Gromnir or krazy or someone else... just parrots his betters. truth ain't really a factor for him... after all, somebody will eventually tell him what to say and how to be saying it... and then he will suddenly 'members that version o' things. HA! Good Fun!

what are you doing with your free time?
Gromnir replied to Gromnir's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
am rarely frenzied... anybody not wanna know whether kotor2 will have more content than kotor? anybody not wanna know whether obsidians is willing to release a product that is little more than kotor + epic levels and some prestige classes? anybody here not want to hear from obsidians what their views on the issue is? HA! Good Fun! -
what are you doing with your free time?
Gromnir replied to Gromnir's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
drak says silly things. has never been in doubt that some games announced as sequels has turned out to be products with very little new material.. seem to be just trying to take advantage of guaranteed sales from fans of original game. other sequels has offered much in the way of new material and new content. so the real question is, what kinda sequel is kotor2 gonna be? is it gonna be a glorified expansion, or is it gonna be an honest to goodness sequel. observing that jedi academy started out as an expansion means what in the present context? HA! Good Fun! -
what are you doing with your free time?
Gromnir replied to Gromnir's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
same stuff done for hotu... an expansion. this is a sequel, not an expansion. obsidian ain't building a new engine, and they is adding epic and prestige classes with help from bio who has already gone through growing pains of doing such things in sou and hotu... should be far less effort for obsidian. story aspects was strongest attribute of kotor, and we expect obsidian to at least put in similar effort. so, with everything else being equal, should fans not be getting more detailed worlds with more content? HA! Good Fun! -
what are you doing with your free time?
Gromnir replied to Gromnir's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
see, that is the point... if they ain't doing engine improvements or adding lots of features then you is expecting MORE from story and content... just as is Gromnir. HA! Good Fun!
