New Scientific Discoveries, Part Vier
Hey, thanks for sharing this! Very interesting. For me, it isn't just the people who lied or obfuscated or covered up who need to be held accountable, but also the people who laughed. All people within the academy who scoffed and laughed will have lost all credibility and should be dismissed from their jobs. Far too often, in the West, academics are utterly wrong about things they've said/claimed, and yet they're never held to account. The academy has come full-circle and is now much like the Church from five centuries ago.

Is Brandon Adler's team developing PoE3?
kanisatha replied to juanval's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)But then that would mean PoE3 is not even in pre-production at this time because Adler is directing TOW2 and surely is not the lead on two projects.

New Scientific Discoveries, Part Vier
Yeah, different century same story from the government. But at least now, not many people believe what the government has to say.

Black Geyser is finally up on Steam. Hope several of you will wishlist it to boost attention to it. It is going into EA. Expand the EA section on the store page and read it. There are great details there about what the devs intend for the game before final release in Q1 2022. https://store.steampowered.com/app/1374930/Black_Geyser_Couriers_of_Darkness/

Military Thread: Humanity Hanging from a Cross of Iron
FYI, USS Ford is our newest carrier and first in her class, so she's been having some teething problems. She's not yet declared fully operational and is yet to undertake her first cruise. Makes good sense though to use her for these tests, as she still needs a lot of drydock work anyway.

Baldur's Gate 3 - the 2nd thread
To be clear, they haven't explicitly said release in 2022. What they have said is that they initially envisioned EA to last a year, but now, due to both the pandemic and learning from the EA that they have a lot more work to do on the game than they previously assumed, EA will have to be extended to perhaps a year and a half to two years. So, extrapolating from this, ....

Surprise! The Outer Worlds 2 announced at E3 2021
I think the Han Solo reference was to flying a spaceship, and the Skyrim reference to a large open-world game that allows you to "go anywhere." Howard has also said the game will portray spaceflight and space exploration in as realistic a way as possible, meaning that spaceflight is very difficult business and remains very dangerous even after one has been doing it successfully for some time. And for this, they're actually engaging in some consulting with both NASA and SpaceX for insights to use in the game. It is also set in that perfect sweet spot technologically-speaking: about 200 years from now when we're technologically advanced enough to have thoroughly explored, and even settled, our solar system, but technological infants with respect to deep space travel beyond our star system.

TOW1's intro cinematic says that Halcyon is "the only colony on the edge of the frontier owned and operated by corporations"
On one level yes, liberal or leftist corporations. But also socialist in that they are always out for subsidies, handouts, bailouts, and special protections including especially protectionism from competition.

Baldur's Gate 3 - the 2nd thread
I think they've pretty much confirmed the full release won't be until well into 2022.

Yeah, Obsidian (and others) need to learn that corporations and capitalism are not the same thing. Plenty of socialist mega-corporations in the West these days.

Surprise! The Outer Worlds 2 announced at E3 2021
What I meant is that I love the premise of the game, meaning the context of the story of the game. If I could pick any life for myself I wanted, it would be being part of humanity's early days stepping out of the solar system. Nothing that humanity has achieved before would even come close in awesomeness (for me personally) to our first steps beyond our star system.

So who is working on this game?
Is the project codename known?

So who is working on this game?
I have the same question.

Surprise! The Outer Worlds 2 announced at E3 2021
Since Obsidian themselves said they couldn't include a third-person option in TOW1 only because their budget wouldn't allow it, I really hope we will get that option in TOW2. It's the main reason I have not played TOW1.

Surprise! The Outer Worlds 2 announced at E3 2021
One of the articles about the announcement said Obsidian has said the game is set in a new star system.

Sorry, disagree. I loved the TOW2 trailer for its comedic value, but Starfield looks like a fantastic game from its trailer.

Pillars of Eternity 3
kanisatha replied to Perundor's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)I've said this myself, but for me the conclusion is that I am so very glad Obsidian went with a brand new system because the existing D20 D&D-based systems just plain suck. Kudos to Obsidian for creating a new system from scratch. Yes the DO:S system represents simplicity, but strongly disagree that it somehow also provides gameplay depth. I find the D:OS system to be mind-numbingly shallow, superficial, and often just plain silly. It is precisely its shallow simplicity that makes it popular with so many of today's gamers who can't handle or don't want to be bothered with anything complex or sophisticated.

But while I have you here, @Flouride, or @Ethics Gradient, what's the state codename for The Outer Worlds 2?

This was clarified later on as the two airframes are in production but not yet complete.

That they left doesn't automatically mean they quit. People make choices based on their life needs, and especially nowadays with the aftermath of the pandemic, there are many possible reasons for someone making a change in their life. Also, according some leaked info on Avowed, the game's development is coming along very well and is far further in development than generally assumed/known.

E3 Speculation
Honestly, some talent refreshing may be a very good thing for Obsidian, much as I've also said about Bioware. So long as the very top people, at the level of project director and above, stick around, we're good.
