  1. Either way, MOBA audience is kinda bad idea I mean, MOBAs aren't really rpgs, they are rts where you play as single powerful characters and can equip items and gain better skills over the course of match. And they aren't "just" competitive either, they are team based. They are heavily based on teamwork which results in really toxic environment where people have really short tempers because they can tell whether game is lost right from the start if one member of team is really bad when compared to opposite team I haven't really ever heard of anyone who plays MOBAs singleplayer and they definitely aren't the majority. Besides, MOBA players aren't looking for story either... It would be better idea to attempt to capture people interested in story and choices in general instead of targeting fans of single genre or fans of single developer
  2. ...Yeaaaaaaaaah, thats not gonna happen. Bioware's rpgs are heavily streamlined and lots of Bioware's vocal fanbase seem to have obsession with romance for some reason. Personally I feel like they should just keep targeting the core audience. The games that target "mainstream" audience outside of their core audience tend to do really badly. Either at expense of game or at expense of credibility. Anyway, isn't Paradox in charge of marketing anyway? And in case of MOBAs' "20-60 million" thats bit wide margin since you are talking about whole genre of games. And, for example, its not like all LOL players play DOTA. So how you would attempt to target that large amount of people on basis they play at least one game in huge genre?
  3. So two wilderness areas, one village, two dungeons... Sounds nice amount even for a "demo length"
  4. Yeah, but you aren't awarded for killing the ogre, you are awarded for completing the quest. You could have completed the quest without killing ogre. Killing any other ogre in the game wouldn't give exp. And honestly, I prefer idea of not getting exp for killing enemies. I'm kinda sick of killing everything on the map just so that I don't have to worry about being underleveled. Besides, lots of time I'd rather not kill random wolves in forest just so I can get exp, it feels wasteful.
  5. What, you don't find exploring and finding items to be fun? And like the other guy said, you don't even NEED to kill the ogre to get the exp. So I guess that makes combat pointless for you? *shrugs* And I would have thought that people played these games because they like fighting, talking, exploring, looting, etc and not just exp rewards for doing those things. And if you do think those things are fun, then why would they require exp reward?
  6. Because killing ogre is goal of quest and quest wasn't about killing beetles. After all, you don't HAVE to kill the beetles to kill the ogre. Besides, you'd probably have gotten same amount of exp if instead of killing ogre you had told him to go away. Goal is to just get rid of Ogre in some way so they won't bother the village.
  7. Wasn't Adam playing on easy setting anyway? I mean, haven't they stated that they have different enemy placements of different difficulties?
  8. Well, you ARE basically arguing that the game should give out exp for killing beetles because every other rpg gives exp for killing individual enemies. The thing about "Wouldn't combat with beetles give you "experience" in fighting beetles" thing is... Well, you DO actually get "experience" in fighting beetles considering you get bestiary entry. Anyway, point was that exp systems in any games are rather abstract. Like, for some reason killing thousand rats gives you level up while at same time killing one dragon gives you level up. Its an abstract game system, you can't really claim that it makes sense that after you kill multiple or just one creature, you suddenly get physically and mentally stronger and gain suddenly new abilities. So I don't get it why you are arguing it makes more sense to get exp from killing enemies when exp doesn't really make sense in first place.
  9. I want to focus on this, because it's false. Running away from encounters specifically designed to challenge your party and (according to you) also designed to justify the "over all objective XP" that you're gonna get later as a reward) is every bit the degenerate behavior that Kill Grinding is. You are literally doing what the developers did not mean for you to do. And this is why I asked you how you know that areas will be inaccessible until you deal with those beetles. Because if, for example, the Ogre den IS closed off to you until those beetles are slain, or scared off, or stealthed-past, then that's totally fine. But if not, then we've got a design problem: you were able to bypass the beetle threat without employing ANY skill whatsoever, and therefore, your objective XP rewards should be lessened as a result. I doubt they will be, though, because the OGRE is the objective, not the beetles. This is why Numenera P&P doesn't give you exp for killing creatures Because the game designers know that if you are rewarded exp for killing them, player feels that most optimal solution is killing them instead of role playing it in any other way. In Numenera its perfectly valid solution to run away, negotiate or deal with creature any way possible that may or may not involve killing.
  10. "The term arbalest is sometimes used interchangeably with crossbow. "Arbalest" is a Medieval French corruption from the Roman name arcuballista, which was then used for crossbows, although originally used for types of artillery; Modern French uses the word arbalète, which is linguistically one step further from the stem (disappearance of the s phoneme in the last syllable before t). The word applies to both crossbow and arbalest (the latter may be referred to as a heavy crossbow, but an actual heavy crossbow may not be the same as an arbalest). In some cases, the word has been used to refer to the people who actually used the weapon." I think wikipedia just said that it doesn't really matter which word you use
  11. Yup to both I'm going to assume that people who didn't read what the beta actually has and still bought it are going to be complaining on Steam forums. Oh joy. I admit that its probably not best 25 dollars I have used, probably should have waited until I at least knew what the beta was before I purchased beta key, but I don't mind it that much.
  12. Yeaaah, I understand where you are coming from, but I'm personally happy with the way they are doing it. I mean, I got Wasteland 2 beta when access was given to all backers and I have played it enough to know how I'm going to "efficiently" make my story choices in actual release <_< And metagame attribute and skill points. So being able to play small area with all different character creation choices without real party members(they all seem to be named Backer Beta (Class)) is pretty cool to me. No spoilers, but still the gameplay! I'm still assuming that game is going to be obsidian buggy though, with some quests being impossible to finish and that causes me to cry at release since I'm obsessed with completing all quests. I mean, if Wasteland 2 is this close to release and STILL has major bugs that prevent quests being completed... Yeah And cool, you can guess who I am over there if you notice my "obscure" theme naming in usernames
  13. Err, it does. Just because some other game's beta testing means testing of whole game doesn't mean same applies to other. Heck, alpha testing of some games vary greatly <_< Technically Minecraft was alpha when people started to buy it in masses and it already felt like complete building game. There was no real difference between "released game that has frequent updates" and "unfinished game to which we are adding features" when it came to that. Sooo yea- Wait a minute, are you on Wasteland 2 forum with exact same username? Huh Wasteland 2 got at start of the month update that was supposed to be pretty much final update to Arizona <_< IIn final major area of Arizona, it had bug where you couldn't leave the map if you had certain NPC you need for a quest in your party if you tried to leave map with him after completing the area. Which is really bad thing since if you leave the map before beating the main quest in area, everyone there dies Also, one of recruitable CNPCs seems to be bugged since she seems to be really random whether you get her or not. There are quite a lots of bugs in that release, some are quite major and some are minor but annoying. Some are just baffling. "Wait, how the heck did EVERY beta tester miss this? It is a text mistake in FIRST CONVERSATION OF WHOLE GAME"
  14. You just needed injury kits to get rid of injuries
  15. But can the PC be maimed before they "die" like companions? Doesn't the system work like, if stamina is reduced to 0, character gets maimed, but if health reaches 0 they die?
  16. Well, considering that resurrecting people from death is impossible in this game... It wouldn't really make sense for game not to end if PC dies
  17. I'm afraid that the Brigandine has the same issue as the plate, it certainly looks like it on the orlan female character. BTW I see they fixed the bug with Constant Recovery. Nice to see some weapons having a proper combat stance, although I'm waiting for the low guard / shield held to the side to be fixed up and more combat fidgets/higher fidget rate to be added in eventually. Dang it, you replied to my post before I edited it to make sense D: I realized I was explaining myself really badly so I deleted most of it and said it in shorter way that makes more sense
  18. Of course, boobs are what the life is about Seriously though, I'm pretty sure this game isn't first game to have bestiary, even of the "evolving" variety, but it is awesome feature.
  19. In the chain mail armor, the female model used looks like it's been modeled wearing a "push up bra", they would be hanging way lower on the chest normally. To flatten those for the plate armor, you'd have to press them down lower into the armor - there is no room, because the plate hugs the figure tightly and is thinner. Thats the thing I'm being actually confused about and which is why I'm hesitant to post the sport bra education video I mean, I know that large breasts can be made to look "flat" and average sized breasts can be made to look "large" but... Those breasts are huge and shaped like that even with chainmail on. Chainmail should definitely(unless I'm horribly wrong about weight of chainmail) flatten them somewhat, but it doesn't on the model so... The fact that they don't mean that either those breasts don't follow laws of physics or they would be impossible to flatten even with sport bra which does beg the question of how they fit the plate mail.
  20. Umm... Well, I don't know about unrealistically large breasts that are as huge as footballs, but I'm willing to give it benefit of the doubt even though they are unrealistically large Don't please force me to find video on sport bras <_< Please, just trust me on that boobs are malleable. They are made out of fat after all
  21. Anyway, just in case someone in future comes after this discussion is over and wants to say "How those big ass boobs fit inside that platemail, that makes no sense" I'd like request them to watch videos on how sport bras work before they make that comment <_< Seriously
  22. The male model is rotated slightly, so the front curve is more visible. The female model has a distinctly pinched waist, making it look more feminine. It doesn't look like you're really driving your point home; more to the contrary. Dang, I said exact same thing, but you said it better <_< Dang my limited vocabulary!
