Politics 20/20 now with extra hindsight!
I'll save you the hard work of googling the numbers... (and no, nothing so stupid as harsh words or derogatory words, just plain old murders of people in all age groups and the murder of cops too) (not going to link to business insider as that is behind a paywall, but according to their numbers, since 1994 329 people have been murdered by far right groups in the US and 0 people by far left groups, but, if someone has a subscription, would love to know the accompanying text from the article) From the horses own mouth so to speak, an itemized list from the last few years (as it says, includes, which means it doesn't include all murders): https://www.congress.gov/116/bills/s894/BILLS-116s894is.xml "Fatal terrorist attacks by far-right-wing extremists include— (A) the August 5, 2012, mass shooting at a Sikh gurdwara in Oak Creek, Wisconsin, in which a White supremacist shot and killed 6 members of the gurdwara; (B) the April 13, 2014, mass shooting at a Jewish community center and a Jewish assisted living facility in Overland Park, Kansas, in which a neo-Nazi shot and killed 3 civilians, including a 14-year-old teenager; (C) the June 8, 2014, ambush in Las Vegas, Nevada, in which 2 supporters of the far-right-wing “patriot” movement shot and killed 2 police officers and a civilian; (D) the June 17, 2015, mass shooting at the Emanuel AME Church in Charleston, South Carolina, in which a White supremacist shot and killed 9 members of the church; (E) the November 27, 2015, mass shooting at a Planned Parenthood clinic in Colorado Springs, Colorado, in which an anti-abortion extremist shot and killed a police officer and 2 civilians; (F) the March 20, 2017, murder of an African-American man in New York City, allegedly committed by a White supremacist who reportedly traveled to New York “for the purpose of killing black men”; (G) the May 26, 2017, attack in Portland, Oregon, in which a White supremacist allegedly murdered 2 men and injured a third after the men defended 2 young women whom the individual had targeted with anti-Muslim hate speech; (H) the August 12, 2017, attack in Charlottesville, Virginia, in which a White supremacist killed one and injured nineteen after driving his car through a crowd of individuals protesting a neo-Nazi rally, and of which former Attorney General Jeff Sessions said, “It does meet the definition of domestic terrorism in our statute.”; (I) the July 2018 murder of an African-American woman from Kansas City, Missouri, allegedly committed by a White supremacist who reportedly bragged about being a member of the Ku Klux Klan; (J) the October 24, 2018, shooting in Jeffersontown, Kentucky, in which a White man allegedly murdered 2 African Americans at a grocery store after first attempting to enter a church with a predominantly African-American congregation during a service; and (K) the October 27, 2018, mass shooting at the Tree of Life Synagogue in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, in which a White nationalist allegedly shot and killed 11 members of the congregation." Edit: So no, not really and beheadings. It seems to be a trademark of ISIS and the thugs in the Mexican drug cartels who thought it was a splendid practice to copy. Nationalists seems to lower the average human IQ.

The TV and Streaming thread Series 3
Doing something I haven't done in many years... watching 3 entire seasons on streaming tv (SBS on Demand). It's called Dark Matter. Only finished season 1 as of now. Absolutely love it. Also saw that SyFy cancelled it before doing the last 2 seasons (the overall story arch was written for 5 seasons before shooting began). It was probably too good for them, can't have shows that raises expectations or something, so better screw it up for the viewers halfway through.

Not quite, but close. It's actually an American thing (sold at fairs in the late 1800's and early 1900's), but supposedly invented by people from Hamburg. No hard evidence seems to exist on it's origin, only competing tales. See also Frankfurter, Wiener (German for Vienna), Sandwich (made popular centuries ago by the Earl of Sandwich) ... (funny trivia, a US court ruling decided that tacos and burritos are not a sandwich)

Politics 20/20 now with extra hindsight!
The people of the Indus-Valley civilization may have a different opinion 🤔 Since the Aryans moved through there (not particularly peacefully) and settled in what is modern day Iran (the Iranians being the descendants of the ancient Aryans) Edit: I've been told Iranians gets annoyed when ignorant people call them "Arabs" (which they aren't). Is this still a thing or are people better educated today than they were 30 years ago???

I've ranted before about the rampant corruption of the right wing government in Australia, but this sort of puts a few figures on it... $1.000.000 Australian dollars is the price for buying a bishop out of his pedophile sentence (so he could jump ship and run away to the Vatican) Today the Australian Federal Police (AFP) confirmed it had received "information" from the federal financial crimes regulator AUSTRAC regarding the allegations. "This is part of a routine exchange of financial intelligence between AUSTRAC and the AFP," the agency said. The AFP said it was reviewing the information, and had also referred "aspects" of the matter to Victoria's Independent Broad-based Anti-corruption Commission (IBAC). https://www.abc.net.au/news/2020-10-21/afp-refers-vatican-george-pell-trial-payment-allegations-to-ibac/12799638

What you've done today - One Life to Live
@Azdeustake my word for it... all it takes is a little injury to a toe 😂 Hope you'll be alright mate 👍 I was sitting here looking at some of the stuff I had unpacked over the weekend. Including a very obsolete desktop PC. I tossed out the innards as it was state of the art 6-7 years ago, but the casing and psu are still good (A Lian-Li PC-D800 and a 1200w psu). Since I can fit about 20 hdd's into the giant case I was toying with the idea of just buying the cheapest mb, cpu and ram I can get and fill it up with bulk drives for some local storage. Got a bunch of pci cards with several sata2 controllers, so can probably put in at least a dozen drives or more 🤔

POST YOUR SPECS
Cut and pasted from old thread... only real change is the Gfx card, because I'm a cheapskate. Originally it was just the onboard intel "gfx", then a ti-1050 with (4gb) Casing Corsair Carbide Quiet 600Q Inverse ATX Full Tower Case PSU Dark Power Pro 11 1000W Power Supply Motherboard Asus ROG Strix Z370-F Gaming LGA 1151 ATX Motherboard CPU/CPU Cooler Intel Core i7 8700K Six Core LGA 1151 3.7 GHz Dark Rock Pro 3 RAM Corsair 64GB (4 x 16GB) CMK32GX4M2B3000C15 DDR4 3000MHz Vengeance LPX HDD (boot) Intel 760p Series M.2 NVMe SSD 512GB HDD (other) (x2 for 12TB total) Western Digital Black WD6002FZWX 6TB Optical Drive (does dvd, blu-ray and m-disc writing) LG BH16NS55 GFX Asus ROG-STRIX-RTX2070S (8gb) I like how relatively low noise the gfx card is even when under duress. And if I feel like getting it more quiet, the accompanying Asus software allows me to use "silent" mode where it sacrifices speed for low temperatures (and less fan activity)

So many supermarkets can't be wrong, frozen pizza is good for you! 😇 I've been eating enough antibiotics lately to keep an entire meadow full of dairy cows healthy 😖 Another 5 days says the doctor. Ah well. Nom nom nom... 💊 At least the ugly red and purple stripes leading from my foot up to my hip has receded, barely visible anymore

The Best Musical or Comedy Drama Action Film thread (THIS IS THE GENERAL MOVIE STUFF THREAD)
Yeah, I mentioned that one a while ago. Funny trivia, for added realism (or lack of blanks), the director insisted on all scenes using live ammo for shooting, artillery and explosions in the movie. So when you see grenades impacting or bullets doing a bit of deforestation, it's all real. That should teach those actors to keep their heads down 😝

Politics 20/20
I think Cuba got a rotten deal, because they never were off to to a good start. Not sure how you would remove a general from power other than revolution? Unfortunately he was owned and paid by the US tobacco industry, so the only ones who wanted to help were the Soviets. Fast forward half a century and between Cubans in exile and half a century old US dogma, there is no way the Cuban story can be allowed to be a success story, so it has to be crushed in any which way possible, humanitarian costs being acceptable collateral. They could have fair and free elections between multiple parties tomorrow and Cuba would still be screwed. Scandinavian countries were somewhat better off. At least we only lived next door to Germany. When they aren't busy invading us (us as in Denmark), they are happy to trade with us. We usually sell stuff to them at outrageous overprices too while laughing behind their backs. I mentioned in the past, that I'm more than anything an "anarchist". I believe any institution that becomes too big is a danger to us. Whether it's a bank, a corporation, a church or a government. They serve their own inhuman ideals first and foremost and individuals will inevitable become crushed by the grinding gears of such institutions. I say, break them up, tear them down, bring power and decision making closer to the individual. Unregulated capitalist systems inevitably leads to monopolies where you get to pay everything you have for nothing, given enough time. It's probably not a coincidence that eh EU Commissioner for Competition (basically a watchdog keeping large monopolies in check) is from Denmark. You need governments by the people for the people and a transparency that would make many governments shiver in fear for people to feel as happy about their governments as the Scandinavians.
