  1. yeah, why not? what do you think is european country with most sexual assaults, Belgium? Close. IIRC it's Denmark. You really should only trust statistics that you've doctored yourself.
  2. So are you ready to go full accelerationist and vote Bernie/Tulsi in '20 yet?
  3. There was a ton of melee combat in Dying Light as well, and it worked perfectly from a first person perspective. Better than, say, Witcher 3.
  4. I'm not aware of this, but Paradox did step in to force a rewrite of a VtM supplement a few months ago, after the perpetually offended claimed it contained passages that were "disrespectful" to LGTBQ+ groups. White Wolf had their editorial independence taken away as a result and is now just a brand manager. Whether that constitutes "censorship" is debatable, but Paradox have a well-earned reputation for coming down hard on speech they don't approve of. That was due to the outrage the Chechens had about it than it really was a the LGTB*alphabet soup* community. Paradox also allows murdering children, incest, slavery, mass genocide, eating of other creatures, Deus Vulting, Devil Worship, and other family friendly topics in their games. Except they did explicitly apologize for the content being "disrespectful". No mention of Chechens, either. Guess their feels don't matter.

  6. The problem is that the moron in question not only struggles with tech matters -- he doesn't understand copyright, or even the legislation he pushes. It's never a bad time to remind folks that a MEP makes ~6.5k €/mo (after tax).
  7. Generally, you don't. Diablerie is the obvious answer, but that not something to be done lightly. In PnP you can easily lose control of your PC -permanently- if you try it on elder vampires, and it's a huge no-no in vampire society. To do so as a Caitiff is more or less tantamount to suicide unless you have some seriously powerful "friends"... who would only be allowing you to go through with the deed because they need you for their own ends. Besides, you only lower your generation by one for each snack, so you'd have to be some kind of serial diablerist to go from thin-blood to, say, 7th gen or so. It's not something you can hide from either, because your aura is permanently damaged. There's also a Tremere ritual (there's a ritual for just about anything) that allows temporarily lowering generation. The GM I played with especially hated this because it could, in theory, allow you to temporarily lower your gen to 3rd, meaning unlimited blood point expenditure per turn. But even if you could find someone who actually knows it, you'd have to persuade them to share the information. And that's kind of anathema for Tremere.
  8. I'm not too happy with Paradox but that mostly has to do with their "release now, fix later" policy. That being said, I'm not against clans being added later as DLC. Playing a Nosferatu brought me back to the game a year or two after release, but after the three, back to back, initial playthroughs I was kinda burned out, so I wouldn't have done it immediately. And the fantastic Clan Quest Mod made me re-install once again just last year -- I would have been very happy to pay for an official Sabbat clans add-on. I guess it'll depend on how much content the DLC brings, but they tend to be good value for the money (at least for PDS games). edit: hooray for random post de-formatting forum software
  9. The revised WoD setting is Vampire: The Requiem, isn't it? Wouldn't them using "the Masquarade" indicate its set in the same world as the original game? Yes. Vampire: The Masquerade has been (re-)continued, and the latest revision (v5) was released just last year. I'm not sure what's the status of the Requiem setting at this point, but I think both are active franchises at this point.
  10. It would appear that Malcador's thirst for schadenfreude is going to go unquenched. "Hardsuit Labs", though?
  11. Yes, this is very much in line with your previous argument that you should consider any money put towards crowdfunding as lost from the get-go, and thus any broken, bloatware-ridden product you get is a bonus that you should be thankful for, because "projects are hard". And if one voices their disapproval of what is perceived as scummy tactics, then they "don't understand crowdfunding" and should GTFO. By essentially adopting the stance that businesses of any size are literally satan and one should expect them to eat babies, and so one asked for it unless they cut all ties and go live off the grid, you probably can get sore from patting yourself on the back for your cleverness and foresight, but I fail to see exactly what point you are making. Yes, you can use Windows and be concerned about your privacy. It's certainly not black-and-white, and if one's willing to do a little bit of research, you can make your browsing habits reasonably untraceable and reduce data collection to a minimum. You can probably not become a complete digital ghost, a legend spoken of softly in the deepest corners of the dark web, but the average user doesn't need that, and businesses don't brute force their way past privacy safeguards to collect data. Likewise, for many people, using Steam is already a concession and there's pushback against any **** they try to pull, with varying and debatable results. It is ridiculous to defend Epic because "you already use Steam" as if there were no differences, unless you are playing the contrarian for the sake of it. And LOL @ Android phones. With root access and sensible use of the device's connection to the internet, you can very much control what and when Google or whoever knows about it. Of course that may mean spending money on a phone that isn't locked by your carrier, and not simply leaving the device's connection on 24/7, but it's certainly possible and a far cry from "lol, you have a phone, game over".
  12. As someone who primarily favors GOG, it concerns me that Steam may eventually start doing this as well. I know that for most folks this wouldn't be an issue, but I am not a fan of Valve either. Their first measure, the DRM complaints "review bomb" culling, doesn't exactly inspire confidence that their response will be any more pro-consumer than Epic's tactics in the first place.
  13. Get a load of this "alpha" male. Just because you're incapable of being a decent person, it doesn't mean that others are "faking" it. Oh, look. Another slacktivist who believes he's changing the world, one furious post at a time. Have you punched your daily nazi yet?
  14. I'm not really familiar with them, what's wrong with them? The 'witty' pseudonym you've given them makes me think I'll probably find the reasons given laughable, but I'm open to being persuaded otherwise. Heh. Beyond the fact that their editorial line is based on fellating publishers, Google and the other usual suspects, it's less of a news outlet than a place for their writers to throw their poorly sourced opinion pieces in. A few months ago there was this non-stop ranting about how crypto miners were destroying gaming for everyone, for example, disguised as hardware "news" articles. It's also full of garbage clickbait "what do we know about X? Release date of X" articles that contain **** all about X, and amount to "we don't know jack squat about X". And they keep pushing those back to the front page every time there's the smallest bit of info about X released. The website layout is atrocious for widescreen, but if you're not browsing from a phone, you're SOL. The frequent virtue signaling is just the icing on the cake.
  15. TOW's publisher is (a subsidiary of) Take-Two, not Obsidian. Put the pitchforks and torches away. And by the way, PoliticallyCorrectGamesN is trash, and you shouldn't give them the clicks.
  16. I don't think so -- the law doesn't apply to "traditional" media, i.e. those registered as media with the government. So CNN and Fox could still peddle bull unmolested.
  17. Hey, weren't people demanding that Valve curate their storefront? Well, they are starting by curating reviews...
  18. You guys are going to give mkreku an aneurysm.
  19. I'm all for a system where you can vote ****bags out. Sadly, that is not possible anywhere* -- you can only ever vote a different ****bag in to replace them. *the closest you can get are things like empty seats "parties", but that's a fairly rare alternative and even where it exists, understandably the establishment makes it virtually impossible for any such initiatives to gain traction.
  20. In a sense maybe, but to me that seems rather short-sighted. Is it really in your own interest? We know that Epic's tactics are already responsible for GOG having to cancel their fair pricing program. Not that I object to developers getting a bigger slice of the pie, but something's gotta give, and a race to the bottom benefits no one long-term. In any case, Julian Gallop continuing to make games -and more to the point, games you are interested in, seeing how he openly doesn't give two ****s about his "hardcore" fans- is predicated on him keeping his word -- something you'd have to be nuts to put any stock in, after this sad episode. As AwesomeOcelot pointed out, this reflects badly on crowdfunding as a system, for everyone. If anyone can change the rules mid-game because greed "unforeseen circumstances" without consequences, insecurity is going to make people reluctant to put down money and poor little companies may go out of business as a result. But I guess you don't care about those because Julian's game will be good, right? Maybe? He told us as much.
  21. I don't see how understanding the decision from a financial pov makes it any more acceptable from a consumer standpoint. I mean, fiscal engineering is evidently lucrative and something that can improve any business' long term viability. It's still ethically questionable, and is basically ****ing everyone else over because, at least in principle, taxes are necessary to pay for important stuff. Reminder: in a capitalist environment, you are not personally responsible for the well-being of poor little corporations. As a consumer you must defend *your own* interests, because CEOs sure aren't going to.
  22. Nope. Being a general piece of **** is condicio sine qua non to get anywhere further than maybe secretary of your local workers' council.
  23. I don't remember this bit, how did it happen? Because they allowed SRR to be released DRM-free on GOG, after all. https://www.vg247.com/2013/11/13/shadowrun-returns-to-be-released-drm-free-due-to-deal-with-microsoft/
