Actually we've had a few discussions over the years about Shadowrun and the excellent Genesis and SNES games that were set in the universe. It would be great to see an RPG in that universe. I always thought a Jagged Alliance style combat engine would be a fantastic fit for it.
Both Half-Life 2 and Ultima 7 are blatant rip-offs of Pong and should never be called revolutionary. Pong is also a rip-off of Table Tennis, so that's not revolutionary either.
Aren't a lot of dosbox compatible games free for download now?
Dosbox is far from perfect though. I've tried to get Xcom 3 to run through it a few times and I can't get the sound to work.
VDMS might help.
Thanks for that. I'm sure if I try hard enough, I can get any of my old games to run, but my point is old software is going to have compatibility problems with or without DRM.
There are ways around DRM as well. I've already stated that I am a huge supporter of petitioning for better customer service from EA regarding DRM. For example, when I re-install Windows, I need to call and get a new code. It takes some time, but it's not all that difficult. If EA had a similar set up, I think that would be fantastic.

Most older games that are worth playing won't run well on new OS's anyways. Thankfully there are a few services out there that work to make older titles playable, and they are very well priced. Gametap and Good Old Games are they biggest I know of.
My King's Quest 1-4 boxset is simply gathering dust, it isn't playable with or without DRM.
NCAA Football 08. My junior running back better win the Heisman after getting robbed the last two years. Player of the week three out of 5 times should count for something. I can't decide whether to go pro at the end of the year or stay for my senior year.
I agree with this. It may seem naive to say that "Hey, DRM has never caused any issues for me, so I'm not concerned about it" but I also haven't heard too many people have problems with DRM that weren't up to something shady. Every time we have a DRM thread we get a few people pretty much admitting they pirate titles, so it's hard to have much sympathy for them.
Geez, I'm pretty sure I've explained why the business model of MMO's is an economic necessity about 5 times on this board. I think Hades just refuses to look at reality.
Only half of those titles actually burned and died, Hades. Dark Ages of Camelot was successful and had multiple expansions. DDO and Vanguard are still plugging away modestly, and Age of Conan sold a million copies at release (although bad business decisions have pissed that away.)
There are quite a few success stories to go along with your doom and gloom.
Weird, I had very little issue running F3. I did get a CTD every hour or two, but not enough to stop me from playing it.
LotR Online has some great storytelling in it. I played through my second flashback, this time as a dwarf during Balin's expedition into Moria. I was slaying Orcs all over the place until the Balrog showed up. I ran for my life, eventually locking myself in a burial chamber. Some guy named Mazog showed up with an army and overwhelmed me.
It's been a great storytelling element to the already very entertaining books.
Well, you need to qualify that statement a bit. Not all religions are about choosing faith and belief above evidence and fact. There isn't evidence for or against the idea of a higher power.
For example, we have evidence about the world's age, we have evidence that dinosaurs exist. Most religions don't dispute that evidence, but the evidence doesn't necessarily rule out the existence of a higher power.
Not really, even most safes offered the choice to pick the lock or hack a computer. And there was never anything really important in them.
And once your skill was high on lockpick, you could just force the lock if you disliked the mini-game.
Found my way out of Moria via an eastern gate and ran into some elves. They've got serious attitude problems...more than even the standard elf. At least they aren't trying to kill me...yet.
I would have preferred that the league not get involved at all. This should have been handled by the Dallas Stars first and foremost. Bettmen should have spoken to team management first before he got involved.
*ahem*I liked Wild Hogs
Some movies do overcome subtitles in the States. City of God and Pan's Labrinth being two that come to mind.
But I don't think you can really compare a family friendly comedy with a bunch of famous actors like Wild Hogs to a witty comedy like Hot Fuzz. Hot Fuzz is better off being compared to something like Pineapple Express (which I haven't seen and have no opinion on, it just seems to fit the adult action comedy mould.)
I'd like to see better voice work in games, but it just doesn't have enough of an impact on sales to be a giant concern for developers (or it might be more accurate to say publishers.) Do you think Fallout 3 sold more copies because of Liam Neeson? Games like Halo sell phenomenally without and voice talent at all.
