It's hard to define "magic". The usual cliche is the spellbook with runes and spellcasting with chanting. If the concepts could be understood and reproduced I don't think science/technology would have any qualms claiming it to be part of its own discipline. Magic seems to always keep getting relegated to "unknown" stuff.

Why don't you use direct deposit? I know some employers that only pay through direct deposit. Plus the numbers are updated faster (that's all that's in your bank account - number records) without you having to pick up/bank cheque.

OK, finally figured it out. The bookcase candles are on the UPPER floor of the library. The wooden walkway. The sequence is Right Mid Mid Mid Mid.

Oh, I'm on the 2nd run through. I've done that part where the door opens, went through eventually coming to the floor above the library, then taking the trapdoor back down to the 3 candles. I just can't figure how to get them to open the bookcase passage. I read there's supposed to be a book in the bookcases that can open the passage but I can't find that either. This is dumb.

I'm still stuck. I've got all 3 candles with their tops on (harmony?) and still no secret pathway. Help? Here's a screenshot of the situation.

In this order middle right left middle <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Does it matter what the candles are like before I start? I read that it's supposed to open up a bookcase path.

Need help urgently! How do I solve the 3 candles riddle in Grout's mansion? I've jumped down the hatch from the upper level and I read something about Perception, Mind and Time but how do I reach harmony? What harmony - all candles on??

Yeah, but those are stat based. I wish there was blood discipline dialogue options for Toreador like Dementia and Dominate.

Yeah. I'm a little disappointed it's not available in dialogue choices like Dementia or Dominate. I'd find it more splashable (sorry, mtg lingo) if it affected dialogue too. I'm just not seeing enough sexy hypno charm in my Toreador dialogue.

The thing that'd concern me most is identity theft and illegal spending sprees. I think a compromise of buying anonymous debit cards that you can add prepaid money as needed would be a fair compromise. Actually that's what Malaysia's already using for paying highway tolls.

How useful's Pressence, btw? Should I be stingy with the experience points (keeping about 10 in reserve) or should I spend all of them as they come? Anything particularly useful to upgrade?

Guess it could be used to track movement/spending, but they pretty much do that with credit/debit cards anyway. The tradeoff of the grannies that dig out their coin purses and spend ages rummaging for exact change would be worth it though.

I'm more like a super fast ninja that shoots people in the face with my shotgun before switching to melee. Either that or I try to drain them when I'm close enough. Btw it was freaky aiming for the heads of the infinte zombies with my .38 while running through the cramped corridors of the decrepit building of the Plague quest (reload faster pls), till I realised that the fire axe worked much better.

What do you guys think of electronic payments? Word is the US will be adopting technology where you can pay for stuff by scanning chips or handphones to pay bills. Sounds good to me. That leaves awkward coin hunting and penny counting (own up those who stay in Canada) a thing of the past since transactions are exact and paid in a few seconds. Plus if you have something prepaid that's pretty much limiting how much can get stolen. You guys heard of something like this at your place?

Is Auspex worth it? It's expensive to upgrade the blood discplines and Celerity seems like the only one worth getting. I've got a hacking skill of around 4 because I picked Wits (doubles up on dodge).

Should I go shotgun or uzi through the game? I'm not sure what to upgrade now. I'm doing the 9th Circle quest and I've got about 5 in melee (eventually katana's my aim), 3 in Celerity, about 5 in lockpicking and 4 in hacking. I've got about 5 in persuasion and a bit in seduction because I'm a sexy Toreador.

There goes my plan of dwarves riding ponies through sewers on a kobold hunt.

I can't tell if people are speaking Thai, Vietnamese or Philipino. It's kind of weird because I can place Korean, Japanese, Mandarin and Cantonese crystal clear. Korean and Cantonese sound rough though.

A persian rug would be fine too. By the way I didn't know period costumes were so expensive. Leather boots sound like a good investment though.

There's a programme that lets you make your own MTG cards. Done right it can be hillarious. During Katrina, someone did a black Looters card that cost 1BB for 2/1, gains control of target artifact opponent controls when it comes into play. Complete with picture of dudes carting off stuff waist deep in water.
