  1. Amen brother
  2. Bizzare. He gets ferried around an industrial wasteland with no cars and few people and taken to 'see the sights' by the official handlers. At one point he plays ping pong and snooker with a giggling ginsing tea salesgirl at one of the venues, she hasen't seen a customer in months.
  3. mw2 can't ne mechwarrior 2 because there already is one. Too bad.
  4. If we are using the American native (no pun intended) definition of socialism it includes things like the wellfare state established in england after WW2. That has nothing to do with controlling the means of production, rather the idea is mutually agreeing to a larger degree of redistribution. The nanny state takes care of you from the cradle to the grave. It works just fine, it's not 'broken', or 'bound to fail' it's just a different way of life than you are used to.
  5. I am looking forward to a new Stalker game, I like them and their atmosphere. One big 'but' though. I have never played a stalker game that was not a buggy crash ridden mess.
  6. I agree that Anarchism is the best form of government. The problem is that the larger the entity, the less room there is for direct democracy. Anarchism is not equipped to handle a whole nation. Communism can be democratic though. There are plenty of communist parties who owe their existence to the voters, in the former Soviet republics for instance.
  7. Ahh thanks. The installation looks a bit complicated, especially since they don't offer technical drawings for all the different cards. How do I know what a voltage regulator looks like. Looks like quite a fun little project nonetheless.
  8. I understand the charge is espionage and murder. There was some mention that they were security contractors, that is to say mercenaries, is this just fabrication. I can't see them working for the Norwegian government though. I mean they aren't exactly known for their adventurous foreign policy, If the Congo(ese ?) were out for money you would think they would demand something that Norway could actually pay. I think there must be good political capital in a high profile case about espionage. Colonial aggression is an easy sell for the locals.
  9. Ah yes, developments since the top of the thread though. What I have now is an arctic cooler 7. It was quite cheap and it works perfectly. The problem is the fan on my radeon 4850.
  10. Oil money, low population. Like one of the Arab emirates.
  11. Yeah that's pretty good, but look at this
  12. So there are replacement (well one would hope superior) cooling units out there guaranteed to work on my card ? I assume this kind of operation would void the warranty as well. I could, I suppose, just send the card back, but I just know that would take forever and a day. I would need a set of tiny screwdrivers as well. I don't have anything like that lying around. Although buying new tools is always nice.
  13. And yet another definition would be 'one of the two teams you were forced to be on during the cold war'
  14. It's pretty nice to have a big government tit to suck on during an economic depression though. We are increasing parts of the public sector to keep people in jobs, all despite a record deficit. It's ok though, we saved up enough to keep the silliness up several years more.
  15. So after some trial and error it turns out that it's the fan on my radeon 4850 that is making the howling noise. No sound when it's doing virus scan on quick mode (100% CPU load) How hard is it to replace the stock fan on one of these things. I don't have a lot of modder's savvy.
  16. Someone should create another thread called "great games no one has ever heard of which have now gone freeware".
  17. Our government is considering putting a cap on on the number of new liquor licenses given out because they think we drink too much, and it's bad for our health. Nanny state indeed.
  18. When is it out ?
  19. Wow that's a really bad photoshop job.
  20. The Israli soldiers are saying it themselves. Even if they didn't their track record of disregard for civilian casualties is well established. It's a more or less unavoidable result of letting an army loose in one of the most crowded places on earth.
  21. How does that go again, 'tl:dr'
  22. I was not impressed with the gameplay footage.
  23. me too. i think my fever broke, however, as i just started sweating. taks Have they started prepping for the pig flu winter assault in the US ?. My stepmother is a nurse and she is part of the group that's supposed to go out and claim bodies when we all start dropping like flies. I dunno how serious it will be, but they are rolling out the full 'outbreak' countermeasures. disinfectant handspray passed out to all workplaces, big red signs about how to avoid transmission, etc.
  24. Yes, quite. I remember when I came to see my dad after he had died and he looked at peace for the first time in months. It all seemed perfectly natural. Everyone else was crying constantly, I didn't until months later when I started having dreams about him. Funny how these things work.
  25. What would I want with anybody's avatar ?, even this Felicia woman you seem to be smitten with.
