  1. How about Barrels instead? Only if the barrels come in crates.
  2. This is the perfect Obsidian game to do this for. You're using your own engine, so you get to code the tools and stuff yourself. The game has lots of facets to work with (levels, items, classes, NPCs, monsters, etc). And finally modding adds significantly to the lifetime and reception of your product. It allows fans to mould the game to their liking, patching out what would otherwise annoy them, helping word of mouth, etc. And it allows players to come back to your games years latter to try out the latest improvements or unofficial expansions - which is always a good thing, because the longer people play your game, the more copies it will sell. So come on, help us help you Obsid! Even if you just make everything soft coded in easy to decipher and read file formats (like the Infinity Engine games largely did) - that'll be enough for the hardcore modders to build and release tools around.

  4. You still offering carrots?

  5. I think so, yeah. My comp is old and they need to patch the bugs in the game anyway.

  6. Where's the BISIMG Drama tag when I need it...? Where it has always been: linked to in my profile.
  7. The colour saturation in that photo is awesome. It looks post-apocalyptic.
  8. You are truly ignorant. Simply because the overall leaders of communism were despotic totalitarians doesn't mean the average communist (especially prior to the end of WW2) had anything to do with such. They tended to in fact be progressive. Even to this day you have communists and socialists all over Europe who happily coexist with democracy and are staunch champions of human rights. You also have far right parties like the BNP and National Front 'happily coexisting'. Honestly, Krez? The only reason eitehr sort of extremist can coexist is because they aren't allowed to enact their planned system. I think Scandinavia might disagree with you. Why do you believe that socialism and democracy are mutually exclusive? It's not really my cup of tea, but... Edit: France, Germany, Japan, Cyprus, Greece to name a few... a much larger list if you include social democracy parties and labour/worker's parties.
  9. Equipment in DS was decent. Not the best example, though. Really good examples of equipment in games are: Fallout 1/2 Diablo 1/2
  10. I remember finding at least 5 in the spider dungeon alone in DS1. Replay it and see. Or I will. And there's at LEAST 22 lore books in DS2, because they're part of a quest.
  11. Knoxx sounds worth it. But no, never bought the xpacks. As for playing with me - you don't need Steam... MP works whether you have it or not I'm happy to go at a slower pace - I probably prefer it. Lemme know Nightshade. You're on my Steam friends list so...
  12. Lies. The game is an insipid, cookie-cutter blotch of pseudomediaeval, elven bull****. Gameplay consists of clicking a lot, and holding the 'Z' button down a lot. It is quite possible that the game was made entirely out of John Major's underpants. It's fun.
  13. The fact that it's going to be on consoles makes me sad. Can we expect a dumbed down interface Obsidian?

  15. The punchline is that it doesn't really have a setting beyond "generic fantasy" so if they want to make something out of it, they will pretty much have to make it from scratch. @Slowtrain: I'm not really complaining about the DS setting, other than it being yet another generic fantasy world, but about the baggage that the DS IP has. There are two mediocre Diablo clones, one horrible spin-off in space and a horrible movie attached to it. The name doesn't really have any positive connotations associated with it, the best you can hope is that no one will remember it any more. Having the Obsidian name on it will probably help a bit, but most people don't know/care who obsidian is. The DS setting is actually pretty developed, Purkake. It has a lot of backstory that was written into the tomes littered around the games, and has since been expanded by books and movies and whatnot. Obsidian have something to work with if they want to, or they can forge ahead with something new. It's the ultimate freedom.
  16. Creating a new IP is a very big job. Obsid can instead take the DS setting and run with it, HOPEFULLY allowing them to put out a polished game (for once).
  17. Exactly! Although you have to admit that DS1 and 2 were pretty.
  18. Sounds good to me! You don't seem to have much to add besides negativity, after all.
  19. Yep! It was frequented by some devs, which was nice.
  20. I tried this with Tigranes, Pidesco, Pop, Deraldin, some others a while back on quakenet. It died. What we really need is some official endorsement from Obsid, like a link at the top of this forum's template. At least a sticky thread in WoT or something. WILL: Are the you admin for that channel? Have you reserved that channel with a bot? You should elect at least one other admin and a mod or two in case you die or go on holidays or whatnot.
  21. To be quite honest, there wasn't enough crates in Dungeon Siege. We need more crates. And mimics that look like crates and eat you when you go to smash them.
  22. So what've we got? Alpha Protocol is out the door Dungeons Siege 3 is being worked on (AWESOME!) New Vegas is almost out the door Wheel of Time game is in the planning stage It seems to me like there's STILL a project they're working on which we don't know about yet.
  23. Yes. The plot ain't too bad either. It IS still a dungeon crawl, but they added a bunch of new RPG elements to it (both in terms of story/dialogue and combat). DS2 is the type of game you'd play once, enjoy, be happy you played, then probably never play again. The plot isn't bad, but it IS linear. That's actually kind of what I thought about DS1, ie I enjoyed it once, but have never played it again. But I did enjoy it once; DS2 seemed more of the same so I passed, but I'll be interested in seeing what this shakes out to be since it seems that it may be aiming to be a different kind of game. They made the DS2 combat and plot far less boring - I was pleasantly surprised. Unfortunately they made the graphics worse. Some kind of karma thing I imagine. Grab it in a bargain bin if you see it - worth a play-through once even more than DS1 IMHO. I've already said this like 3 times in this thread, I know, I'm just excited about Obsid being thrown this IP.
  24. And Obsidian, can I just say that DS1 looked WAY better than DS2? Try and re-capture that vibe. It had such beautiful scenery and atmosphere. DS2 was still nice but more average-looking. I'm sure somebody disagrees with me.
