  1. Waiting ridiculous ammounts of time for console game releases.
  2. You can ? I've got one and thats news to me.
  3. Well Obsidian dosnt seem to be hurting for work. Although I'd put that down to Feargus. It's still too early to tell. But since Bioware seem to be going into less RPG and more hybrid games. The competition may come from some unexpected places.
  4. Quantity over quality. It's kind of a TES watchword.
  5. No it's really very simple. Who else was there? The reason is easy. There was no one else around to it and Bioware owe their RPG rep to the lucky break they got with IP.
  6. Sounds about right if you dont die or lot or ever get stuck.
  7. Part of the reason why you used to get an RPG every couple of months. Didnt seem to bother anyone at the time.
  8. I dont know anything about it beyond the name. Dragon Age was weird because initially they had screenshots. They could release the entire trilogy on one blu ray and still have room to spare.
  9. Key factor is that the new PC gets to save the day and dosnt just become an appendage to the NPCs. I wouldnt want to spend 40 hours playing the game and then have Revan and the Exile pop up and save the day. That would not be in the least bit satisfying.
  10. If it was smart business sense then Bioware would have approached with the D&D idea. That IP was thinking of doing a D&D game and Bioware happened to have an engine that fitted the bill. That I would call luck. The game could have been in any state at the time. It may have even been nothing more than an idea. Just because you stick easter eggs in a game dosnt mean something is always going to come of it. See first paragraph.
  11. As relevent as the other point. All that was left was the RTS engine. And you don't think if BG had been abysmal they wouldnt have looked elsewhere. From starting to do other peoples licenses you mean. Any game that is advertised in a cinema and can't sell a million is a failure in my book. Quite succesful not disputing that. Only pointing out that they have been lucky in having some very good lisences and not having a lot of competition.
  12. How many non D&D tiltes have failed ? How interesting did Biowares original idea for the game (name I completely forget) sound ? Why was Bioware chosen for NwN ? Because of BG. Why were they chosen for KOTOR ? BG/BGII. Jade Empire you can see as Biowares first attempt to escape from doing licenses. And as you yourself said it was hardly a spectacular success.
  13. Someone just released a topless patch (follow link in M&M thread). Guess that will add to it's awsomeness
  14. No the stores only obligation is not to sell said game to anyone under 18.
  15. I am ? Whether or not Bioware jumped ship dosnt change that they had a very lucky break. Interplay had D&D at the time so I'd definately call that lucky.Biowares name was made with those two titles. MDK isnt really well known. Read the bits I've bolded. What that says to me is the big sales have been of known properties.
  16. How similiar is ME to Gears of War ?
  17. All the elements are substandard but it's the best CRPG ever?
  18. Sometimes they fall for thier own hype. There are two factors when it comes to Bioware though. 1. They got very luck with Interplay and BG1/2. 2. They have had the CRPG field more or less to themselves for quite a number of years.
  19. If the games are not rated then thats like a green light that they are ok for whoever buys them to play them. If the store owner sells the game to someone who dosnt meet the rating (think KONG is a 15 in this neck of the woods) then the store owner has broken the law. Making parents aware is one purpose of the ratings system. If a game is rated 18 it's a clear signal that this game isnt something for most children
  20. Being dead would make the most sense. I dont think there is any benifit in dragging out the old companions (and paying for their VO's) as well as having new companions and having to pay them as well.
  21. Deadly Nightshade. She likes signing her posts.
  22. Looks like Oblivion with a deeper combat system. Which actually got me thinking. If the Revolution controller can act like a virtual weapon. Is the whole pushing buttons thing going to hack it in the future ?
  23. Exploration B - Lots to explore but it's mostly just the same old stuff. Character Creation B - Lots of options to play around with. Too easy to make a non viable character (not enough warning of this). Combat B - It's fun but it's about as deep as a puddle. NPCs D - They range from bad to awful . Story F - Not only is it totally not compelling. It's also completely opposite to the wander around you have all the time in the world design of the game. Overall C. Methinks mr P is taking the P anyway :D
