So you would rather have poor quality games that can be patched rather than high quality games which work 99% of the time ouf the box...

Clone Wars Vol.2
ShadowPaladin V1.0 replied to Darth Flatus's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
That was a really nice piece of foreshadowing. BTW where is EP 25 ? Is that the one being held back to show prior to EP III? Toonami is great but I really wish they would let you know when something is ending. Same thing happened with Rave Master, next day back to episode I without warning. -
Lets see Xbox version played out of the box with no real problems. The quicker MS kills off the PC as a viable games platform the better. People have become too used to the low quality crap now. For anything to change, patches are just accepted as normal. It is inevitable just as previous platforms were replaced the PC as a games platform is no longer the first choice.

KotOR 2: Diredtor's Cut
ShadowPaladin V1.0 replied to Jambo's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Wouldnt pay for one at all. Really moved on from KOTOR II had fun, all done playing new games. It's not like this is the first poll of this type. Wont be the last either. -

Yet Another Week and No Patch
ShadowPaladin V1.0 replied to Lemurmania's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Because the Xbox is a known platform. Every Xbox is the same when it comes to running games. Dont have to worry about configuration conflicts, optimising so it will run on lesser systems with lower graphics, variable resolutions etc. Game works on Xbox A will work on box B-Z as long as they havnt been changed, their optics damaged, or you have a bad disk. You also dont have a ton of crap on your Xbox which you might have on your PC (and not even know it). Modded Xboxes have issues, as does running the game from the HD but neither of those things are officially supported. So anyone having problems there , out of luck. -
Rainbow Six, Splinter Cell or SWAT?
ShadowPaladin V1.0 replied to Lucas's topic in Computer and Console
Splinter Cell is like a sneak around game. You dont have a squad in that one. There are so many Rainbow Six games now you would have to be more specific. Everyones current favourite tactical shooter seems to be Hill 30. SWAT 4 and Splinter Cell are the only ones I have played. Although I have played the SOCOM games (worth renting, but not really my thing). -
Cheezits: The official food of the Sith Lords!
ShadowPaladin V1.0 replied to Ace's topic in Way Off-Topic
Never seen those. I do have the old Luke doll and the Leia doll (boy did I freak when my parents bought me that , I was not happy). But they did make it up by buying the old Han Solo heavy blaster and stormtrooper rifle. :D I should see how much all that crap in my attic is worth these days. -
New Dr Who looks bloody awful.
ShadowPaladin V1.0 replied to ShadowPaladin V1.0's topic in Way Off-Topic
First episode starts in half an hour. Have to wait till next week to see if anything improves as I've already seen this one and I thought it was well, to be blunt crap. -
Cheezits: The official food of the Sith Lords!

I take it having all sorts of movie merchandising in your snacks is not common ? I seem to recall similiar merchandising from the originals, including a pez dispenser in the shape of Yoda and Darths heads (still got them somewhere). -

The Bard's Tale Demo was released

Well you may think so, but a game where I can read a novel and a half between turns isnt something I care for. -
The Bard's Tale Demo was released
ShadowPaladin V1.0 replied to karka's topic in Computer and Console
Well it would be non sensical to remake it using the old formula, which is now serioiusly outdated. -

The new Bards Tale game comments on both of those. :D -
The Bard's Tale Demo was released
ShadowPaladin V1.0 replied to karka's topic in Computer and Console
Well love it or loathe it. You will never look at RPGs in the same way after playing it :D "I will await you at the top of the tower.. If you surivive" "Hang on a minute he was just here. Why do I have to climb to the top of a bloody tower now" And the song of the chosen just has me in stitches. Oh it's sort of non linear too. I just wandered into chapter IX and got a serious kicking... The only thing I could say about it, is that it's slow to get going. It dosnt really take off until you get your second intrument and a nice selection of songs. There is no imediate story either (although the way the intro works you know there is one at some point) it's just the "life of the Bard" for the first couple of chapters. -

No, he's just the supreme cynic. Has lots in common with the Bard. -
Still wearing the Mining Uniform?
ShadowPaladin V1.0 replied to TetsuJedi's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
One game I wore it for about three planets. Didnt want to look like a Jedi , but also wanted to use the big powers along with a custom disintergrator. Not your typical Jedi that one. -
Thats one message you never see in the game :D

The Bard's Tale Demo was released
ShadowPaladin V1.0 replied to karka's topic in Computer and Console
It just keeps getting better and better. Brian has taken every cliche in the RPG handbook and actually given the character (minus the swearing) the sort of lines you really want after visiting NPC 1,2,3 and 4 before finally being sent back to NPC one. The combat model is so/so , you can also die quite quickly if you get surrounded. Gets more managable once you upgrade your instrument though. It was hard work being a bow user prior to that because you dont have those one shot kill bows and skills like multishot need to be charged which means no running and gunning. With an exception or two (which are in jokes) things drop junk which then gets translated into silver likewise when you upgrade your old item becomes its value in silver so you dont need to unload at a shop every 10 minutes. It's got more story elements, villiagers, people to talk to etc. Than both CoN and BG. Much less combat heavy too, although you still have to hack your way through the odd horde. -
It dosnt work that way. The best way to find bugs is to release the game. It's like having 1000's of unpaid testers because people love to come along and complain of what they found. An extra month of testing with a small pool of testers dosnt have the same result. You cant fix bugs you dont know about and the only way that you get to know about them is by releasing the game. Unless of course you already have your patch ready anyway which is a bit cynical.

When it comes to bugs the PC is a lost cause. It's just not feasable to test every configuration and every software setup. I've only played the Xbox but I've had enough experience of PC's to realise it. The only bug of note I came across was the airspeeder not triggering scenes. And the robe thing, but was really just common sense not to exploit it. "
