Greatest Lightsaber Duelist?
ShadowPaladin V1.0 replied to simply yellow's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
I'm still waiting for the disk so I can frame by frame it and see how he pulled that move off. Personally someone coming in at that angle I would have either sliced his head off or cut down through the torso. or even better force pushed him into the lava and saved myself the bother. Heres an interesting thought. We all know that Obi lost on purpose in EPIV so Luke could escape (because no way would Luke leave him behind) so the question is do you think he could have killed Darth if not for the other circumstances? -
No I couldnt say as a fact that there would be no war. However one of the major reasons for instigating it would be gone. Regardless of whether the war was about UMD's or not take that reason away by letting the weapons inspectors to the job unhindered which was certainly not the case. And that puts a whole different complexion on things. Even without finding anything Saddams behaviour prior to the start of the war blocking and misleading the inspectors pretty much justifies it as he looks like he's hiding something even if that something dosnt exist. Well when you have nations like France being "bribed" into a no vote It cant do its job as those who are voting no are doing it as much out of self interest as those voting yes. The UN is a paper tiger. It's amazing the gulf between the credibility that people think they have and what they actually have. Put it this way , without the US the UN would be little more than an empty threat who waggles their finger at naughty nations. Which is all they end up doing a good deal of the time anyway.

Yes but even if he did your not going to get any support even from staunch allies from the UK if inspectors have gone over every millineter of the country and been granted full access to everything they requested without being watched like hawks and huge ammounts of procrastination. As for the Iraqis saying they were spying, what the hell do they have technology wise that the US would be interested in? This another thing that amuses me. The UN is neither infallable or all knowing. In fact I consider them a bunch of spineless ****ups yet you get their ok and it's seens as a legitimate mandate weird isnt it.

GEORGE LUCAS PLANS KOTOR ERA MOVIE!
ShadowPaladin V1.0 replied to Nur Ab Sal's topic in Way Off-Topic
No when an opinion flies in the face of the facts it's not equal. It's quite possible to hold an opinion which is completely dellusional or completely ignorant. The first is a lost cause, the second, well most people eventually come around when educated sufficiently. http://www.theflatearthsociety.org/forums/ Yet oddly you are not typing that George Lucas is a great screenplay writer/direcor.. -
GEORGE LUCAS PLANS KOTOR ERA MOVIE!
ShadowPaladin V1.0 replied to Nur Ab Sal's topic in Way Off-Topic
Now it's the opposite it shows knowledge of Georges works in comparison to the works of others It's not my peronal point of view. It's just one I happen to share with the world at large and especially the movie making community. Many , many people respect George for his vision of Star Wars but no one admires him as either a writer or director which tells you everything you need to know. Now your more than welcome to stick your fingers in your ears and continue to claim George is a fantastic writer and director but dont be expected to be taken seriously by anyone who isnt. A. Ignorant B. A troll -
Oh. :"> Jokes dont come across that well on message boards. It depends how far back you go. The Istari (Gandalf and friends) were the same type of divine beings as the Balrog. Because they had almost destroyed the earth in Melkors time by doing the whole assault of the divine powers thing they sent the wizards against Sauron to be a more subtle and less destructive force. Saruman started off very much as a "good guy" but he delved too deeply into the artifices of the enemy and became trapped. Both he and Sauron are Aules servents (or rather were) and he's the closest Middle Earth has to a god of technology. Sauron in the age of Numenor is very much doing good acts to bring about an evil plan. In the guise of Anatar. So in many ways everyone has already had their roles set as it were in previous works. So taken as a whole the characters are much more complex than they appear in the book as a standalone work.

GEORGE LUCAS PLANS KOTOR ERA MOVIE!
ShadowPaladin V1.0 replied to Nur Ab Sal's topic in Way Off-Topic
So you are saying that George is a great screenplay writer and director then? No your welcome to state your opinion but your opinon no matter how wrong it be. No my post is what reality is George is a mediocre screenwriter director sorry if you dont like that but that is the truth. -
Do you believe in the idea of Democracy?
ShadowPaladin V1.0 replied to Kaftan Barlast's topic in Way Off-Topic
It's his last term anyway. Either Gordon Brown takes over somewhere along the line, or he has to step down before the next election. If you look at what was required to get the conservatives in it was always going to be a task. The only realistic way it was it was going to happen was for the lib dems to say vote conservative. But since they have dellusions of grandeur that was never going to happen so Labour more or less won by default. Though the drop in seats makes it a somewhat pyric victory. I'd much rather see the election as a fight between two parties with preliminary rounds since then you dont get split votes. -
Some say it's because he wanted people to think he had the weapons and that the US would never attack because the UN would never let them. At the same time all but bribing France to block the war. Perhaps an Iraq without any sort of weapons he saw as vulnerable to attack from others in the region. But in defence of Mr Bush if my inspectors were being treated like that, well the conclusion I would reach is they were shifting the stuff around while the inspectors were being distracted. But if the inspectors had been given 100% access from the start I dont think this would have ever happened regardless of what George wanted because you needed at least a doubt that he might have weapons, and as pointed out his actions blocking the inspectors could certainly be seen as suspicious.

GEORGE LUCAS PLANS KOTOR ERA MOVIE!
ShadowPaladin V1.0 replied to Nur Ab Sal's topic in Way Off-Topic
Well as usual your opinon and the facts differ. Unless your going to actually claim that George is a great screenplay writer and director which will at least be worth a laugh. -
Thats quite an assumsion although if Iran keeps up with it's nuclear program then it could happen. Really dont see it though not without some catalyst. I doubt "reports" are going to be particularly convincing this time around. They had already had more than enough time if they were not being constantly watched impeded and railroaded. If the guy had nothing to hide why do it ? Since the logical conclusion is you dont need to mislead if there is nothing there anyway.

Thats debatable but even so were he to actually use real talent rather than his own lets be honest mediocre abilities as a screenwriter and director Star Wars would be that much better for it. I have no doubt at all if he had stepped back the new trilogy would be something really special rather than two dire films and a slightly above average one. -

Then why is the one that is widely almost universaly acknowledged as the best the only movie that didnt have him as screenwriter or director. While George has a vision there are those far more skilled at bringing that vision to life than he is. -
But he was also being obtrusive and not giving the inspectors full access. That may have changed right at the 11th hour but that was his general attitude. Still could you ever see the war happening without 9/11 ? Because I really cant.

Star Wars KotOR3: Myth or Fact?
ShadowPaladin V1.0 replied to =Overlord='s topic in Computer and Console
Thats always a tough one because in a game like an RPG you need lots of extra loot to cover the various builds and choices you can make. Of course anything you cant use you sell. The only way around that is to give the character specific weapons that are upgradable but thats something I would never support in a game that didnt have a pregenerated character. -

Grey Jedi I can do "evil" when required but I dont enjoy it and it holds no attraction for me which means I'm not tempted by it.

The one with Anne Hesch and Beneath. -
Your fault for not putting Roman Empire in "" which I see you have this time. Really Iraqs having/had elections isnt it ? Democratic elections... ummm yep that means that the US is spreading democracy. Afganistan has an elected leader... Conclusion your either clueless or your irrational hatred for the US blinds you to the facts.

Star Wars KotOR3: Myth or Fact?
ShadowPaladin V1.0 replied to =Overlord='s topic in Computer and Console
It's no different to how it's been since BG and the goldbox games were even worse except they had a more elegant inventory system. No one forces you to pick the stuff up and quite frankly you dont need to pick it up unless your working on your retirement fund (ala Pirates) ending the game with 10,000 creds and not picking up the myriad of stuff that isnt better than what you have is no different than finishing with 100,000 and stripping everything bare. The flaw is not with the game, it's rather with the behaviour. In a movie the hero will always have what they need. You dont see Harrison Ford looting every StormTrooper in the detention bay to fun the republic.. In a game because no one wants to come across something shiny and not be able to afford it they turn into human vacuum cleaners sucking up all before them for resale. It's nothing like Diablo since you dont in fact kill the same boss over and over for no purpose other than drops because the bosses dont respawn in the same way. -
The biggest difference is both simple and obvious. The US will only react, it wont act. At least in an overt millitary manner. Saddam had countless chances to back down and he didnt. 9/11 gave George the mandate to do whatever he wanted.Pull a tiger by the tail dont be suprised if it bites you. Let me paint you a picture to dispel your "Roman Empire" theory. If the US was a modern day Roman Empire then Iraq would be depopulated at this point. The Romans would move in and as long as you did things the Roman way everything would be fine. Resist once they had conquered you wouldnt last very long. The US may be spreading an ideology of democracy but it's hardly empire building.

Biggest problem with Jade Empire was how the NPCs worked. They either sit on their butts and recharge your abilities which quite frankly I never needed. Or they die leaving you to kill everything and then pop again fully healed. At least KOTORs NPCS had a function beyond being a talking book to spoonfeed you their background. In Jade Empire they were more unwanted hangers on than comrades.

Sometimes I think people should take a proficiency test before being allowed to vote. I mean you have to do it before you can drive and to qualify for employment. But any tom **** or harry no matter how clueless can vote. Perhaps a computerised exam fail and your vote is void pass and your vote gets counted. -
I have but obviously he too considered it too much for the cinema audience and stripped the more complex elements out for general release. Which really only reinforces the point I made. Since I know the books inside out anyway its not really anything new to me at least. And even the directors cut is less complex than the books themselves especailly when you take the whole history into account. But again it's about pacing. Reading a book is a much more sedate affair which you do at your own pace, giving you time to digest what it going on.
