Tends to happen when you give children weapons. What you really have to ask yourself is would they do it if they were not constantly trying to create a buffer zone between themselves and the people trying to blow them up. If you lived in a country that was attacked by pretty much everyone around it shortly after it was created and alongside people who wanted you wiped off the map I bet you would be xenophobic too. People have always persecuted Jews in some form so some sort of xenophobia is perfectly understandable. Even "friends" have turned on them or turned a blind eye when it let them off paying their debts.

As long as it's true I can live with it :D It's in the corrupt regimes best interests to keep people stupid. It's also in the regimes best interest to create a boogeyman figure on which they can blame all the ills of the world. For Germany it was the Jews. For America the "Reds under the bed" and for the corrupt regimes of Africa and the Middle East its the USA. The biggest threat to religion is education and freedom and when you control your people through religion thats the last thing you want in your back yard.

Thats because their leaders use the US as a scapegoat to mask the fact they either want these people dead to make some more room or to cover up that that corrupt and siphoning off aid money into the army and the people are too stupid to realise they are being played for suckers.

I believe George when he says that he's spreading democracy for the good of all people. It might creep me out a bit (Iraq was ok with me since I see it as unfinished business) but I believe he really sees himself as doing it for the good of people rather than oil. The oil is just a happy side effect.

As I understand it only a fraction of the people died in the "war" as were killed during the 10 years of sanction. Sanctions in effect starve the populace of food medicine and other basic items yet no one seems to worry overmuch because it dosnt make the news. What sanctions dont do is have an effect on the dictatorship and any destabilising side effects are lost when you live in such a climate of fear. If the insurgents would let the new government get on with things and take a political rather than a terrorist hand in matters (the IRA managed it eventually) things could resume some kind of stability and ordinary people could cease being blown up by cowardly suicide bombers. As for where the UMD's went, well Syria seems a likely place.

For some reason EPII makes my skin crawl. It's the only one that I would actively avoid watching. I dont think EP I is good, but I would still watch it if I had nothing better to do. I'd rather mow the lawn than watch EPII. If it were a choice between EPII and a rectal exam I'd still have to think about it.
