  1. I would posit that you are in the minority. Your statement was wrong on many levels. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> You would have to pay that for the number of DvD's you would need. On that subject. I watched a 5 hour Xenosaga movie on the weekend and that managed to fit on 1 DvD (it being a mixture of FMV and engine scenes). Ah , how to value a game, the eternal question. See it really dosnt matter if it's costing developers twice as much to make, if all your getting is the same DvD you were paying
  2. Don't see why that would be a problem. Do you mean it's not possible or it's not suited ?
  3. There is an XP patch which worked for me. If thats the problem. Still comes up with an error but if you click past it, the game seems to work fine. Too much micromanagement in SMAC I find. Too many cities. I like Civ IV's needing to have less cities.
  4. You dont have to. The game seriously degenerates about 2/3rds the way through.
  5. If anything it's the reverse since you don't have a set ammount for specific tasks, rather you have to juggle it between them. Only a "good" thing if you have no intention of pushing the machine to it's limits. Otherwise your always going to have to compromise between graphics and performance.
  6. Nice dodge. Herve would be proud of you. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Nice comeback. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> There are so many Final Fantasies I dont see how anyone could say they universally suck. "
  7. Um, em, gee. 3 consoles to 1 PC. 3:1? I don't know about you guys, but the EBGames I go to has about half the titles for PC that they do for Xbox, on the little horizontally displayed racks with the new releases, but then they have about ten times the old games in stock, placed vertically like books, all up and down the back wall. It is pretty much the same for the Gamecube games, with a somewhat larger selection of PS2 games. Handhelds are all on their own little wall near the entrance, as are new realeases. Somebody must be buying all the 'not quite as new' games. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> The one I usually go to (rarely because most of the stuff I get online now) has one wall (opposite the counter) of PS2 games, the far wall is shared by Xbox and GC games, just around from that is the PC section which is about the size of a two bookcases and the handheld section (about the same space, but the boxes are smaller so more in it). Just as you come in , is the new releases on stands. And across from that all the used console games for sale in baskets.
  8. The majorty of the console consumer market (those that buy from Wallmart etc) have no idea how to pirate console games. That gives you a much larger "safe" market. This may well change in the future , but thats how it is right now.
  9. In that case a DS or GBA Fallout would be a pretty good move.
  10. You know who voices Anna dont you ?
  11. That was prior to vo being the norm for games as well.
  12. Yep makes selecting things a lot easier, although they don't own it anymore do they ? Or could they redo FO1&2 without any problems ? I'm not even sure what they own anymore but handhelds are always a good option if you want to keep production values down.
  13. Why ? It's not the same thing anyway. In PST you have a cast of known characters so you can make them look anyway you like. In IWD you have a cast of upto 6 characters from numerous possible classes races and genders. Everything PST is basically built around those characters, the weapons, the spells , the story.
  14. They are going to need some sort of plan. Personally I would release all of the old IP stuff on handheld format. Thats pretty good place to start and it keeps the costs down. It really dosnt take a great deal to make a succesful handheld game, in comparrison to something that would get noticed on a console in todays market.
  15. That's pretty obvious since the PC primary function is not to play games. However the closer the consoles come to offering the gaming enviroment that only a top quality PC could , the more the consoles will eat into the game sales. Which is exacly whats been happening over the last five years.
  16. It won't "fail" because like the Xbox they will trow a lot of money at it. Whether or not it actually makes money, well thats another matter.
  17. It's not much different that it's always been. The only thing that has really changed is your seeing more imported JRPGs. There never were a great deal of western RPGs , although the recent crop have been pretty dire compared to the earlier ones on the PC.
  18. I saw this over blockbusters and since it's relatively quiet this week I rented it. No real expectation , but wow was I pleasently suprised. It's awsomely good fun , has the sort of combat system that isnt too hard , but at the same time dosnt really tolerate button mashing. Perfectly suited for the RPG/Action beatumup. Has RPG elements, in that you can raise your character levels , equip them (this shows up on the models) and buy and find various enhancement "potions". You can also talk to people, get quests, that sort of thing. It's also incredibly beautiful especially in chapter II with the snow on the cherry blossom trees. The only negative is it's just short Just as I was really getting into it, it ended. The closing song would have been worth the rental cost alone though. There are also some unlocked things, unfortunately I have to take it back now and get ready for a trip so I don't know what they are. I'd hesitate to recomend it for buying, even though I enjoyed it immensely it's just a too on the short side to warrant a full price purchase. I heard they are making a sequel for the PS3 , hopefull that will sort out the very minor niggles I had (like no full speech). If you do play it, do so in Japanese with the relevent subtitle. Its much better and it dosnt have that cheesey dubbed movie feel that Jade Empire did. Have a good weekend and i'll answer any further questions on monday (If there are any) BTW the game is about 10 hours long give or take an hour depending on how much exploring and leveling you do. I still had a lot of empty slots in the custom items list.
  19. Thats why the game is clocking up big numbers. In most cases it's cheaper to pick up the compilations than it is to buy things seperate. That's how I ended up owning 3 copies of NwN. Not that I paid a great deal for any other than the first.
  20. Can't deny that. Games just arrived along with a free playable demo of kong.
  21. It's probably where the christians nicked the jesus thing from.
  22. I didn't much there are few things I find more dull than watching a red bar creep along at a snails pace. hunting down the last remaining german who had gone and locked himself in bog was no fun either.
  23. Apparently Mario is 20 this year. http://shop.gameplay.co.uk/webstore/plat_s...sp?platform=NGC
