  1. Under the Queens leadership that would have been what Onderon would become though. It's simply looking at the characters of the two leaders. Same thing happened to Alderan if you recall. Ewww. Dosnt really matter, the point is they realised that the only way to stop the Empire was to kill the emporer. Which is probably much the same revelation Revan had after he got his memories back and realised what a mess Malak had left.
  2. Oddly enough that one caught my eye too.
  3. http://www.maltzauctions.com/acclaimip.htm
  4. Twice as good as Twilight Princess would suit me fine. DvD is about 3 times what a mini disk has too. HDTV is probably more impressive to a console owner who's never had a high end PC than it is to me.
  5. But still exists. Every country got its rises and falls. Remember Sith Empire ? It was totalitaristyc autoritharian empire and lost war badly to the "non efficient" Republic. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> It depends on what the Sith do. Remember Carthage ? Do you mean the Empire from the OT ? The only reason it was beaten is because Luke or Anakin (depends on your PoV and I dont really care) Killed the dictator. Thats how you win a war against a dictatorship. If not they would have been massacared by the new death star. Thats probably why Revan buggered off he was going to find a way to stop the Sith from the top.
  6. Plumbers Don't Wear Ties <shudder> proof positive that a crap game is a crap game regardless of the plaform. You would be hard pressed to find a crap Nintendo game. You may find games that dont equate to your tastes (I loathe Mario platformers) but not games that are outright crap like the one above who's name I will not type again (cause its long).
  7. Except it's not true. If that is the case it's the developer being lazy and trying to make a fast buck. Or the developer being inexperienced in console development and not doing things as efficiently as they otherwise might.
  8. I think it collapses several times in the 4000 years between KOTOR and EPII. More efficiently than the republic. Better is subjective and not really the point here. I'm not trying to prove that dictatorships are better for the people. Suffer or be dead, not much of choice but regular folks dont really suffer much more than they do under any other system unless they make themselves a threat. So bottom line. Onderon under Vaklu as a Sith puppet. Or Onderon as a charred rock devoid of life.
  9. Couldnt remember who saturn was supposed to represent. Knew it was Roman, just not which one. Turns out It's Cronos. Or has the Romans have it Roman god of agriculture I always thought it was a rather new discovery.
  10. According to GoTo it was going to happen regardless. Your missing the big picture which was the republic could not win against the Sith period. Thats why the revised Reven went to such extremes and after he recovered went off to find another way. Malak and the destruction of the Star Forge totally negated any chance of a victory by arms. If you look at the countries that capitulated quickly to the Romans, or the Germans , they got off very lightly compared to those that didnt. If the Sith are interested in conquest rather than outright destruction then a leader like Vaklu will save more people since he will choose the winning side right away.
  11. A game designer from Ubisoft's Montreal studio has come up with a new idea for a DS game that's aimed at teaching us all about how ladies work. Heather Kelley came up with the concept for the Game Design Challenge competition held at this year's Montreal Games Summit. The game, which is titled Lapis, is billed as "A magical pet adventure... And stealthy primer on female sexual pleasure." It works like this: you play with cute little bunnies on the DS's touch-screen - stroking, scratching and tickling them and so on. You can also use the microphone to talk and sing to the rabbits, and blow on their fur. If you do it right and give the bunnies enough "magical energy", they will start flying. "The way you play with the bunnies in order to win is patterned after the VARIETY of female sexual response," explained Kelley. "This is the overall pattern but it can
  12. Not really, we just prefered to go play soccer or hang out in the student lounge.
  13. But not helping Vaklu would have left the galaxy open for invasion by the Sith. So it's not so much a choice of good or evil, but a lesser evil or allowing in a greater evil by supporting a failing rebublic. Vaklu would likely sell out to the Sith right away and thus leave the planet intact and act a puppet "ruler". The republic would fight , lose and the planet would be reduced to rubble.
  14. I chose to leave mine. Half of a the class followed :D No idea, some do but I think they are talking about it as an absolute. Some schools, probably the more fundamental ones dont allow it. And they are much more likely to cause problems than the more moderate ones.
  15. Yes i agree, and that evolved from Egytian religion. There are also great parrallels between Caesar and Jesus, and even with Siddhartha (Buddha). <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I think Artenism is the first religion which claimed there was a single deity. The concepts of heaven and hell are very good form of social control. Especailly among the less learned people of the time. Also the primary reason why state and religion were intertwined until very recently (although still in some places). I see far more evidence for man creating god than the other way around.
  16. It's actually a Kendo outfit.
  17. Britain has a lot of archaic laws mostly 'cause no one can be bothered to change them. Most of the time they are just ignored as common sense dictates. Although there have been a few blasphemy cases this century. I always say happy holidays anyway. I think i'm going to start glaring at people who wish me a merry christmas.
  18. Zoroastrianism is rather interesting. Likely what the old testement evolved from.
  19. Secularism Secularists oppose religion or the religious being afforded privileges, which - put another way - means others are disadvantaged. They believe that the reduced numbers attending church show that people have chosen to give up faith. They say this underlines the unfairness of giving any special privileges or rights to faiths. Secularists are particularly concerned about education. They think that religious schools are divisive, and damage the prospects of a harmonious and diverse society. Secularists are not against the right of individuals to have a religious faith. What they oppose is special treatment for religious beliefs and organisations. They think that the protection already given by the law, including human rights legislation, should be sufficient to protect believers from assault or discrimination. You may be surprised to know that while most secularists are atheists, some secularists are actually believers in a faith. While they believe, they don't think that belief is a reason for special treatment. Charles Bradlaugh was one of the founders of Britain's National Secular Society. His political activism kept the atheist point of view in the limelight during Victorian times. Strong Secularism Some secularists go further; they want religion to be regarded as a private matter for the home and place of worship - and that the state should be blind to religion. They also seek to separate those bits of our present-day culture that originated in religion from the religions that inspired them. Secularists support: The complete separation of church and state. The disestablishment of the Church of England. The repeal of the Act of Settlement. No official representation of religions in Parliament. (Britain is the only Western democracy with such representation.) This would mean no bishops in the House of Lords. The banning of prayers from Parliament, Council chambers, etc. The ending of religious oaths as a condition of holding public sector jobs. Money given to religious organisations from public funds should not be usable for missionary work. The abolition of any special privileges granted to religious organisations. The abolition of any special protection granted to faith groups. The conversion of faith schools to community schools open to all pupils regardless of faith or lack of it. Religious education should be non-denominational and multi-faith. No religion should be taught as fact and no religion described as superior to another. Education should also cover non-religious ways of looking at the world Some secularists would prefer RE to be replaced by citizenship lessons including only brief coverage of the basic tenets of world religions. This would not exclude religious references in other subjects such as history, art etc. The abolition of "blasphemy" laws. Secularists support the protection of individual believers, but not the protection of their beliefs. Secularist groups are entirely opposed to discrimination against people because of their religious beliefs. Secularists believe that the law should not restrict reasonable and vigorous criticism of religion. Secularists believe that the law should not prevent criticism that hurts religious feelings. Secularists do believe that the law should not permit incitement to religious hatred. Secularists support legislation to outlaw discrimination in employment on the grounds of religion (or lack of it). They oppose exemptions which religious organisations are seeking to enable them still to discriminate. Abolition of the special treatment given to religious broadcasting. (seemed kind of silly posting something this long in the religion thread even though its' sort of related).
  20. Thats why your supposed to continue the thread, not go back and change what you wrote. who says message boards cant be educational. I knew wednesday was named for Odin. Actually learned it from the RuneQuest RPG.
