  1. What the ... why is this ... who are these quotes coming ... no, no more blindingly glib marketing polish. Stop. Jessica Merizan, is this you, please don't be.
  2. Oh, eh, never even seen that key, down there all longitudinal-like, let alone used it. Let me try it. Oh wow, it worked perfectly first time. And again. I like that it's the bottom-most, right-handed key. How 'bout that, numpad--while slow and dangerous behind the wheel, can still serve a purpose.
  3. keyboard sans numpad win
  4. Find and listen to a good podcast in a specific genre you enjoy, say with two or three hosts who speak well, and have interesting things to say about stuff you love. Make a drink, add music in a new tab, fluff the couch cushions--all while interjecting your own comments (even if they can't hear you, because it's a recording, from people thousands of miles away, who are probably sleeping while you're drinking and fluffing)--and it can feel just like being at party where everyone is witty and comfortable and having fun. Boom--no regrets, no hidden puke, no proximity pathogens from strangers, no carpet stains, no damaged glassware, no trips to DUI jail. Although--podcasts don't bring girls with them. Girls are nice. Maybe you should go to the party.
  5. I'm going in spirit. In my own way, not in the true event spirit of sweaty dudes with lanyards dangling over muffin-tops. Will watch Sony's conference Monday night, then just hang back and take a dip in the announcement ocean.
  6. I've hit False Neutral between gears on my bike, before. It's a really weird, quick silence, like holding your face too close above whirring sawblades.
  7. Lock incoming.
  8. It's not worth the haunting regret every day thereafter. Comfort zones are comfortable for a reason. Stay inside them.
  9. What, no, yes he is, but Porsche returning to Le Mans has nothing to do with Michael. No new information about Schumacher since April:
  10. Germans can even accomplish precise comedic tolerances. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_3u_14CXSDg
  11. Yeah well I just priced XB1 controllers ... $60 gets you a single unit, no cable, regular batteries, what. 75 frickin' dollars gets you the Play and Charge version with rechargeable batteries and a USB cable--the only option for PC. That is kinda irritating. Presumably a generic microUSB would work with the former, but the price still comes out sixes ... unless the cable that came with my Dualshock 4 is compatible ... but then I'd need to keep replacing batteries. The only deal I see is Amazon, $60.61 for the P&C model.
  12. That is exciting. I love fixing a 'dead' component just by actually plugging it in. Which game will be first ...
  13. That menu looks amazing, I also would have ordered "nose to tail". I have never had pigs ears before, how were they? Heh, that reminds me how much my dog used to luuuuuuuvvv munching on dried pig ears. Awww ...
  14. How do you boot to disk with Linux anyway. The SteamOS doesn't have a formatting thing, does it. No Windows splash page, I wouldn't know what to do with myself.
  15. The theory I saw after the study came out had to do with the brain making more memory connections because more senses are engaged reading a book, turning pages, smelling paper & print, etc than an ereader which does some, but not all, of that. Yes, not to mention a physical cue, under thumb, indicating how much content remains. PC drivers for the Xbox One controller came out today. Except you have to use a micro-USB cable, so no wireless play.
  16. Cool, yeah, I liked his bit about how when a point-of-view character drives the plot in a story, it can be subjectively worse than when the central character is more reactionary. Actually I sorta remembered it wrong, it was this ...
  17. Should never call the police unless it's life or death. Seems like the Queen's English regards entities as plural, but American business-es are literally recognized as one person. I think even Aussies do it, too, the first way.
  18. 5.5Ghz on air-cooling. I think you should return that Xeon and plunk down for the devil. I don't even like Intel and I want a Devil's Canyon.
  19. I'm on a high after this comic book thing turned out so well, so I want to see if something else I've never done is equally fun ... like a video game completely voiced in a different language. And also because samurai.
  20. Watch the Cosmos TV series and you'll change your mind there. Plus, next season, when crack shot Hayley Atwell shows up as Agent Carter, it's gonna be ultra-critical TV. Female lead, man, basically a superhero character. Can't wait.
  21. Whew, loving these images of the new S-frame InWin case today. Open-air, yet not, black with Iron Man-red accents. Only 500 will be made, $799.
  22. No way, that practice is basic human survival, sometimes the only way to get through the day. I pretty much have to ignore my hairline these days, or else I'll sink to the floor whimpering in remorse, but at least I enjoy a slim waist and strong hands. Or maybe I'm not understanding the analogy.
  23. Nevermind, pointless jape in progress terminated due to poor taste in mouth.
  24. Huh, for a budget build, that X4 and a 270X could push a 1080p single panel nicely. I just did a perusal for parts to go with it, but less than $600 is a challenge. At least when adding SSD for OS, and memory, god, memory is twice what I paid at the end of 2012. New consoles really are a bargain.
