  1. Except, you are literally as wrong as you possibly could be regarding physique. Just because you deem something to be a certain way, feminist, doesn't make it a certain way. The hulking, over exaggerated physique of males -does- bother me, and pretty much everyone I know who plays traditional fantasy/RPG type games. It's even worse when I'm playing a mage/wizard/etc who carries around 20-25 pounds maximum, but when he takes off his robes he has a Conan the Barbarian type physique. Now, before you try to refute that, let me just point out you can't, because that's how -I- feel. All that being said I would rather development time be spent on other things than trying to make ridiculous varieties of body types in an isometric RPG.
  2. That is exactly the thing we do not want in PE and I very much doubt, and I'd be almost certain that PE won't have stuff like that. Have you maybe tried Sims Medieval? But if it were a toggle-able option, you could choose to turn it off. For you, it simply wouldn't exist. Edit: Ah, so you want romances, just not those like in Bioware games. Fine, how would you want the dialogue to work? I only suggested the stronghold as a means of keeping the two things a bit separated. having a companion talk to you randomly is a novel idea, but it can get old and sometimes distracting. This brings back the argument me and others have been bringing; it takes the resources from doing the other stuff, such as writing non-romance dialogue and doing other kind of mechanics. As I have said before, I am not against romances like they were done in PS:T but I don't want romances like in Bioware games. Here's the problem, the stance you are taking on it is this: I get what I want, you don't get what you want is my ultimate goal. Here's the stance of at least some (most, if not all) people who want romances: We aren't asking for romances to be invasive, dating sims, or like what Bioware did, we want deeping, meaningful dialogue in intimate relationships that we can enjoy. Now you are saying that is unreasonable because it takes away from other parts of the game, well, what the hell do the parts you want do then? How about "Brothers in Arms"-camaraderie, the actual story and plot, deal with deeper issues - for example a game where main character is suffering from amnesia, it could deal with "Is the man more than sum of his memories?" - but PE probably won't go this route but something else like that would grand, antagonistic relationships with NPCs (not necessarely companions), a well written dialogue with NPCs and companions, dealing with the souls in the game meaningful way (as how they effect the personalities of people). Enough for you? This all sounds incredibly interesting. Here's my thing, I personally enjoy romance. I'm not saying it -HAS- to be in the game, I am saying that there shouldn't be this wall of people going, "OMG YOU WANT ROMANCE LOLOLOLOLOL BIOWARE LOLOLOLOL YOU FAP TO CARTOONS, LOLOLOLOL ETC". I'm saying they shouldn't leave it our BECAUSE of these people. Glad we could reach some sort of understanding at least.
  3. So now we start comparing romances to FPS. Good arguments. Next step - "Romances - are devil! Burn those, how propose them!" I didn't compare "romances" to anything. The logic in his post says "Do X thing, just to sell more.", that's what I challenged. Again, romances aren't, "anything". Here's the ridiculous leap you made as another anology Me: "I would streak for a million dollars" You: "You would join the porn industry for a million dollars?!?!?!?!?!?!" (Although yours is even more ridiculous).
  4. So you want the game to do anything in order to sell more? FPS games sell as well, should PE change from it's current goal to become a MW clone? I think asking for well written romance dialogues between at least a few characters of different gender is far from anything. Hyperbole is bad. On top of that, if they have to sacrifice small things for them to sell MANY more copies, then the answer is yes. Because I want sequals. Obviously there's a line, but you rather exaggerate.

  6. By saying 'we' you mean yourself and your reflection in mirror? Unfortunately a lot of the people opposed to romance believe they are the "true old school gamers" who speak for everyone else regarding how Project Eternity should turn out. Completely overlooking the flaming and condescending remarks made by these people, even terms like, "wish fulfillment" bother me, wanting romance to be a part of the social interaction in the game isn't anymore wish fulfillment than wanting a certain class, combat to work a certain way (ex; attacks of opportunity), certain types of spell mechanics, etc. The difference being they plainly said they want an incredibly well written, mature story, which to me includes romance. I guess time will tell, though.
  7. Reads like a feature list for Love Plus or School Days or other games like it. Also, rape? Really? Nah you get it all wrong. I don't suggest the option of rape being given to the PC or that I want to see it animated in any sort of way. I'm saying IT SHOULD HAPPEN in this game world (e.g. in quest dialogs), of course if it adds to the realism of the story. Rape happens a lot in the real world but it happened a hundred times more in the earlier ages. I seriously feel I'm being lied to when I see that young woman quest giver unharmed in the middle of a town that just been sacked and with all those male bodies lie around. It's just not real. While I hate all sorts of violence, a person being decapitated, feels like a worse crime than rape to me. If the other happens, there's no realistic reason for the other not to. I, at least to a small extent understand where you are coming from. (Hell, do you really think the raiders in Fallout who capture people don't do sick, twitsted things to them before killing them and then EATING them). But people are so conditioned to find rape such an abhorent crime that its even worse than death and cannibalism and I don't think that's going to change anytime soon, no matter how mature a world they want to develop. edit: dyslexia ftl.
  8. Good, neither do I. Now if we are done with being unnecessarily redundant with that statement.
  9. They already said each floor of the mega dungeon would be lore driven. If they can't reach that point I'm sure they'll cut back, or at the very least add good lore every few levels. Best of all, if it's a train wreck you can completely avoid it!
  10. Naw man, it's cool, since a single American said that we shouldn't be sorry for the rest of the internet that means all of America is a garbage heap. Because that's how logic works. GO CANADA!(This post was sarcasm)
  11. You know, I had not considered this and it's a good point. Considering Obsidian's limited budget and timetable, it might be difficult to accomodate both. How about a compromise, then? Romance for low INT characters only. Well, I do appreciate your sense of humor at least.
  12. From a single player perspective, I'd have to say FF7, however unpopular that choice is... I burned so much time into that game that it's insane. Multiplayer, the original EQ, the only MMO I actually quit playing while I still actively enjoyed it.
  13. Racist and sexist comments on the internet? That never happens! But really, apologizing on behalf of other people is something you don't do. Furthermore, as others have pointed out, I'm sure the people at Obsidian were more than aware of what a stream chat could contain before they decided to do that.
  14. I'll again voice my opinion in favor of romance options. Here are what people are saying opposed to romance options; - People want pixel porn. This is untrue for pretty much everyone who wants this, sexual intercourse implied is not necessarily a bad thing as far as I'm concerned though. In fact, I'd say it actually makes a whole lot of sense. After cleaving through dozens of waves of bloodthirsty critters, nearly getting killed several times it makes a lot of sense that a party member you are close to and you who understand your exact situation want some, "stress relief", this isn't any different than having your character be an alcoholic because of all the junk they have to deal with on their, "mystical quests". Obviously, casual sex doesn't mean romance but the point I'm trying to get across is everyone is being so hypersensitive about it anyway that it shouldn't be seen as such a big deal. - It will water down the dialogue of that companion for people who don't want to pursue the romance options. While this is true in part, making specific dialogue for lower Charisma and lower Intelligence do the exact same thing and depending on how meaningful these decisions are and if they have an actual impact on how people view you in the game (Which they should, otherwise, what the hell is the point of having them anyway?) they need to get flushed out quite a bit as well (Not as much as romances, but still). People who want -some- romance option in general aren't so niche that it's unreasonable to want some of the budget to go toward this, either. Hell, I don't personally care if they write it as a tragedy or not. I want good story and to me good story would be the option of, after having been close with a companion throughout the whole game, dealing with an incredible amount of danger, stress and excitement and growing ever closer that the option of trying to have intimate dialogue about a long term close relationship. This may or may not include references to sexual intercourse, but things such as getting married, having children, living together if there is any long term resolution to the conflict are just as important. Again, this isn't so niche that I think it's unreasonable to want a separate dialogue tree for a few characters as an option. Sure, you won't please everyone that wants romances, but you won't please everyone no matter what you do, so going, "Oh, not 100% of the playerbase will be happy with female A and female B as the only options, or male A and male B as options, better just not have it". Really, because I'm pretty sure there will be other areas where people aren't 100% satisfied.
  15. And I am hoping for deep, meaningful connections with characters that lead into a variety of close relationships, with romances being only one possible outcome if it fits the characters. Bromances and camaraderie should be other possible outcomes, and they should be equally satisfying (We have to keep supporting this view against the onslaught of "close relationship = romance" implications that some people make, you know. At least most of you aren't making the assumption that "romance = sex"). Oh, I absolutely agree with you. The reason I even felt the urge to comment in this thread though was the absolute intolerance for any other opinion than their own that some people held such as kenup and evdk (and their seemingly free reign to indirectly flame towards and make condescending remarks towards other people). I want to be able to have meaningful relationships with characters, this means friendships in addition to romances. That's why I funded the kickstarter, the deep interaction with other characters. (READ: NOT DATING SIM).
  16. Except I never cared about any of these. Just make a separate porn, nexusmods(dot)com, Do not allow any nudity and porn in the other sites and it's done. As I said the problem is that almost every file on nexus will have a nude+ pic. And because sometimes the modders themselves use nude mods on their screens, even mods that have nothing to do with that will be flagged as adult. If you don't care you sure act awful condescending towards other people sometimes. On top of that, your argument about nudity is fallacious, I played Skyrim for quite a while and I only accidentally stumbled upon one mod that had any nudity whatosever in it and it was clearly labled as having such within. Even if it were the opposite and what you said was true, then obviously someone has a desire for that then, right? But clearly, that's only foreveralone guys, right? No one married has ever looked at pornography ever, or anything explicit. I'm not even saying I want anything of the sort in PE (And as far as nudity goes, I'd really probably prefer not), however PE isn't all of a sudden all mature themes except romance and nudity because that's the way you want it. Something you apparently don't realize. Also, Obisidian trying to moderate who makes mods for what sites where is the last thing they should be putting resources into, let alone actually wanting to do. Again, if someone wants to fap to pixel art, it's their business and doesn't by default make them any more or less pathetic than you just because you say so. I however am hoping for deep, meaningful connections with characters that lead into romances. Edit: Apparently, "Biotard", "foreveralone guy" and condescending remarks are okay (as well as telling people what they think is okay and isn't,), but donkey is not. I'll keep that in mind for the future.
