It's not so much that everyone mindlessly attacks unsatisfied players. I think it's more that certain complaints crop up constantly, it starts to feel like people don't read anything or search the forums for existing topics, instead just having a complaint and immediately making a new post to gripe. You can't go back and do anything after jumping into the pit (that's explicitly stated in-game as a point of no return). That's not an issue specific to the White March content, which by the way you had already started, therefore you can't possibly have thought it was post-game content.

Idiot's Guide to RTwP?
Flix replied to Skirge01's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Good luck getting the hang of it OP. I'm going in the opposite direction, trying (and failing) to get some enjoyment out of turn-based combat so I can play Divinity Original Sin and Torment Tides of Numenera. -
I solved Hylea's and Galawain's quests without even knowing that they were the gods' quests. You can get them independently of praying to the gods. I'm not sure about Rymrgand or Berath though. Regardless, if you avoid the respective quest-givers as well as the gods, then yes, I don't think those quests will show up in your log at all.

Weapon Accuracies are bugged
Flix replied to Anaeme's question in Pillars of Eternity: Technical Support (Spoiler Warning!)
I've only been active on here for a week or two but I feel like I see this reported every single day. It's been explained as a display bug over and over again. Is this something different? That being said, I really wish they would get the numbers displaying properly because as of now the display isn't worth a damn. -
Concelhaut's hammer damage from summoning
Flix replied to Vorad's question in Pillars of Eternity: Technical Support (Spoiler Warning!)
Yeah. Concelhaut won the fight against Thaos for me. When that hammer came crashing down it was over in seconds. -
Wait, really? I was able to sneak my way through Rymrgand's quest, pass some dialogue checks to convince people to leave, and successfully complete the quest as Rymrgand asked without killing anyone. You might just need a high Resolve? That might be true. It might be that I didn't get to that line because I sent the elves through the breach, thinking I'd just plug the hole behind them with the shard. It wasn't very clear in the dialogue that I was choosing not to seal the breach.

Depending on your character you can solve Galawain's quest without any bloodshed. I think you need to have a Druid or very high Survival skill. Otherwise the best resolution is some beast slaying. In my opinion this was the most interesting and satisfying discussion with any of the gods, even if I did decide to take Hylea's path. Some sneakiness can bypass some of the bloodshed in Rymrgand's quest, but a totally bloodless resolution requires that you solve the quest in a way that displeases Rymrgand, failing the quest. Berath's is the real bloodbath. While at least half of the quest can be solved through dialogue, I never found a way to do the other half without massive slaughter.

Why don't you go ahead and do them anyway, and get the experience and the satisfaction of playing them? You can still go turn them into the gods and talk to them and learn about the main plot, even if you don't want their blessing(s). You can just tell them you already made a promise to Hylea (or change your mind, if the other gods make a more convincing case).

Honestly, the modern games I play these days like Dragon age and Witcher gives you the ability to play expansion after you have finished the game, so I just assumed I would be able to do the same here, that was a mistake. But it is what it is now, I should have read up on it before buying the expansion pass on steam. What’s done is done. Yeah, that's definitely true, and the more modern approach to expansions would preferable for veterans of the game. I just know the devs wanted to do a Baldur's Gate style expansion that added new stuff to the map (Durlag's Tower, that ice island, etc.). It seems more geared toward new players or veterans who are more than happy to start a new game for the nth time. For people who are just getting the game, or (like me) just bided their time before playing it, it's pretty great to start out with the White March already in place, as it fills out the campaign with more content. I also save constantly, so it seems strange to think that some people would have to replay hours and hours of game just to find a save from before entering the pit. Unless it's a Trial of Iron game of course. Those people are just screwed.

"To gib"?
Flix replied to AnjyBelle's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Yeah, FPS is definitely not my circle. And although I played BG and IWD I never frequented the forums. My library is all RPG and ARPG from the last 15 years, and the setting is always called "Blood" or "Gore," if the setting is even there. -
I never got the impression that the expansion was something to be played after the main campaign's end-game. In fact almost every bit of info released about The White March stressed that it was to be played in the middle of the campaign, not as an additional act tacked onto the end of the game. I totally get why people want to take their old end-game characters through the new content, but I don't know why anyone was expecting that.

The Fate of Aloth
Flix replied to Primislas's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Stories (Spoiler Warning!)
I did not have that impression of Iselmyr at all. Despite her flaws, I wanted to push Aloth towards "integration" as much as possible, although that's not really a concept in the game. I actually had in mind Rand al'Thor from the Wheel of Time books, who went through a similar thing. The closest thing to an integration seemed to be having Aloth come to an understanding with his alter ego. She seemed to fill him out where he was weak and make him more a complete person. Having him just continue to struggle and rebel against his condition seemed to be failing him thus far. And after all, the dialogue option wasn't "just give up and let her ruin your life," it was something like "you should learn to relax and try to put her skills to use." With regards to the outcome where he takes over the Leaden Key, I thought the key dialogue was at the end of the campaign, but I don't know all the contributing factors. -
Staffs: Are they for Wizards?
Flix replied to FlintlockJazz's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
I ignored staves in PoE, preferring to use ranged implements (wand/sceptre/rod) for wizards, druids, and priests. If push did come to shove and my wizard was engaged in melee, I preferred to use the spells that summoned a magical staff rather than actually keep a melee weapon equipped. -
"To gib"?
Flix replied to AnjyBelle's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
This setting is usually called something like "Gore" or "Blood" in other games. I've never seen the term "gibs" before but for some reason I guessed the meaning correctly when first loading the game, because I figured it was a shortening of the word "giblets" as was mentioned above. -
Good point. That's actually an example of a stronghold so intimately tied into the campaign that it really didn't even register in my mind as a stronghold in the same sense as Caed Nua, even though that's exactly what it is. Just for the record I don't have any problems with Caed Nua, I just want more interactivity.
