Since blizz released a new patch for Diablo 2, started playing it again for the first time ages! It's still fun as hell and enjoying it. Made me a paladin. Also started Grim Dawn again with the updates and tbh, Grim Dawn seems like what Diablo 3 "shoulda" been like. Atmosphere, grit, dark, etc. it just feels like diablo 2ish with updated graphics. Also playing wow again. Always here and there on killing floor 2. Can't wait for it to come to ps4 so I can play with most my friends. Also plants vs zombies garden warfare 2 with my son. I'm actually surprised how fun the game is lol.

Are you going to release Tyranny on GOG?
redneckdevil replied to shmerl's topic in Computer and Console
Hope it comes out on GoG but I'll be buying it off steam. Love steam and it has saved my collection for so damn long. Great sales and nice gimmicks. -
IMHO the party AI is to me fine the way it is. It's something to help on trash but for serious stuff still requires you to manage each and every party. It does the job while at the same doesn't make them "hands off". Edit-and I do mean hands off. For the most part with DA:O, u could set up the AI so that u didn't have to hardly ever manage characters.

A big thank you to obsidian! Pillars of Eternity has became part of my trinity of fav RPGs (morrowind/FONV/pillars). Great job with the game and it's MANY improvements! Waiting for last patch before I start playing thru again -
Deflection and Resolve...
redneckdevil replied to Brimsurfer's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
My personal opinion is resolve effecting deflection is more like staring down a battlefield and not being intimidated or sweeped up in the chaos. U have so much resolve that ur not freaking out with the battle but focused and in control of urself (also willpower). -
Evil Companions
redneckdevil replied to dskinner's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Actually math can be solved by violence and is done almost everyday. U need a certain amount to get whatever, u don't have total amount, so u forcibly go out and take by force the remaining amount and most likely more and u reach the solution of the problem lol. Most math equations u could apply to pyramid schemes or mafia or any type of cause and effect plan such. -
Evil Companions
redneckdevil replied to dskinner's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Actually none of those are evil with what he's done. Hollow born are born without souls, they vegetables unless u put another soul in them and then they eventually turn into "monsters". So he's basically either pulling the life support on a body that will do nothing but waste away or put down failed experiments. He hasn't actually killed any sane watchers, he's tried and seen them fail and become "broken". Lore wise, watchers are not a good thing to be because eventually if ur not strong enough u will eventually break and go "mad" like maerwald. Speeding up the process in a "controlled" evviroment is not evil, it's like putting a dog down who has rabies so that the dog won't eventually do harm and spread. Watchers can not be "undone" per se by normal means and tbh I think the one time it happened was a fluke. Since watchers will eventually go crazy, might as well test them and see if they break and get it over with so something can be done about them right then. He's a priest of a goddess of fire and warfare. Yes both are destructive but not evil, they just natural processes that u find in nature. They are tools that are used to cleansed and wipe away for something new to come up. Now how u used those tools can be evil, but the tools themselves are not, so can't really say he's evil for following the religious order. So Durance isn't a knight in shining armor "good", but he isn't evil either. -
Evil Companions
redneckdevil replied to dskinner's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
None of them good or evil, Durance included. They just whoever u want them to be. Right now, I'm playing a Mafia Barbarian named Don Micheal Corleone and so far I got Eder, Mage, Durance, and the chanter (names have escaped me atm) and they are the beginning of my "family". My guy is straight up "I'll help ya if there's something in it for me and I'll always try to find a way to get more weither thru good or bad actions. So far the party fits in with what I'm roleplaying. They ain't good guys like my monk playthru, they just mafia characters now. There's no "good and evil", only flawed characters. -
The supplies mechanic is bad
redneckdevil replied to Arnegar's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Also story mode was created specifically for those who didn't want the difficulty of playing the game and just wanted to experience the story, so all they did was lower some numbers and gave them unlimited resting to make it easier. Reread that last part. Gave them unlimited resting to make the game EASIER.... -
The supplies mechanic is bad
redneckdevil replied to Arnegar's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
I'm on break and I'll make this quick on my stance. Sorry just the whole "it's a single player game so what I do in my game shouldn't effect urs" is a piss poor excuse/argument when u have mods and console. U give us limits on something, most of us will play accirdling with those restrictions and try to beat the game overcoming those restrictions. When there is no restrictions, then we play to beat the game using those no restrictions. Also the rest mechanic, if we had unlimited test mechanics, then 1. Fights would need to be designed for nova int. 2. People are more inclined to use said unrestricted The thing is games have rules and we as players play within those rules. To those of us that don't wanna use console/mods, we play the game within the rules and guidelines it gives us. So if in the rules, supplies are unlimited then we rest spam because that's the way the game was designed. To restrict ourselves where the game doesn't, means we are playing outside that scope. This game lets everyone have their cake and eat it too. Those that want to push themselves to see how far they can go with limited resources can by being reinforced by the game. Those that wanna rest spam can, but since the game isn't designed for that but still letting you, means that if u wanna go against the grain of the restrictions u can, it just means that u have to console, mod, or take time away from completing the objective and hike back into town. I get to rest and push myself and those who wanna rest spam because they wanna blow all their spells and abilities to often can as well, they just have to take different routes. Playing the game as its intended vs playing the game with ur own vision of how things "should" be. -
Spell mastery
redneckdevil replied to Skladzien's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
I can see "why" they did it and usually I agree with their changes, but this was a disappointment. For awhile casters felt like "break glass and use in emergencies" at first but then as they got higher level really started feel AS powerful as the other classes. -
E.g. Act 1 -> Endless Paths 1-5 -> Act 2 -> Endless paths 5-10 -> White March P1 (scaled?) -> Endless paths 10-13 -> White March P2 (scaled?) -> Act 3 (scaled?) -> Endless paths 14-15 -> the Wizards tower-> Act 4 That is what I'm looking at on my playthru. I rearranged a lil bc it "feels" better to do some endless paths before wm2 since it gives the impression some time has passed between the 2 expansions. Doing the last 2 levels of EP and the Wizards tower right before the drop bc it feels like I'm tying up the remaining last loose ends so if something happens in the spot of no return, at least everything else was taken care of from roleplaying perspective.

Shadowrun: Hong Kong Kickstarter is UP!
redneckdevil replied to Sensuki's topic in Computer and Console
Has anyone completed the new content yet? Been so long that I'm replaying the vanilla game so I can know what's going on. -
Decided to buy warhammer end days game that was on sale on steam.....I can't stop playing it. It's a warhammer version of left for dead and surprisingly a lot of fun.

I'll be quite honest, I think the reason I think like that isn't due to price (I've gone without eating and smoking for a game I really had to have) but more along the lines of......there's just to many damn games out there compared to when I was younger. My backlog is what's killing most hype for me. When I was younger it seemed the flow of games was just right looking back because they weren't constantly coming out so I had a chance to devour and savor the games over a nice period of time. Now with real life as a single father and steam sales of new AND older games, tbh my library's good for years to come of playing games I've never played or beaten. I guess with a huge backlog and counting real life but I'm going to go with backlog lol, it's hard to really get excited for games when u already got all these other games ur trying to find time and motivation for.

One good thing about pillars is that I felt like I knew their was a big threat but I wasn't necessarily in a hurry to find it and vanguish it because basically the bbeg has been doing his thing already and damage is already done. So yes there's someone I need to find/stop BUT I'm not forced to be in a hurry besides losing my sanity because what else is gonna happen? Like it's not to stop an attack, the bbeg has already attacked and people are trying to live and survive thru the attacks that have been happening for years. If that makes any sense.

Tbh I like the current system but I did think of 2 things that would go a long way.....maybe. 1st is something people have already mentioned is having a place to enchant instead of on the fly. Granted enchanting anywhere has been in tabletop for many years. So either give us a place to enchant or have the enchantment take days like in tabletop depending on how great or how many the enchants are. Also to add, if it took time not just "rest screen" and such and such amount of days has passed, but more like u enchant and u keep playing and it enchants. Think of the stronghold way of doing upgrades but apply it towards weapons. Now when u find another weapon that's better than urs currently, do I go ahead and swap out for the new one and test it out and it becomes my new bread and butter or do I stick or go back to the other one. Etc etc. 2. Let us rename equipment. From weapons to armor to belts and rings.....hell even let us name the pets we gather. That way it makes it easier for the player to perceive the weapons they are enchanting are special. We have gear that we find that we could do the same enchants with their own name and story. Why not let us be able to do the same? That way instead of just the normal name for a sword with flame lash, we could name it flamestrike or fire bringer and feel like we are leaving our mark in the world.

Which games would you like Obsidian to develop the most?
redneckdevil replied to Bleak's topic in Obsidian General
I voted for all except dungeon siege and if any of them besides that one was made, do be screaming for joy. What I would really want Obsidian to make is a lovecraftian rpg set in Victorian London and using the old black and white horror films as lovecraftian villains. Characters being normal joes of different backgrounds who can be easily killed. The blob, werewolves, creature from the black lagoon, Jack the Ripper, etc etc as either lovecraftian monsters or as failed experiments of dr jeckle/mr Hyde who's trying to combine "SCIENCE!!" with Old Ones magic who's also being manipulated by Mr. Shiny....
