  1. I guess we've reached the stage of occupation forces murdering people in broad daylight in Trump 2.0. Someone from Minnesota, like @Bartimaeus I believe, may correct me on it, but this is apparently a 15 walk from where George Floyd was suffocated. Really ****ed up, ICE needs to be abolished and Nuremberg 2 should happen for ICE specifically but probably the whole US government. It was.
  2. Elon Musk already has taken his wife.
  3. The End of Stranger Things The final season is more forgettable than anything else. I don't want to rehash too much of what's already been said about it, but honestly I remember maybe 15 minutes worth of stuff out of a 2 hour movie.
  4. Man, Trump is really trying everything to bury the Epstein stuff. So the policy of the Trump regime is that the US can't hold the US president accountable for crimes, but they can kidnap presidents of other countries and put them on trial in the US? Seems pretty insane, but the whole operating procedure of the Trump regime is to act like a cartoonishly evil government from the movies so I guess this tracks. Would be kinda funny if arresting Maduro and putting him on a show trial for the trumped up nonsense of being a fentanyl kingpin fails spectacularly.
  5. Cronos (1992) - Remastered I think you can sort of file this in the same category as the Midnight Mass miniseries as a world where vampire fiction doesn't exist. Also it takes place during Christmas and New Year's, so I guess it's a holiday thing just like Midnight Mass. Anyways, I enjoyed it quite a lot. The scenes of the Chronos device remind me quite a lot of Lynch's Eraserhead sequences, and you can hear Lynch's influence throughout the film. It's very much a Del Torro film throughout, and you can see clearly how this is the guy who would go on to make Pan's Labyrinth and Hellboy.
  6. I liked Uncle from Another World as a pisstake (and DIO) but for the most part the only entertainment I get from Isekai is from the ridiculous names, like "I'm the villainess so I'm taming the final boss".
  7. The democrats' ability to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory is truly amazing. What the hell was the point of extending the shutdown if you were just going to cave anyways? Even if there is, they just threw out what leverage they had so it's doubtful it would pass. I swear, these clowns would lose a game of chess to a dog.
  8. Honestly that sounds fairly sane given the state of the world.
  9. That's rough on a good day. Between that and the gluten intolerance I guess broth or maybe unsweetened plant/nut milk is the things you can have until the gums heal?
  10. I had mine pulled before covid, honestly can't remember when. It was not a great time, hopefully you can still eat dairy or something filling in the meantime @Bartimaeus
  11. The bots are convincing me the Luddites were right.
  12. I think beyond aesthetics, Trump and his orbit view the military as a tool to conquer their domestic opponents and part of his and Kegseth's rambling pep rally is to try to prep for this. Obviously it's worth nothing that what Trump wants and what Trump will actually be able do are not the same thing, but it's credulous to pretend that Trump isn't a reactionary authoritarian trying to grab power and dominate his perceived enemies.
  13. I made a cognac sour with amaretto because I ran out of cointreau for sidecars and it works out well enough, I imagine an inverted version of Morganthaler's Amaretto sour would hot better though.
  14. I didn't realize that was the season finale. Ah well, show is still great
  15. I think the thing that strikes me the most about the beatiification of Kirk (apologies to @Malcador for stealing it, but it fits too well) is how little of it outside of the anti-reality bubble of fascists and adjacents (who think Kirk being a propagandist is based and good) actually features Kirk's own words. Kirk is probably one of the most recorded men in history but there many are columns from "respectable" liberals and centrists that somehow manage to not include a single word of his when eulogizing him. It's insane to me how suddenly we have to pretend a guy who had been showing us just who he is for a decade is someone completely different. Obviously I don't think he should have been killed (hello Kash). It's a decent explanation of how most reactionary media works, but the people who need it most extend the benefit of the doubt to people in the orbit Kirk was a part of out of ideological motivations rather than logical. The right generally and Trumpworld specifically have made particular podcasts their go-to media engagements. It'd be a surprise if he wasn't.
  16. I think it may not even last a month. Yeah, the kid is almost certainly a Groyper who hated Kirk for being a different kind of reactionary. If you look into it, left-wing extremist acts typically involve more property damage while right-wing goes for body count. I understand that it'll upset some people, but I could give a **** about broken windows or red paint when compared to people dying.
  17. As I see it there are three possibilities.
  18. For me the the irony, you know beyond Kirk thinking empathy is new age degeneracy, or his belief that shootings like his own are an acceptable consequence for the 2nd amendment, or that he was in the middle of blaming mass shootings on "the gangs" right as he was shot, is that only in death was he able to attain what he had spent his life chasing: widespread attention. And even that is going to be fleeting, Charlie Kirk won't be remembered at all within a year, he wasted his entire life being performativly vile only to leave behind a few "owning the libs" compilations as a legacy. A miserable end for a miserable man. Anyways if Charlie were still here he'd downplay the shooting and float a conspiracy. But **** that guy.
  19. I can't think of a degree to describe how pathetic it is to obsess this much and in this way over videogame characters.
  20. Dexter Resurrection - Dexter is back to being the Punisher and is feuding with an evil(er) Wall Street guy who is obsessed with serial killers and is also Peter Dinklage with Uma Thurman as an enforcer. It's ok but still has all the same problems as the original Dexter series post s2.
  21. All of Dan Da Dan s2 - so far Man, what the **** even is this show? I say that completely positively, it's wonderfully animated and certainly knows how to keep everything rolling without falling into the worst shonen tropes like 10+ episode training arcs. It's like someone made an anime of a supernatural monster of the week US series that actually fixes the inherent issues with that type of show by both being more coherent and absurd.
  22. I think the toxic positivity by AI and it's seeming inability to say the user is wrong somewhat explains the ideological fault lines behind it's use. Also AI art is derivative soulless **** that appeals to the fascist aesthetics of the contemporary right, half-baked dreams of an idealized past that never really existed.
  23. Sometimes unintentionally he's funny, but not in the way he'd like to be.
