  1. Constantine: εσύ αγαπάς το παιχνίδι That's all that matters.
  2. That cloak is fantastic! I kept it throughout my whole solo game, so I certainly got lucky. I found mine up on a certain ruin ledge in a certain neck of the woods very early. It's very handy.
  3. Blovski: Good feedback. I agree on most of it, since I can see that you have a good grasp of the theoretical framework, as it were, of all the stuff the game tries to avoid and all the stuff it tries to enable. However, in practice, there needs to be, IMO, a better flow to the movement, and all the disengagement penalties should still be there, but they should be slightly less taxing and there should be more talents and items etc that allow us to build slightly more fleet-feet characters. And you are absolutely right about the Ai not using it. if it did, we would have a much, much harder time on Path of the Damned. Like you, I like that the attributes are built around avoiding trap-builds etc, but they could have a slightly heavier weight to them, and one such way is to add accuracy into the mix, but very, very gently, mind you, like +1 Acc at 14 Perception and +2 at 18, and that's it, just as a bad example. As for item groups, I feel that lighter armours should have more options, just to make the game slightly more accommodating for "glass cannons". Lastly, I'd like to see a few more defensive, acc on self-enhancing spells for wizards built as spellswords, as it were. Some of their abilities should last longer as well, like that Arcane Veil and such - I'd rather have duration and slightly lowered abilities/spells, since re-casting a defensive thingie in combat is a big hassle/hazard.
  4. I'm actually a huge fan of Dishonored, and I'm looking forward to a sequel like a madman. I've tried Assassin's Creed and Tomb raider, but for some reason I fell hard for Dishonored. The voice acting alone is marvellous. Daud, mmm...
  5. Rheingold: Yeah, we are spoiled rotten atm. Last year was great, and this year has had a fantastic start with PoE, and soon we'll have Serpent of the Staglands and Witcher 3 (although I've never liked that game series. Don't ask me why. I have the games and I really tried to get into them. I guess it's the fixed protagonist that somehow rubs me in the wrong way, for starters.)
  6. Obsidian had the same problem in NWN2 OC, the last part, and especially the area with the undead before the inner sanctum, was clearly rushed. Artwise, there are plenty of lovely stuff aft Act II and in and around Twin Elms, but overall, the content density in Act I and II is pretty fab IMHO. Act I could have been a bit less linear and have a little more content, whereas Defiance Bay was just about right for our first city. First Fires felt a bit thin, that's true, but if you did the CK quests and the Pallegina quest it felt at least coherent and fun enough.
  7. I don't know Constantine, but I'd say it must be a matter of PoE fan-trolling, then, because he/she has lain a lot of love on the game since it was released.
  8. Sensuki: Acc. to Wiki, you definitely were trolling. And I'm pretty sure you snuck in a meta-trolling there as well.
  9. if you think this is a troll thread, then Constantine's thread is a troll thread too. It's full of fallacy, bias, and lies. At least Sensuki made factual points in his OP. Thing is, it may very well be, even if I reckon Sensuki had taken it to another level, both trolling and meta-trolling, at least in my dim-witty eyes. Here's Wiki on trolling: "In Internet slang, a troll (/ˈtroʊl/, /ˈtrɒl/) is a person who sows discord on the Internet by starting arguments or upsetting people, by posting inflammatory,[1] extraneous, or off-topic messages in an online community (such as a newsgroup, forum, chat room, or blog) with the deliberate intent of provoking readers into an emotional response[2] or of otherwise disrupting normal on-topic discussion.[3]" Grr, I was baited hard. Still not sure if fallacy, bias and lies qualify as trolling per se.
  10. Apparently, I'm too old to play this game: Guess what tone the post/thread was made in. And is it really funny even then, I mean, having a go at... Hmm, wonder whether this vitriol or bile is for real this time or fake. It's still trolling and spamming to a semi-oldie like me. It's tiresome, at least, that much I'm sure of. I wish I had the iron will of Stun when he for instance debates Gromnir, but sadly I don't.
  11. Let me see if I get this straight: You bothered replying at length, and with a whole thread at that, on a single Obsidian forum member's opinion on a RPGCodex review about PoE, which you yourself posted on the very same forum? Even weirder, this Darth Roxor fella never replies in person, instead you act as his mouthpiece, reminding me of Mouth of Sauron: Moreover, why on earth do you have some carte blanche to act as RPGCodex mouthpiece on the Obsidian forums? You very often refer to that community, but when confronted you deny it? I know that you are disappointed in the game, Sensuki, but the posts on your behalf as of late, well they certainly border on mega-trolling on the Obsidian forums. Your contributions during the beta is legendary, don't burn all the bridges here by acting silly, please. And our moderator Tigranes said there should be only one thread going on that RPGCodex review (one too many, if you ask me), so this will be closed, JFYI. http://forums.obsidian.net/topic/78620-the-truth-behind-words-in-rpg-codexs-1-review-for-poe/?p=1676744 Cheers!
  12. The chick in the dungeons diddling all the undead. No beating around the bush there - describing it to the tee, I see. I laughed out loud.
  13. Thanks for all the great replies and suggestions, guys! I just came to think of one thing that is far too underused in PoE, without any real reason for it, and that is ranged spells when you try to sneak up on a group of baddies. It happens at some very rare encounters, like those big dank spores using their charm ability and a certain boss or two, casting spells from afar, if you have escaped and try to get back into the fight. It would be a simple way (not requiring any real AI) to keep us players on our toes. Imagine sneaking into some Defiance Bay manor, only to be greeted by a panicky fireball from a distance (from the fog of war/shadows), just because your stealth was a bit sucky.
  14. scrotiemcb: Great post. I'd really like to keep engagement, disengagement and flanking in the game as well - and your proposed solutions are a nice step in the right direction. I'd really love to see polearms and such get more oomph out of them as well.
  15. *Bump* Almost 800 posts now. Let's make a record that stands the test of time! It's the longest thread I've seen on these boards IIRC. Given its content, isn't that ironic, at least a little?
  16. Peddroelm: Thx! It comes at a late level, though. Ouch. You certainly need weapon(s) as an alternative. EDIT: I saw your edit. I need to try out the monk - one of the few classes I haven't tried since PoE was released. I made one once during the beta, and it was fun, but like one level (5?), and it was pretty overpowered back then.
  17. MadDemiurg: I haven't tried the retaliation build myself, so I don't know what other tricks it has up its sleeves, but you are right of course. You need to occupy or somehow disable them from knocking you down and cast their spells.
  18. knownastherat: The only thing like that I've seen is a barbarian retaliation build. Try googling it.
  19. I am sorry but again, not really. Its doable with exceptional weapon. Yes, with a weapon sure, but I was talking about fists, as in Unarmed, or are they accuracy-boostable as well? EDIT: gkathellar: Where do fists get accuracy bonuses from?
  20. Mr.Magniloquent: How eloquently you made your case with those lists! I certainly was a defender for the idea of engagement and disengagement, but having played the game so much now, I certainly see all the problems you mention. If I may, I could sum up all of your great lists in one sentiment: It sucks some of the fun out of making certain types of builds and doing combat in certain ways, and in my mind, this is a game that needs that to be ultra-fun, since it's made for replayability, or at least, to me.
  21. Pulling this off with a monk is extra neat, since you can't enchant fists for some extra accuracy and such. I'm impressed.
  22. knownastherat: I certainly only know my way of doing it, and it also included using triple-summon figurines, but I relied heavily on confusion, toing and froing, and now and then having Thalos himself finishing off his beloved Woedica titans: http://forums.obsidian.net/topic/78425-wonderful-game-with-a-few-bugs-and-yes-triple-crown-solo-is-definitely-doable-spoilers/?p=1673487
