  1. Hmm, but some kind of law and order is what sets us apart from animals and primitive pecking orders. We do live in a civilization, no? And there's always the issue of moral responsibility, compassion, and... *SCREECH!* Hang on! This is the internet. What on earth was I thinking. Here's the place where people hide in anonymity behind their computer screens and go all ape again. Carry on! *Munches popcorn*
  2. Arkane Studios are extremely talented. They create fantastic game atmospheres, an art in its own right! Sarex: I know, I know... and, well, I lied. I can wait, as there will be so many great games coming out this year and the next. Pillars of Eternity being the pinnacle, probably. P.S. There aren't many games, where you can sneakily follow a bulky guy that hauls it out, spit a booger and whistles while he's taking a leak, and then just slit his throat and let him gurgle in a pool of his own urine. Priceless!
  3. Nah. I just meant my avatar here, unfortunately. But there are some mighty witches in Dishonored, and playing one would be a dream come true. There are powerful female assassins too, not too mention their queen and the aristocracy in general. Still, Dunwall is pretty much a man's world. EDIT: Btw, no scanty dresses for most of the powerful female characters (except a certain witch, I won't spoil that, though).
  4. Just to honour Dishonored and to spook Majek a bit, I've returned as a seemingly benevolent Granny Rags. Gosh! I can't wait till Dishonored 2. It will be such a treat, I just know it!
  5. Hehe, insane for life, here I come! And so per definition it can't be cheating, it's just part of what makes this game fun (to me, at least). And for the record, Dishonored is like the game that made me like achievements. Usually, I was just like you, I gave them a big shrug, but some of the cheevos in this game are superfun to try to get. P.S. My last avatar here was even Granny Rags as a young woman, so I am a fan. It does show, huh? Scary fact: I have well over 100 hours invested in Dishonored. That's more than I have in Skyrim. If any of you guys need any guidance when playing Dishonored, I'm your go-to guy.
  6. Let me see now... You're telling a game that it shouldn't have a feature that is central to the plot and its game system? You do know that Dishonored is not Thief4? Dishonored is literally steeped in dark witchcraft and the Outsider. it belongs there, and it really did contribute in making that a sweet and fun and successful new IP.
  7. Thanks for your super-quick reply, and good riddance, WS!
  8. It depends on which of my playthroughs. I did one only Muscle and Steel or what it was called, and then you were only allowed to use Blink 1. No other magic at all. At the highest difficulty, that was far from easy, and I got the achievement. And blink is of course used in a few of the City Trials challenges as well. P.S. I loved Dishonored so much that I even did a Dishonored playthrough in Skyrim via a mod.
  9. I just got Malassa's Blessing (Dark Magic). Am I right in assuming it permanently replaces my need for casting Whispering Shadows incessantly?
  10. I'll be the one barging in far too late and I'll be partying like it's 1999, coz that's when South Park's popular feature-length film Bigger, Longer and Uncut was released. Btw, that sounds like a knackwurst sausage.
  11. It's great on both accounts! After my sneaky playthroughs, I always go for action ones, and then it feels so much more satisfying to go on a killing spree. I've even gone on a serious cheevo-hunting in that game. Some are pretty hard to get, and I've done all those challenging maps in that special City Trials dlc. You may call me an expert.
  12. Ideally, you are right. If the system is fun and challenging in itself, a balanced one could be a game working for centuries, like chess. But if done bad, everything gets bad across the board. No loopholes or outcroppings to take hold of to salvage the gameplay.
  13. There is one exception to this rule: Gollum, as in "Sneaky little hobbitses"!
  14. I'm a bit of a masochist when it comes to games like Dishonored. It should be tough and sneaky. I was going for all those clean hands and no kills and no alarms rung and nobody even noticing I was there kind of playthroughs. I try to immerse myself in the game, headphones and all, just for a big dose of escapism and thrill. I play them slow and thoroughly. I like horror adventures as well, even the simple point and click ones. If Dead Space came in a rogue-like, sneak by them all and discover horrific truths, I'd buy that in a heartbeat. Given all this, I think this new variant of Thief may suit me quite fine, but it could be a dud too.
  15. Tigranes: Holy Moses! You literally garrotted Garrett! I'm indeed taking a risk, but at least it looks neat. If it is anywhere near Dishonored, it certainly will do.
  16. It looks fantastic. I tend to gamble on games now and then (like over at Kickstarter). I took a risk and pre-ordered Dishonored as well, and it was great. However, Bioshock Infinite, was not that great.
  17. Another Matt Sheets anagram, but now of a different gender: Tess Hamett
  18. Fair enough! And as for "exclusive content", well, that usually ends being exclusive the first day it's released or after one month, tops!
  19. Just to be clear, exclusive things when buying a game in a store, I'm absolutely fine with. It just doesn't fit the Kickstarter model well, as it's a matter of backing a project. Let them rewards be creative, but not exclusive content (unless it's like server tower/team games or something). Any backer should be able to back the full game, full stop. (as that is not the same as buying it.)
  20. Hmm. The exclusive class reward keeps bugging me. It doesn't feel Kickstarter-y, just greedy- Look what happened to Deathfire.
  21. Indeed. Monte is having a field day!
  22. At the end of this month Thief comes out, and I just got a pretty decent deal on it. It's Steam third party DM no matter which way you turn it, so instead of buying the Master Thief edition from steam for like 40 quid. I went to Green Man Gaming with a 25% voucher (just google it, and you'll get that one). Thing is, they already had 10% off, so in total I got the price reduced to 22 quid, half the asking price of Steam. Yay! Btw, I'm really looking forward to this game, since I adored the Thief games of yore, and I'm a fan of Dishonored as well. This will be what I play after I've finished Might & Magic X.
  23. kirottu: I know what you mean. In DAO, it always felt cheap and slightly weird to shower your companions with weird gifts. It was like a fetch quest mini-game for your companions, and then all od the sudden, after some questions about a companion's childhood or background and its grudges and grievances, a "time for sex"-bell rang loud and clear! P.S. Dragon Age Origins is still a darn good game, despite its shortcomings, like too distinct quest branches, a tedious horde of darkspawn and occasional off-romances. So, enough of the hatred. Bioware quickly realized that DA2 was a rushed mistake, and now they try to better themselves.
  24. Exactly the same thing happened to me! I even went in there, found all four bloody pages, and then nothing. So, I got that disc together and returned, but nothing. It's the paladin promo quest indeed. And I'm like 56 hours into the game, and it just keeps going. For a CRPG that is not an ARPG like D3, this is the longest in quite a while. It's true, Keyrock! I feel young again!! My veins are filling up with true CRPG neatness!
