  1. Yeah. For any Aussie, for instance, the British Isles feel just like, well, islands. I have driven Brisbane-Sydney, Sydney-Adelaide, Adelaide-Alice Springs, Alice Springs-Darwin, etc., quite a few times, so London-Hadrian's Wall, seems more like a high school excursion. There is a reason why I have more mileage on Qantas than on Australian highways, that's for sure.
  2. In my first playthrough, I'll scrape bones and suck the marrow out of every corpse. Each and every item will be crammed into my planet-buster of endless invo. I have no idea what they are good for, but in they'll go. I'll be the ultimate junk hoarder.
  3. Bring good walking shoes! London is a feet killer. I reckon, you should have a ride up that huge wheel on the Thames (unless you have vertigo). And Westminster Abbey is always nice (the wing flaps of history and all that). British Museum alone takes a whole day (don't miss the mummies and the Sutton Hoo finds). Pop into all kinds of shops and markets that interest you, loiter in parks with ice cream and lollies aplenty, feed the pigeons, shout out your social justice at Speaker's Corner, then end the day in a pub.
  4. This party is for the fourth playthrough, four being the unlucky number in Japan (meaning death, same word for four and death there): Six Death godlike monks! Expect gleeful whimpering, epiphanous war cries of pain, and just all around howls of hair-pulling hatred of anything living. Party member 1: "My body is ready!" Party member 2: "Flaying is believing!" Party member 3: *Silently and solemny wearing a bloodstained shirt, embroidered with the words "flagellation by proxy"* Party member 4: "Please! Iron out my bugs!!" Party member 5: "Balls to the wall!!" Party member 6: "Hurt me! Mess me up, real bad!!"
  5. Nice idea, Sensuki! I think it will be released December 13th 2014, for some weird numerological reason: 12-13-14. And Obsidian seems like the kind of guys defying superstition and the number 13. EDIT: Hmm, that's a Saturday - I guess I'll have to settle for 12-12-14 then. :/
  6. yeah, there's that, and also their willingness to take more risks, and also don a more indie-like cloak when making the games themselves.
  7. Ubisoft, on the other hand, has of late (in 2014) surprised me in the other direction: They do actually deliver on their PR-selltalk quite a bit. M&M X, Child of Light, Valiant Hearts, etc.
  8. Not to be brusque or anything; but immersive marker circles around friendly PC and NPC units as well as enemies don't make sense at all. They need to be clear and visible and actually stand out to fulfil their purpose, anything else would per definition be confusing. If it was integrated and fitted the graphic style, you'd have tiny intricate trinket chains around units or perhaps rope or vines, and then poof, all functionality is goners.

  10. bronzepoem: You misunderstood. I love the stun scream, but I don't find their overly panting and flabbergasted-after-ten-pints-of-ale-stance very fitting.
  11. Hey! Dirty Fighting is in! I always loved that term, heh. Also, those Skuldr seems to be tough buggers. One whelp did a stun scream on the party, and with hears ringing the affected party members stand there...and heave and barf??? I reckon that stunned-by-horrible-sound need to be changed into something more less cringworthy, if possible.
  12. After having watched PE in higher res in that PCGamer-vid, I see now that it is only the lighter wood panels that are the problem. The dialogue wooden UI (for instance seen at the caravan master's place) has perfect contrast and nice grimy wood. It's the lighter ones when shopping items (on the item plates themselves) and some lighter ones in the inventory that makes the text harder to read.
  13. Probably a find fuelled by wishful thinking, but on that wooden board where the classes are lined up, I just noticed that there are room for seven more classes on that, so perhaps the expansion will give us seven new sweet classes! *Derpy reasoning, hide under a blanket, dreaming again*

  15. I don't mind purple or bright pink per se for lighting effects, magic effects, glowing apparatuses in evil wizard labs, etc. Heck, it's in several of my all-time-favourite games! It's just that it has been used to death, so I'd prefer some variety and perhaps a toned down use of it. I even like the colour purple, heh.
  16. I have to disagree. When Skyrim came out, they bragged about how everything kept moving and playing along while convos were taking place, and it was not very nice at all. To me at least, it distracted me for what was being said, and graphically, you had bobbing helmets (that didn't come out right), swaying poles, and fluttering textures of all kinds, disturbing me big time.
  17. Oh, we're ranking D&D CRPG starts, are we? Here goes... Some of my absolute favourites: -NWN2 MotB - the best one, ever, IMHO (I know some people said that a few fights in the burial mound were a bit simple, but overall, and adding Mulsantir, it's the best, hands down. Others aren't even close. -NWN1 HotU - Who don't want to start stripped, and then like an inn and a cellar later, you're on your way down into the Underdark? -Dark Sun - Shattered Lands - A true gladiator arena start, prison breakout, neat and nice in an underestimated setting -BG - pretty boring, I also hated Imoen -PST - love the writing, but far too much toing and froing in-between body parts, just to get to the heart of the matter -BG2 - pretty decent lab, and nice city just outside (one of the better ones) -IWD2 - quite decent, with perhaps one fetch quest too many, but still better than the hack fest that follows (which is nice and dandy in its own right, but not without any breaks and story and what not) -NWN2 OC - Better than its reputation, if you do the tutorial fair as well -NWN2 Storm of the Zehir - Nice ship-wreck start, boring beach brawling, and the first town looked nice, but was just a hub for doing jungle stuff and early encounters with super-tough yuan-ti -IWD- perhaps the worst of them all

  20. Zed: I agree. I posted something similar in Sensuki's thread, this is what I meant by "wooden texture blending" - they blend and bleed into each other too much. You need better contrast and such, otherwise, very nice stuff for the UI.
  21. Wow! Yeah, those are the lights I meant, and indeed, I have just recently upgrade my screen to a bigger LCD-one. I had no idea how you could figure that out just from that, but yes on my screen that looks almost neon lights-bright and garish.
  22. No, not the floor glyphs (although too bright, perhaps), but literally huge magical "bonfires" on top of pillars in Giantbomb peek vid.
  23. Sensuki: OK. Then, yes, some are sorta out of place and a bit "bland", to put it harshly. I might add a little nitpicking of my own: about those pillar lights in that puzzle: They were too similar, too bright and somehow over the top.
