  1. Neither could I. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Guys, just get some decent headphones (anything priced above 30$ will do). j/k. I can understand you didn't notice the low audio resolution, but the mono output is easily recognizable by anyone who's got both ears in good health (it's really UN-immersive).
  2. I still want Coruscant. :] But I really agree. What's the meaning of a galaxy out there, if we have to visit the same planets every time? For instance, what about the Adegan system, where lightsaber crystals come from (heard a lot about, but never actually set foot on it in any game)? Or the zillions other planets with different and unseen climates/features/races out there?
  3. Whether I agree/care or not, this post surely is one of the best I've read in a long, looong time, and for a number of reasons. To promptly vanquis any lingering doubts, I agree with the post. Star Wars is a lot about its soundtrack (just try imagining it without its original ST, but with some mediocre one, and think of what would become of the 'magic'), and the soundtrack element is even stronger in SW games. Ever since Sw games begun to be released, LucasArts realized that spamming the movies' OST over and over wasn't feasible, and had to invent some original, fitting, SW-like tracks to make their games deliver the same feelings the movies do (sadness, peace, epic-ness, rage, passion, struggle, exaltation and so on). And they managed to, with most (all?) games. I think k2 is a good game, taken per se. But, we cannot overlook some facts: it carries a 'heavy' license (Star Wars, anyone), it is the sequel to one of the most acclaimed Sw games in history, it is developed by a team who's always released top-quality gamesm it's been one of the most anticipated games in the last year, it's got a huge fanbase which they were sure would have bought the game blindfolded on its release. These facts given, my rating of k2 really drops deep, very close to the pits where rip-off's lurk, and your post makes it fall even deeper. I mean, why did they have to save on audio quality? Why didn't they release a DVD version (4CD are a real pain in the ***, IMO)? How could they make a sequel which is technically inferior to its predecessor, althoug using the same base technology? I'm sorry if I went somehow OT, my 1.99cents anyways. Stoo.
  4. Yeah. No more Dantooine. Well, some cameo or small visitable area would still be nice, just to let us see the rebuilt Jedi Enclave and stuff, but no more Khoonda plains or silly caves please (those being featured in two games already is painful enough, they were great in the first game, but when I saw them in k2, I was kinda upset... I mean, what's with recycling areas?). Also, Coruscant would be very nice as the next iconic 'urban-planet', instead of the uber-abused Nar Shaddaa.
  5. Revan, or the Exile, ot them both.
  6. - Well, maybe it's just me, but grinding helpless hordes of Sith-wannabes ain't much fun (just boring/repetitive), as long as they don't pose a decent threat/challenge. - It's ok being a very powerful Jedi/Sith in the end of the game but, again, that should be aimed to defeating some MAJOR threat/opponent. - AI Scaling: that's the point. Opponents should spawn in number and difficulty related to the PC's level (and diff settings, of course). well IMO anyways.
  7. - Most obviously, although I want the game to be released asap, I'd like them to take their time to develop, test and QA the game, so that the released product is an unquestionably great game. - Even more obviously, a fitting, sense-making, game ending would be greatly appreciated. - Less 'solo' missions, and the few remaining, more sense-making (not just random and with little/no explaination). - A new, up-to-date game engine (hl2 would be a nice one -> hint hint hint LucasArts!). - A larger party members pool, with the option to ditch one to recruit another one in such pool, which the 2 active party members are chosen from. - Again, ranged weapons made competitive. - I'd like HK-47 (and my beloved Brianna, if that's feasible) back. - Larger areas (like the ones in k1). - As usual, new, original planets (specifically: no more jungles, no more Korriban, no more Nar Shaddaa, no more 'recycled' planets/areas) (more specifically: I'd like to see Hoth or another snowy planet, Coruscant woul dbe great as planet-city instead of Nar Shaddaa, Ossus would be a great replacement for Korriban, Corellia is what I've ever wanted to visit). - More planets (10 or so). - A great plot in its wholeness (like k1 was), with no unfinished matters or hinted-and-ditched parts. - More character classes, prestige classes, feats, force powers. - More character portraits/races/models to choose from. - More customizable clothes' appearance (colours, shape, and stuff). - Call me mawkish, but I want romance back, just like in k1. - I'd appreciate the 'return to Ebon Hawk' thingie to be back. - New, better designed, user-friendly HUD and character/inventory/skills/etc sheets. well, that's it for now. EDIT - I forgot on first replying, but well: NO MORE, meaning NEVER EVER AGAIN, an NPC should interrupt my combat when I'm on the winning side. SPOILER HERE:
  8. I'm not sure, but: >>>POSSIBLE SPOILERS<<< Did anyone else find combat WAY too easy, even on hard difficulty level? Playing as a Jedi Watchman (LS of course), I just finished the game and fought through all the bad guys, and none of them could ever bring my health below 75%. BTW, weren't such 'boss' opponents weak, plain and personality-less (sum1 plz gimme Malak back!!!)? Also, after I got Force Wave, I could easily dispatch tons of opponents (non-boss ones) just by running around and getting surrounded by them all (up to 20, or more), and then 'spamming' wave after wave. The ones who didn't get killed by my waves, were stunned anyways and promptly done by my party members. Also, I find Force Enlightment kinda overpowered (using it, I ran through the last part of the game with more than 60 AC - making me virtually untouchable, unless my opponents scored a natural 20 on their to-hit roll).
  9. Onderon - I had great expectations for this one, and I would have liked to explore Iziz some more (I'm a big fan of the 'kotor' comic series). Dxun - way too similar to Kashyyyk (k1), but I appreciated it. Telos - rather plain, but liked it nonetheless. Dantooine - fine, if only it wouldn't be 95% like it was in k1. Korriban - same as Dantooine. Moreover, it featured just a few areas. Peragus II - Possibly the only one I kinda enjoyed playing through. Nar Shaddaa - fine, but I'm getting sick of it. NS appeared in 90% of SW games... If a 'city-planet' has to occur, how about Coruscant, next time? Malachor V (or whatitsname) - terrific. I hated it. Overall, the areas seem to me to have a total 'size' much lesser than in kotor1.
  10. Give me a Handmaiden anytime.
  11. Jedi Watchman (or Sith Assassin) actually is an all-round, well-balanced, extremely-flexible class. Good combat skills, good force proficiency, good feats choice, balanced stats. Also, Watchmen/Assassins are good enough at almost everything: persuading, intimidating, lying, stealth, crafting, and so on. Moreover, you can 'customize' their growth more than the other classes, so you could have a Force-oriented or a combat-oriented Watchman, a sneaky or a charismatic one, and so on. My favourite class. EVAH. -peace-
  12. How not to agree? :| Besides, you can't really tell until the game is actually out.
  13. I see you're enough into editing swkotor2.ini, and since I had this same very issue (not a real bug IMO) here's how I fixed it: you might notice that there actually are TWO Fullscreen= lines, under [Display Options] and under [Graphics Options]. One has value 1 and the other one has value 0. Just edit them so that both have 1 value. The same applies to Height, Width, RefreshRate and a few other lines as well. good luck, stoo edit - whoops, didn't notice this has already been replied. Sry.
  14. Using notepad, ultraedit, wordpad or a plain text editor of your choice, edit swkotor2.ini (which you can find in kotor2 main folder), scroll to the [Graphics Options] section and add this line, at the bottom of the section itself: Disable Vertex Buffer Objects=1 This worked great with me, and also improved framerate in many other locations. Good luck.
  15. Err. I feel lame (I knew it was to prevent the party from following b4-d4 into the mainframe, but I expected that the party would be automatically 'restored' after that 'mission', so I didn't think of doing that manually). Well, thanks all anyways.
  16. *TELOS SPOILER WARNING* On Telos, after using the protocol droid (which is a 'solo' mini-mission) to access Czerka' mainframe and download compromising data, I found myself stripped of my party, which I had before controlling the droid. Afterward, I couldnt find my party anywhere, and I also had to defend the Ithorian Compound from Czerka' mercenaries all on my own, which was a tough and painstaking trial (did it nonetheless). I thought this might be ok, but it was 'weird' because there had not been any hint about my two party members leaving me alone. anyone else? any fix? thanks all, stoo
  17. #1 - So far Telos is the only planet I've visited, but same issue here. Swoop racing worked fine the first time only, and every other swwop race after that had my swoop hovering up high right below the roof, unable to hit boosters, mines or walls. Fazing. #2 - I tried to press the right button during initial coutndown, and bug #1 never occurred again. Tho, it seems I can't win a race. Even if my time is best one, I am always being told 'what a nasty spill and bla bla bla... you have to finish the race bla bla bla'. More fazing. edit - Just a thought: what really drives me mad is that swoop racing worked just fine in K1, and I wonder how can programmers regress from already achieved results (and the more, since the game engine hasn't changed!). Sorry for this little rant.
  18. how about choosing your pc's race during the initial creation process? is there anyone who would like to play as a specific race?
  19. i guess that's the way most (99%) mmorpg go... actually, unless i find some full-rpg server (where xp is gained by ROLEPLAYING, and mobbing is utterly dangerous, and death is quite often permanent), i never play mmorpg's, because in the end they all get down to kill/craft until you reach top level, then you create another pc. that's why i'm not into swg. it came too late, i already had been disappointed by too many mmorpg's to pick the genre up again and try another one. moreover, it's too expensive for a ronin student mercenary like i am.
  20. quote: 'Is it just me, or did he seem to imply that the press would be receiving more info soon?' yeah, i think that is what he said. and not for the press elite only, seemingly. see below... quote: 'while we haven't officially announced an on sale date yet, we will have something to share with you in the next couple of weeks.' quote: 'We'll have more of these types of posts on the state of the game in the coming weeks from different members of the team.' -stay tuned-
  21. i dont want to open a brand new 3d, so i'll continue here about new force powers. how about the coolest thing force push can do, that is, force pushing enemies into pits or force prodding them over landmines? not to say about those force+saber combo, like force impale (coolest move in the whole galaxy). in case no1 notices, i'm taking jedi academy as reference. i guess that game has the best force/saber system around.
  22. about the release date, all the online shops i checked out were (proudly) displaying early december release dates (dec-3 at best, dec-12 at worse)... such release dates aren't always 100% reliable, but they sometimes hit the mark. ps - i am sorry for previous OT post. deleted it.
  23. quote: 'PW NWN with laserswords' yeah, that's exactly what a mmo kotor would bd. non that i dislike the idea...
  24. I've read somewhere that they have included quickkeys for weapons. What about some more old school quick key feature (f1-f12, or #1-#0), where you can assign a power/item/action to a given quick key (instead of having to pause the game each time and scroll to the desired feature)? This might as well come in addition to the k1 'scrolling' system.
