  1. Is this how QAnon got started? Danger, Will Robinson. Danger.
  2. I'm not sure it's about education. The trend I see is that the Republican party has spent a couple of decades indoctrinating its followers into distrusting the mainstream media. Lacking any other sources of reliable information, they naturally migrate toward (mostly unproveable) conspiracy theories that are easy to package and popularize. Perhaps QAnon was inevitable? I wonder if the fix could be to create reliable information sources that lack procedural bias; just relate the facts for both sides? Maybe we need an AI political bias detector?
  3. Seeing that Snowpiercer is essentially a Generation ship concept, how long until we get an actual Generation ship series on TV?
  4. Well, the Geneva convention should apply to all signatories, even if they don't follow it religiously. Not sure what else you'd call them that isn't a political trigger word. Internment camps can be just as charged.
  5. You can probably trace the need for concentration camps back to the Thirty Years War, when the practice of releasing POWs without ransom at the end of the conflict became enshrined in the treaty language. Prior to that prisoners were often killed, enslaved, and/or held for ransom. Anyway, concentration camps (and refugee camps) are really a logistical necessity.
  6. The big question for me is whether commercial space exploration will have access to nuclear energy.
  7. Every President does this, and they often contain a few controversial picks. Steve Bannon, for example. Technically, he's just releasing his own swamp monsters back into the wild. What I would like to see is a way for Congress to override a pardon.
  8. "As I conclude my term as the 45th President of the United States, I stand before you truly proud of what we have achieved together. We did what we came here to do — and so much more." -- DJT
  9. Funny how McConnell is being more assertive now about Trump. If the Republican congress critters had show more backbone in December, the sack of the Capitol building might never have happened.
  10. Wasn't Hitler an artist and an author? Yeah, humanities. I suppose I just satisfied Godwin's Law. Hurrah.
  11. My understanding was the naming was intentional to get more vikings to settle in Greenland. False advertising: some things never change...
  12. Didn't we already go through an iconoclasm last year?
  13. I wonder if we are about to go through a far right scare that is akin to the red scare of the 1950s? They're worried about an inside threat among the national guard troops now.
  14. Well it certainly does work well with certain puns, so there's that. Right now it's just kraken me up.
  15. 'Dungeons & Dragons' Series in the Works With 'John Wick' Writer (Exclusive)
  16. It's enough to make my eyes moisten.
  17. In the end a pretty good game. Hopefully Mahomes is okay, although a concussion could keep him out.
  18. Except... his reputation is as a bad actor on both sides. Just more misdirection by Fux noise.
  19. Music producer Phil Spector of COVID-19 He caught it while serving time in prison for 2nd degree murder. https://www.tmz.com/2021/01/17/phil-spector-dead-dies-81/ Not sure how to feel about that.
  20. Apparently Seattle is getting an NHL team. I've never really followed the sport before so I'm not sure how to feel about that.
  21. Did they change the taunting rule in the NFL? Because it sure seemed like there was a lot of that this year.
  22. Easy access to student loans is what's wrong. It creates a positive feedback loop that endlessly inflates the cost of college. Maybe they need to provide free (or cheap) community college, then require high marks from there to attend a university?
