  1. It wouldn't be THAT hard to implement. I do have experience with coding actually, I made some of the first mods for the game. I am a horrible programmer, but at least I understand what I'm reading when I look at the source code. They would just need to add in some if statements in the code where the combat log messages are determined and create the new options in the options menu. A few days work or something maybe less - worth it to make the damn thing readable.
  2. Just need a filter so you can choose what lines you want. I don't use auto-pause so I've never seen that before haha
  3. Nah it uses the HoW/BG2 ones. It can't use the IWD1 ones because they do not support dual wielding. IWD:HoW doesn't have dual wield so the BG1 avatars work. My IWD playthrough had BG1 avatars. IWD:HoW was built off the BG2 engine anyway, so Sneak Attack works in HoW.
  4. Reasons to not play BG1:EE - it was a bad EE overall, new UI is bad, it converts the game to the BG2 engine. BG1 had better avatars, and the game was balanced around the stock classes, weapon proficiencies and spells. Screws up the spawning system. Bunch of other minor reasons, but those are the main ones. Oh, new characters and mod are pointless/terrible. Reasons to not play BG2:EE - I already have a perfectly good modded BG2. Do not want to spend $20 on something that I already have. Reasons not to play IWD:EE - converts the game to BG2 engine, once again messes with balance/systems. Uses BG2 avatars, when 1PP mod for IWD1 ports back in the much better BG1/IWD1 avatars. UI is see through and not full screen. Oh yeah, zooming in below source resolution on 2D art is retarded.
  5. I actually think 90% of the talents are pretty awful overall. I would never pick hardly any of them.
  6. No it won't because sometimes one attack can create five different lines. And I mean filter out messages, like I don't care that BB Fighter is healed 2 Endurance by Constant Recovery every few seconds. I don't care about reading if people are engaged - stuff like that.
  7. Yeah it could be - they could move it to the left of the screen and add a filter where you can filter out certain messages. Then it would be better.
  8. It could be done while still showing the currently selected character targeting reticle, doesn't have to revert to a default circle.
  9. I have been cheating in items via the additem command to check for added unique weapon art, when I equipped two unique flails on my PC, the flails went weird colors, like see through orange. When I moved one of the flails from equipped to inventory it crashed the game. Here is my crash log, output_log etc http://www.upload.ee/files/4339273/2014-11-03_050214.rar.html
  10. I don't like those, and they have improved the stat displays in the inventory. However since pretty much everything else about the EE's are worse, I play the originals.
  11. Just wanted to update this Went through and checked again - ALL swords now have unique models. Dimitri/Char Artists have been going through and adding variants. Examples
  12. Obsidian decided to use really light grass colors tinted with baked lighting - you will notice that BG1 in particular ALWAYS uses dark green for grass because it contrasts better with the selection circles. I think Obsidian planned to only use blue selection circles, but some of us complained non-stop until they added green ones in too
  13. RPGCodex avatar, and the 'bro' is me dressed up as a wigger from a couple years ago, because stuff using a serious photo. Some people on the Codex made me some youtube thumbnail - this one was funny, but a bit over the top
  14. It's been like that since v257 lol But yeah I don't use the combat log in PE either, it's completely pointless. Too much stuff happens, too many lines paste at once, it doesn't update properly in the new version and it's on the far left of the screen. It couldn't possibly be worse.
  15. Ah right, I always try and tune my monitor to 2.2 Gamma / Natural colors.
  16. Do you have a TN panel ? Since they are only 6-bit, they can only re-produce ~262,000 colors accurately, and dither the rest. Most IPS/VA panels are either 8-bit or 10-bit so they can do 16.7 Million+ natural colors. IPS and VA panels with better contrast ratios don't suffer as much from those problems. TN panels also can't do several bright colors properly (such as orange/red).
  17. You guys should have an Infinity Engine game playthrough as well - it would help ground your experience more as you are in fact developing an IE game successor. I recently did a full playthrough of Icewind Dale with the 1PP mod, and it really helped give me perspective on many of PE's issues. Should probably hand out optimized partys to the new players though
  18. I don't think we'll actually be seeing much in the next patch. Obsidian said they're taking the time off to play the game this week (good idea) and then focusing on bug fixing - so I'm guessing the next patch will focus on bug fixes. I think they should make the devs play an Infinity Engine game for a few days too tbh BG2 or something.
  19. Yeah I have mentioned that before as well. The floors in IE games were most of the time usually pretty dark, and grass was pretty much always dark green, because it contrasts better with characters/selection circles, particularly green ones. Obsidian have ignored this and done grass with has baked sunlight on top of it as well. I have never had an issue seeing selection circles in IWD, but I play IWD on a CRT monitor which was waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay better contrast and color depth than pretty much all LCD screens ever
