  1. It seems like 3 development teams plus administrative staff would be at least 100 people, and there may be 4 or 5 consecutive projects...
  2. Crap, you're right. I thought it was just covered in the 60's.
  3. Bethesda has also completely changed hands since that time, both in ownership and management. Seeing the nudity used to be no big deal to old Bethesda, not something to flaunt or hide in shame.
  4. Daggerfall and Battlespire both featured very casual nudity. I never played Arena or Redguard, but they may have as well.
  5. Probably NX3, "the fantasy project", and Feargus' WH40k RPG/Racer/Dating Sim.
  6. That's why I'm hoping they will bring back the most important aspect of Fallout that was missing from the third entry: the corn.
  7. I'm not sure if anyone has posted this yet, but there is a F3 mod that adds a F1/2 style world map, taking you to different worldspaces at different locations, car, foot, and water travel, random encounters. It's more of a modders resource, so I'm not sure if anyone has actually put it to use yet, but it's nice to know that it's possible. http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=3157
  8. The letters and story telling skeletons seem contrived to me. It's been 200 years. All that should be there is dust and scattered bones, not complete skeletons tragically illustrating their owners' last moments. You didn't find much pre-war information in 1 or 2 unless it was on a holodisk or told to you by an NPC, usually with errors and inconsistencies. Everything was being reused or had disintegrated, this after 70 years. I wouldn't mind a Fallout set 1 or 2 decades after the bombs dropped, which might (sparsely) feature some of this pre-war evidence, factions still coming together or in flux, raiders forming out of pre-war organizations like gangs or police forces, etc. But in Fallout 3, the prewar stories seem to break immersion, not reinforce it.
  9. I really never understood the idea that Morgan ripped off Aphex Twin. Pulsing drone over a ghostly oscillating synth? Yes I've heard that many places. Aphex's music on that whole album is all so thinly layered and repetitive, it really doesn't compare to Morgan's stuff. "Radiation Storm" (the song from the Glow) is very Aphex like, but it's, well, better. If anything he sounds more like some Front 242 tracks I've heard--more samples, shifts, and rhythm.
  10. They haven't even made a forum. It's just a single topic in the General Fallout section.
  11. "Mark: Thanks for the kind words, I would love to do that game, but I have not been asked. I
  12. That's not necessarily the contract with Bethesda. There have also been hints of a fantasy project, and Pete Hines said they've been working with OE on FONV for 'quite a while now'. edit: echo, echo
  13. As bad as VATS is, the real-time FPS combat is hardly better... Best to drop them both then.
  14. If you compare them to some MMOs' seamless free roaming worlds, they aren't the technological leader. I would love to see another continuous, realistically proportioned world, like Arcanum, with several miles between locations and procedural (not canned) terrain between. Creating another modern, miniaturized open world puts them in a market with everyone else following this trend. Arcanum didn't do much in the way of rewarding exploration, though, as you would rarely run across anything (and be killed by bears) if you just wandered the map.
  15. Kotaku and Joystiq picked up the last Dev Diary. The comments were largely positive, though many people wanted a sequel to Torment.
  16. That would be a great example of "choice" that the trailer pushes. The obvious video game thing to do is to let him go and get your meesiles back. As for the press kit, it really needed some piano wire and a "last resort" capsule (fizzy sugar pill).
  17. I'm not afraid of my Thorton being beautiful. Could I maybe even make his eyes a little bluer?
  18. RPGness!! And apparently if you let the arms dealer go, the terrorists in later missions are better equipped (!) Maybe I'm just not reading this right, but it looks like MT has 367 AP (Alpha... Points?), with which he can max out his whole character sheet (with the upgrades costing 3-6 points). Was that just there for the demo, or am I misunderstanding the advancement system? No dialog examples, though.

"Near the end of the day, the focus changes: How do you manage thousands of lines of dialogue in advanced conversation systems? We will tackle this daunting question head-on." Neat. And damn, it's 8 hours long.

Are any of the Obsidian folks going to GDC this year? Is SEGA going to be pimping AP in some form? Will we ever see a shot of your flowchart dialog editor?
  21. Jason said that his wife invested heavily in pre-bust Arizona real estate. Maybe Fargo just offered him more money.
  22. It sounds like you were boring her. That's generally what the "nice guy finish last, they only want jerks" sentiment implies. She found you boring and didn't have the intestinal fortitude to tell you this because she was an immature, game-playing waste of your time. She wanted you(r johnson) back intermittently afterward to improve her self-esteem, of which she has little. You imply that you acquiesced. Bad move, but such is life. It's the crappy relationships that you (by which I mean I) remember best, especially the ones that I made crappy or help to become crappy. You just need to be a better judge of character. Don't hang on to relationships out of pity or compassion. I don't mean act like a jerk, just act with more self-interest. Women don't want servants.
