  1. Its definitely better. Though I don't know if I would use the word "fixed"
  2. The hype train is pulling into the station. It's a bit annoying that Pete Hines is doing the interview, and not Rorie or Sawyer. the further removed the Betehsda machine is from NV, the better I''ll feel. Hopefully, Hines will step out of the way after the initial PR wave lets loose.
  3. The grinding, the somewhat opaque narrative, the arguable misogony, the simplistic combat, the difficult inventory system. They've all been brought up at various times, and they are all good points, I think.
  4. Why would that be the case? The Witcher gets blasted a lot on these boards for its failings and stupidities, even by people like myself who think that overall it is a fine game. I must have missed all that blasting then. Maybe blasting is a bit much.

  6. No, just similar and severely lacking in RPG elements, at least back in 07. What were the rpg elements in Bioshock again? It had hacking, weapon upgrades, passive and active powers which is more than most console shooters. Oh. Its funny how primitve console chooters are. (or were).
  7. I understand your point, and I sorta agree. But I think the technology is used well enough to make a gameworld that is interesting to play through. For a linear game, it's quite open ended how you achieve your objectives. Plus I think the suit was a work of genius. It adds a whole new level to the Farcry-esque gameplay. Its not a classic game or anything, but it's a solid recent action game. As far as FPS games go of its sort, I'm hard pressed to think of many better in the last few years. STALKER. Maybe FEAR, although I preferred Crysis to FEAR in a big way.
  8. Is any game review site/publication NOT going to like ME2? Would seem unlikely. Maybe some blogger somewhere might pan it. Or the Codex and NMA.
  9. Actually, I think most classic literature could make interesting games. I think the Inferno could be a great adventure/crpg game, along the lines of Torment, with no or very minimal combat. It's just offensive when some idiot game developers have to tart up a classic work of literature beyond what's reasonable.
  10. You know what's also inane? Someone uploading a 1MB large 799x600 pic. Not only does Portable Network Graphics (png) support compression (which you apparently missed), .jpg is a much more efficient format for crappy internet pictures. Are you cranky by nature? Or is it just an internet thing?

  12. If that's true, then console shooters must be really bad.
  13. Thinngs just got horribly ugly when I was forced to read more inane Bethesda dialogue...
  14. I don't think it will be as good as the first one. And the first one had some great elements, but wasn't a great game. The atmosphere was what set it apart and the use of audio logs to tell stories wasn't original but is still something more games should do. The concept of a grand dream gone terribly wrong is a compelling one. Even if I don
  15. Again I am baffled by studio execs. If you've got 5 frakking hours of footage just bung it all on three DVDs and release it. DVDs cost **** all to make and print. If they didn't we wouldn't have starship troopers 3. Starship Troopers 3 is probably better than The Postman and Waterworld combined. I say probably becasue I never saw it. However Starship Troopers the first is totally fab.
  16. It's just trying to copy this(NSFW-ish). The genius on the internet may be demented but it is still genius.
  17. Isn't that more an issue with using a pnp ruleset that has a pretty steep learning curve. I mean, how does one explain THAC0? Or even just the concept of a "To hit" roll or AC? Without a few pages of text? Either on screen or in a manual. It's possible to learn, of course. I've never played a pnp crog in my life, nor do I have any interest in doing so, but learning D&D or SPECIAL or whatever never presented any difficulty. Which is because I was INTERESTED in learning how to play a particular game. So I took the time to understand it. If I had been more interested in throwing a football in a tight spiral, I would have taken the time to learn that instead. This is one of the things that bugs me a lot about current game design paradigms. The goal apparently is to get as many people as possible to buy a game, which I understand intellectually but I think is an incorrect approach, so games are designed primarily for people who have little actual interest in playing them or learning them. It sucks when a hobby you have is reduced to the level of a pre-school intellectual exercise, just to make that hobby as inoffensive and mass-appealing as possible. edit: spelling
  18. 1) Opportunity. For a long time women were barely allowed to tie their shoes, let along captain a ship. That's sorta changing now. 2) You're valuing things from a male-orientated perspective, which will naturally be affected by 1)
  19. Yup. You can stealth all over the place in Crysis. You can also drive tanks over people, if you prefer. Flexibility!
  20. I wouldn't mind seeing him go after something new. Even though I loved XCOM, I'd like to see him get his hands around something unrelated to a game I've already played.
  21. I would agree with this. The suit adds a lot. 2nd half isn't so great, though. IMO Far Cry is more fun overall, but some people would find the graphics too primitive today. I think they're great though. Far Cry 2 also fun, though somewhat repetitve. You can play it very stealthy if you like. Of course thete is STALKER:Shadows of Chernobyl. A topnotch shooter, though potentially buggy.
  22. I didn't think we were that annoying. I haven't seen NS around much, have you?
  23. If that isn't a call to greatness, I don't know what is.
  24. I've never really thought of it as an either/or thing. Well, maybe I did when I was younger. Now I realize that both real women and illlustrated women have serious pros and cons.
  25. ATM, I am actually playign several different games. Which is actually extremely unusual for me as I generally only play one game at a time. But nothing at the moment is overly compelling at the moment, so I am puttering around with different games. Currently I have playthroughs ongoing with: Morrowind Fallout 3 The Witcher Jagged Alliance 2 X2-The Threat The most difficult part is remembering where I am in each game when I come back to it. Anyway, in a couple weeks, I should have Call of Pripyat and that will most likely dominate my gaming for a while.
