Either way, I'd hate to have to live on the difference.

Pre-order seems more likely to end up as crap than waiting a week or two following release before you buy. I agree that straight impulse buying, ie walking into a game store and grabbing something off the shelf just because it looks good, is a one-way ticket to crap city. Seems to me that there is a middle ground between that and pre-ordering however.

Weird. For some reason I thought you had played it a lot more than one time.

But what about ice dice? Or a septim coin? Or a making of video? Or a cheap cloth map that makes a perfect handkerchief when you need to blow your nose but are too wrapped up in your game to leave your desk? How can you say no to such awesome stuff? I've never pre-ordered a game either. Its a game. It will be here soon enough. And if its not, there are others. And if I wait long enough, I can usually pick up every game at half price. And given the premium on rack space at retailers, that wait isn't usually too long. I'm also of the mind that developers and publishers need to prove to me that they've got a bug-free and feature-complete release on their hands before I give them anything.

I agree. Hacking is probably a bit overpowered as a skill. You can go without it of course, but it is SO useful that to not take is intentionally handicapping yourself. If you are into that from a roleplaying perspective, that's totally cool, of course. And not developing Hack gives you a lot of points to spend elsewhere, but point for point hack is unmateched for utility. Psi is a completely different game. Going total PSI is extremely difficult for 2 reasons: 1) You keep having to spend tons of nanites of PSI hypos since there are so few in the game. 2) You have to switch back and forth between your psi powers on the fly which is a lot like keeping three balls in the air while you are being chased by a cyborg assassin. Not easy. Psi is best used as a complement for either a weapons or tech build.

System Shock 2 and Oblivion! But not at the exact same time, natch. Mostly Oblivion really, since I can play SS2 in my sleep at this point.

You'll ruin the game if you do that. It's a horror game. You shouldn't know what to expect when playing it for the first time. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> That's true. If you have a specific question or want guidelines to building your character you should post here instead. There a lot of people here who have played the game. I know I could give you general character building guidance that would allow you a fun playthough without any spoilers. From a puzzle-solving standpoint, it's a pretty easy and logical game. There's a lot of stuff you have to do in the game, but none of it is hard to figure out. One of the reasons I like it! edit: I should point out that the last level is kind of a pain and I don't like it all that much because its a little more "tricksy". WHenever I replay SS2, I usually stop after leaving the Rickenbacker.

The combat animations don't bother me. In my experience once you start playing a game, the graphics and animations begin to normalize. You become used to them and begin to expect them and after a while they look fine. It's always a problem looking at screenies and short gameplay movies without the context of your own interaction with the game.

Hacking a security station. Hack is a pretty valuable skill in the game. I'm on a ladder and am deep doo-doo. This hybrid shot me off the ladded and I fell into the nacelle core and died. Happily I had long ago activated the rebuild station, so for the cost of ten nanites I was back and running just a moment later!

I think it has something to so with their exposed brains.

Here's a pick of inventory and the UI. This game has one of my favorite UIs of any fps game ever. Basically you press tab to shoft back and forth between the complex UI and the combat UI. Its almost seamless.

I don't know how well you can see these. The game is pretty dark in some levels, and I like playing it even darker. Like I said, the AI is pretty good, I drew this particuarr creature toward me by beating on the wall with a wrench. Its coming to investigate the sound.

I've got a game going right now. I'll post soem screenies later so you can see how it looks. Despite what Spider says, I think its actually still a pretty good looking game. Low Polys. Uses the awesome Dark Engine which powered Thief 1 and Thief 2. Excellent AI. Here's a basic screenie I posted in another thread for a taste of the game:

Where's Fallout 3: Return of the supermutant ninja turtles? And PST: Nameless One's Revenge? ANd BG3: Sparky the Wonderhound runs Amok? I don't see any of them. What a fraud site. If they were real I could test all those games. D:

I'm a lot less interesting than most of the people I've known.

All the black cases I've had end up getting uglified by scratches. So I went with the silver look this time hoping it wouldn't show the scrates so much. The dvd drives and floppy clash a bit but it was either black or beige for those. So black won obviously.

Do you think they would take one of my Oblivion characters?

One of my best friends is a born again CHristian. He doesn't play games, but he plays guitar and works as a recording engineer. He writes Christian rock songs which are a little goofy, but he's totally cool. Just because someone's into Chrisitianity doesn't make them uncool. SO I'm all for Christian games.

so...does Canada suffer some sort of nationwide brown-out when you power that monster up?

Politics is so exciting, isn't it.

Just teasing, you goof. I love your computer pics.

Try using adjectives. If words fail, hire an appraiser. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> blue, blue wherefore art thou, blue?

Good Lord, Sargy! Where's the hyperdrive? I don't see it. And the warp coil. It's missing. Well, that's disappointing, isn't it. SO no, I'm not impressed.

If Bioshock allows you to hunt and kill these "Little Sister" creatures that look like kids, might that not cause some ratings concerns? Would the UK even carry the game with its ban on killable kids in games? No politician or rating board is going to buy the argument "Well, it looks like a little girl but its really a genetic material collector."
